In short, this guy is a hack who should not be allowed near a customer’s home. My overall experience with this company was negative and did not meet expectations for the following reasons: During our initial meeting, Jeff stated that this project was “small potatoes.” Despite the fact that this was not a large commercial job, that is not something a contractor should communicate with a homeowner, ever. This statement set the tone for Jeff’s approach to this system installation. Having been involved in construction and engineering for more than 22 years, I have always treated a customer’s home as if it were my own and certainly didn’t appreciate his comment. Although Jeff Denaro is a licensed plumber, I was initially unaware that he is not licensed at all to pull permits for AC systems or ductwork (sheet metal, EPA). Only after the project had begun did I realize exactly how this guy operates. Once our contract was signed, he placed an ad on craigslist looking for someone with the proper licensing. He then used the lowest bid response to his ad without knowing a thing about the quality of that person's work. When I asked Jeff about it, he lied and stated the this subcontractor was a “helper” he had worked with in the past. Through dumb luck, the subcontractor actually did excellent work, and I would recommend him to anyone. However, the fact that this person was hired blindly from craigslist without any knowledge of his actual skill level was an unacceptable situation. Jeff was absent from the jobsite for the majority of the installation, as he had booked several other jobs to coincide with the one at my house. When he did show up, it was typically for less than an hour, and the work he personally accomplished was sub-par, and in several cases, negligent. It actually reached the point where the subcontractor was hoping Jeff did not show up at all because everything he touched had to be fixed, modified, or redone. Here are just some examples of poor workmanship by Jeff Denaro observed during the installation of this system: * For several of the floor registers, pilot holes were drilled on the outside of the marked pencil outline on the floor, rather than inside! Pilot holes are always to be drilled on the inside for obvious reasons. These holes are now clearly visible on the finished oak hardwood floor, as the register covers do not conceal them. They look horrible. This guy must learn some basic carpentry skills before anyone allows him near a finished hardwood floor. There will be a lawsuit in short time to recoup the cost of replacing the floor in this particular room. Pictures can be furnished if anyone would like to contact me about his work. * The condensate pump trap was installed backwards on the air handling unit and was back-pitched, preventing flow to the pump. This caused a sizeable flood in my basement on 8/26/14. My question is, what if the AHU had been located in a closet or attic and a flood had occurred? Does this guy not double-check his work to avoid conditions such as this? I have never heard of a master plumber installing a trap backwards before, but I guess there is a first time for everything. * Jeff failed to properly coordinate with the electrician regarding placement of switches and plugs, causing project delays and conflict between the electrician and subcontractor. A return trip by the electrician was necessary after switch components had to be moved out of the path of the return plenum. It is the responsibility of the general contractor to mediate with the electrician and properly communicate project requirements. Turns out that Jeff was too busy on other jobs to accomplish this. In the end, Jeff Denaro attempted to subtract $100 from the pay of the subcontractor for no apparent reason, even after the subcontractor accomplished outstanding work. This attempt to nickel and dime additional profit displays a certain level of greed and lack of integrity which I have come to expect from this guy. In addition, Jeff refuses to submit my rebate paperwork to MassSave even though he said he would. Although my experience with Energy Savings USA was terrible, the subcontractor was excellent (please contact me for his name/number), and the final end product is a functioning system. However, the journey from points A to B was much more arduous than necessary, and my hardwood floor was damaged significantly in the process. Avoid doing business with Energy Savings USA. Jeff Denaro is incompetent, he is a liar, and his business practices are shady at best.
Description of Work: Jeff Denaro of Energy Savings USA was contracted to install a ducted central AC / forced hot air system at my residence.

After spending our first winter in our house, we wanted to have a cozier, warmer kitchen. We talked with our builder about the feasibility of switching from hydronic to radiant in just one room (the kitchen). He thought it was possible and recommended talking with Jeff from Energy Savings USA. Jeff came out looked at what we had, talked with us about what we wanted, and put together a quote. We came to an agreement and Jeff started a few days later. The install went well, and Jeff spent extra time and installed additional hardware to make sure the system worked properly. He stuck with his original quote. Now we have a warm kitchen! Jeff was great at communicating throughout the work and was committed to making sure the system worked properly.
Description of Work: Installed radiant floor heat in our 400 sq ft kitchen

Energy Savings USA replaced a furnace and hot water heater for me. The owner, Jeff was on time for the estimate and communicated well in person and by phone. He kept me up to date on everything that was going to happen. They completed the work in a timely fashion. Jeff is definitely the person I would recommend to replace a furnace.
Description of Work: I used Energy Savings USA for heating and hot water heater replacement services.
