DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH TONY FISH REALTY They don't care
anything about their clients unless it's $$$$. Honestly, they don't deserve any
stars but I definitely hated my experience with them. I was desperate at the
time because, if you live in Troy, you know that it's not easy to find a decent
place to stay. I had been looking for months and months and my daughter was due
to be born in about 2-3 months when I first started working with John Fish. I
was told that I could rent a house for about $675 and pets were fine at no
extra charge. I knew it was a bit expensive for Troy, so I said if you have
anything else cheaper let me know. I was told he had nothing at first and then
some apartment became available which was out of the question for me.
Eventually I decided I would take the house but couldn't move in because they
were repainting the exterior. After waiting another couple of weeks, I was then
told that the owners decided to sell the home instead. Never saw Tony Fish
Realty For Sale sign up. I assume they didn't want to accept the type of dogs
we had. Finally he said he had another house which was literally laid out just
like the other but much larger for $550. We took it! We were to pay a deposit
and rent to move in. Months after we'd settled on taking this other house, my
brother had a customer at work that had just moved into town. Come to find out
he was renting the house that we were told was $675/month for only $400/month.
There was mold on the window sills and baseboards and the carpets were
disgustingly dirty. John told me that they wouldn't be cleaning anything prior
to us moving it. I brought up being reimbursed for the cleaning supplies I
would have to purchase and use for cleaning the carpets. Took him a while to
agree and gave me $50 off. Many of the power sockets didn't work, ceiling fan
had a huge busted glass bulb hanging, living room ceiling fan light didn't
work, laundry room floor was supposed to be patched up, our yard was supposed
to also be mowed and the weeds cleared when we moved in by the maintenance guy
according to John. I brought up the yard on multiple occasions and no one ever
came out but instead performed maintenance on the apartments next door which
were part of the Tony Fish properties. Instead my dad and brother cleared the
weeds and we paid someone to mow out yard. The repairs and things that needed
to be fixed at 208 Bruton Street in
Troy. Tony Fish's office is literally about a 2-3 minutes stroll from the house
itself. He was bad at returning my calls or just calling me when he said he
would until rent was withheld. Once it
started getting to colder weather, we realized we had a MOLD probably. You
could even see moisture damage on the outside brick. This is how we knew this
was a serious issue rather than just a
little mold. We cleaned it very often and it only returned. It was on the
baseboards, under the sinks, on items that were in the house, and growing
halfway up the walls. For at least 4 months John and Tony knew my concern and
never once came by. There was a DEHUMIDIFIER already in the home when we moved
in but we didn't know what it was. I had
to empty water from it a few times a day. Once I withheld rent, it wasn't hard
to John to stop by our home and give us an ILLEGAL eviction notice. He'd stop
by my job randomly but could not stop by the house and even recognize the
problem. Instead he said we weren't using the correct heating sources and it's
never been a problem in the past and the owners even stayed there. Perfect
example of BAD BUSINESS. My MAIN ISSUE was the fact that there were 2 infants
living in this home and they both ended up with respiratory infections which
lasted for months. I myself ended up with a sinus infection for months as well.
I will never do business with them again nor recommend them to anyone.
