Description of Work: cut back limbs on three trees

Description of Work: The provider was extremely professional in sharing his perspective that the work I was interested in would cost far more than the price of the coupon and I did not have additional funds to dedicate to this work.

Description of Work: There was trouble making actual contact with someone initially as the phone was never answered and I left a voice mail. From there, it was almost a week of phone tag before we connected. I then was given an appointment three weeks out which is fine understanding that they are busy. The onsite visit for a quote went well but I did not receive the quote until 5 days later with apologies. I was very surprised at the cost of one of the services to our front yard maple as it was $785 as compared to same service from another provider 2 years earlier at $275. I sent an email asking if we could speak to discuss the price, three days later without response, I will not use this company. I do understand if you are busy but in this day and age of smart phones, responding to an email takes 1 minute. I assume they don't want my business as they are busy.

Description of Work: As part of an Angie's Big Deal, Will came by on Friday, May 3, 2013. He gave me an estimate that came to $500 over the $400 big deal. He insisted that I sign an email contract the next day. On July 7, I emailed Will to find out what was going on. He emailed me back that it would likely be in August. The job for which I had hired him was to remove a row of dead Poplars from my back yard. The trees fell into the drainage dish. We got a lot of rain. The trees became a dam. The water backed up all the way to my house, came into my house, rose 2 feet, and did in excess of $10,000 worth of damage. I purchased my Angie's list Big Deal on April 9. To Will, now 4 month's later, I guess it was no Big Deal.

Description of Work: CCF Tree Service was very professional and came out to meet with us to give us an estimate. They gave us a quote and we spoke with other tree services that came up with lower quotes for the same work. Christian appeared to be very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information but the price differences were too high. I'm not sure if it was due to already knowing that we had a coupon from the big deal or if his costs are really that much higher.

Description of Work: Order placed thru Angie's on 6/3 for $400 work for $199. Took until 7/13 to get someone to come and quote for work.Until today still awaiting a response re scheduling of work despite e mails.

Description of Work: Christian of CCF Tree Service was very pleasant and professional. He evaluated the job thoroughly but, in the end, his quote was just too high for the work involved. Instead, we are having the work done by a different person who has done a good job for us in the past. The cost is substantially lower than CCF's quote.

Description of Work: They came out to give an estimate after my purchase of the Big Deal. The price was 3 times higher than the other 2 we received, so we did not use their services. I contact them this week about using the face value purchase price to remove a tree that has recently fallen. They are booked until September. The suggested we could request a refund, since it does not appear we will be able to use their services.

Description of Work: I have contacted Raleigh Tree Service and they did come out to review my situation. However, they cannot schedule any work until the Fall which is much too late as the tree is in danger of falling on my house. Consequently, I will not be using them for the job.

Description of Work: Christian came to my home to give me an estimate for tree work. He was prompt, friendly, and very helpful, even providing education on what to look for in (and on) my trees to help keep them healthy. He provided valuable insight into what I needed to do to keep prevent possible damage to my home and then gave me an estimate for the work that needed to be done. He was very honest in breaking down the estimate and because my job was so small encouraged me to utilize someone who was local rather than have to incur the overhead costs of gasoline, multiple trucks, and the expertise of a tree service when a landscaper should be able to complete the job. He even went so far as to remove a few (small) "rogue" limbs that were preventing healthy growth to one of my trees. Overall, VERY IMPRESSIVE, and I would definitely use him if I ever need tree service!

Description of Work: Three pine trees removed in our front year. Two were very large trees that were expertly cut into sections and transferred to the chipper via controlled boom truck. Will and his assistant demonstrate excellent safety procedures. The stumps were ground and top soil was added to fill the holes. The clean up was outstanding.

Description of Work: It was fine. There was just no way to do $400 worth of work--we need more like $1200 minimum & that's beyond the budget.

Description of Work: This company was difficult to get in contact with. Answer machine picked up rather than actual person. They did eventually call me and set up a time to come by and give an estimate. It took a week to get the estimate and in my opinion, the estimate was too high. They also did not acknowledge on the estimate the discount promised on Angie's List.

Description of Work: CCF came out to give us an estimate for having work done. Chris was very professional. He provided an estimate withing two days. I had obtained the coupon on May 31, 2013. I obtained two other estimates from tree services on Angie's list. CCF was quit a bit more than the other two. We have decided to go with another company.

Description of Work: Gentleman was excellent, very thorough in his examination of the many trees in our yard, pointing out the hazards, the couple of trees that are diseased, etc. However, we were trying to get rid of several trees for a few hundred $$ and I asked him to quote a basic just the essentials price, and the everything price. When the quote came back, it was just the everything price. I'm sure they would have done an excellent job, but it was far more than we could afford to spend. I contacted CCF, and asked if there was any way we could just do the essentials. He replied " Just a quick note to let you know that I believe this job would be more cost effective if it was completed all at one time. I appreciate your business, and would be more than happy to take a look at this in the future if you are able to move forward with the estimate." Since we could not afford the complete job, we canceled the Big Deal. We will continue to look for someone to cut some trees back and down for a price we can afford.

Description of Work: The gentleman was on time, he looked over the job and told me that he could not move all the equipment needed to do the work the distance he had to come for the price. We agreed that he could not do the job and I would be better off getting someone closer. I spoke to someone from my church and he lives just a few miles from me and will do it for the same price. It was a decision made by both the gentleman from CCF tree service and I. There was no hard feelings and he left me feeling he was being honest with me.

Description of Work: We purchased the Big Deal. Will made an appointment and walked around our property with us. We were concerned about one tree, which he assured us was fine. He then pointed out another that we were not really aware of as a problem. We also asked for some advice on all our trees. Will explained that his hourly professional fee was $155 per hour and a full detailed review of every tree would be prohibitively expensive. We decided to do a faster review and keep it under one hour, to be done the same day as the tree removal. He showed up on time with only two trucks and no regular crew ( His wife drove the second truck). I was concerned, as it was a large tree. It was amazing to watch him work with the remote control and a huge crane. He took the tree down expertly, then ground it all up and did a stump grinding all by himself. He showed me how light the top of the tree was and all the rot and damage in the tree. I am glad it is gone. We then walked around identifying all of our trees and coming up with treatment and maintenance plans. It was well worth the $155 per hour for that walk around. I will definitely use them again when needed.

Description of Work: I made an appointment to have someone to come to my house to give me an estimate. He was very helpful and gave me very detailed information but overall, the project was much bigger than I expected. Will hold off on doing project.

Description of Work: Will was very personable, professional and knowledgeable. He came out on a Saturday morning to look at my yard. During the course of the conversation Will indicated that it cost $450 an hour just to mobilize his equipment & crew, so just getting to my site would use up the coupon value. That being the case,there could be no work done for the coupon value, so in my opinion,the offer was of no value. He was very honest & upfront to say that if I did not want to spend more money to get work done, I could request a refund. At this point, a refund is the best course of action for me.

Description of Work: Raleigh Tree Service did a great job of removing a Mulberry Tree Gone Wild from our property. I scheduled an appointment and Will came on time, gave a price, and provided proof of insurance. The first time he could schedule the removal was several weeks out but because of some equipment repairs for another job, he called and scheduled an earlier appointment. He came on time and completed my job and one for a neighbor. He did excellent work and great clean up. He was personable and professional. Couldn't ask for better.

Description of Work: STUMP GRINDING. With customer service like this, I'm surprised this owner/operator has any customers. On Friday April 5, the owner -- Christian Etheridge -- showed up as scheduled to provide an estimate for grinding the stump of a recently removed maple tree. All went well, with the promised estimate arriving by email later that day. I was about to schedule the job with him when I noticed his estimate, unlike other providers, did not include back-filling the resultant hole with topsoil. When I called to ask for a revised estimate including the soil, he hummed and hawed, indicating he worked by himself and wasn't interested in that extra amount of work. I then asked for estimate of how much topsoil I would have to buy to complete the work myself. He said he was too busy and didn't have any idea of the amount of the soil needed or the cost. Lesson learned: some people wan't to do only the work they want to do, regardless of the services sought by the customer paying the bill.

Description of Work: Guy seemed knowledgeable and helpful but the estimate was twice as much as other qualified and insured competitors.
