A & M Auto Service

My car is at 217K miles and is 15 years old so I was ready to put some money into it to get it fixed, but didnt want to put too much into it since I will end up getting a new one shortly anyway. The guys at A&M did just what I needed done in order to correct the issue I brought the car in for and on top of that let me know some other things they saw that needed attention, one that I would have to have done before my inspection that is due in May, although didn't push me to do it right then and instead let me make the decision on my own time. In addition to the great service to my car, John was willing to drive me to the light rail station so I could make it into work and also picked me up from the station when my car was ready. What great personal service! I will not be going anywhere else inthe future! Thanks A&M.

A & M Auto Service does a thorough evaluation, doesn't try to sell you service that you don't need and gives you their opinion regarding whether the service you requested is necessary. All service performed is clearly described on their invoice.with appropriate charges. So far, I recommend them as a "first class" independent auto repair and service facility.

We had an A/C problem. Two other auto service places could not fix the problem. A&M identified and fixed in half a day. They explained to me what happened and even showed me the parts that failed when picked up the car. I felt they were extremely honest and best of all, they didn't try to take me to the bank. I'll be coming back to these guys for any repairs from now on.

Very friendly service. Car finished faster than expected. I had also planned to have them do a tune-up, but Dutch said I did not need one, and he does not sell people things they don't need. That is incredibly impressive in the car maintenance industry! I would definitely use A & M AutoService again, and will highly recommend them to others.

I was having a problem with my clutch sticking, so for convenience sake I decided to take my truck to the local oil change auto service. Their diagnose included replacing the slave and master cylinder. However, this diagnosis was incorrect as the problem did not go away and actually became increasingly worse. After taking it back to them repeated times, I grew frustrated at their incompetence and decided I needed to make a change. I looked up reputable auto mechanics in the area and found A & M Auto Service. I took my car to Dutch and he diagnosed the problem and even documented the problem areas with photographs. It was discovered the earlier mechanic didn't properly install a gasket related to the slave and master cylinder. In addition, inferior replacement parts were used and they weren't authentic Toyota parts. After fighting with the previous manager to no avail, I had Dutch and crew perform the work. I also added some 90K mile maintenance items such as a timing belt replacement, spark plug replacement, and other miscellaneous items. They performed the work quickly and communicated to me during the whole process. Dutch also didn't try and sell me unnecessary work as you often see with other mechanics. They provided the highest level of professionalism in my opinion and I will never take my vehicle(s) to another service mechanic. It is important to build a high level of trust with your auto mechanic and we quickly developed an trustworthy understanding.

I had previously taken my car to a Volvo dealer, where I could not get answers or find out the root cause of what was wrong with my car. I had the complete opposite experience with Dutch and the A&M guys! This place is great, and I highly recommend! They took the time to hear "the story of my Volvo", and troubleshoot not just the battery issues, but the other electrical issues that I had experienced. These guys are here to inform you and let you make a decision on how you'd like to proceed! I will be back, and I will recommend them to friends.

Now I know why these guys have so many good ratings from other customers. They found the sources of several problems that I was having with my car and gave me choices that helped save me some money on the repairs rather than trying to up-sell me to get a bigger sales ticket. The technicians do not work on commission, so they don't try to nickel and dime you for every little thing like the chain shops do. I'm glad I've finally found a mechanic that I can trust.

New to Charlotte and found A&M on Angie's list. - everything people write about is true. I was greeted by name when I entered the shop and treated like family while Dutch's crew gave my wife's Volvo a routine oil change and once over in under 1 hour while I waited. I will be be back regularly with both of my cars.

Excellent! I had the pleasure of meeting Dutch this morning to have my BMW 3 series serviced this morning. I was extremely pleased with his/AM Service. I had called to schedule my appointment after reading his reviews on AL. Last Friday I went to a different shop and felt I had been taken advantage of and explained to Dutch what had happened and that I expect more for my service. Right from the start I knew I found the right man. I had just sat down when he called an older lady to the counter. He took almost 10 minutes explaining to her (with her brake pad in hand!) why she should have her brakes serviced very soon. He showed her with a measuring device and clearly explained to her in layman's terms what she needed to know and what she would expect to pay. I was very impressed that he took that much time with her, as it clearly made her comfortable. Mine was a straight forward servicing but he still went through everything they found and only charged me what he estimated over the phone. Dutch and his team (Justin?) provided excellent service this morning and I am pleased to have found my new mechanic.

Dutch always makes it right. I bought tires from him one year, and they didn't last as well as I had hoped. He replaced them at his cost. Same thing happened with a set of brake pads; Dutch replaced them free of charge. He is honest and trustworthy and never tries to sell me something I don't need or want.

Need three new tires and state inspection. A loaner car for free...now when have you heard of that in this day and time? Great service, I will be going back! Thanks Dutch and crew!

the engine piping boots were found to have been clamped improperly during a previous service (not his shop) which eventually allowed unmetered air into the system causing a lean fuel/air mixture and finally the check engine light illumination. after the check engine light reappeared the next day, I brought the car back to the shop. Both he and Justin dropped what they were doing to find and explain why this had happened (too long to go into here) and as I was leaving for Florida the next day, Dutch replaced my right bank diverter valve hose w/the one from his own personal vehicle. He said that while I could have made the trip down and back w/out major problems, he would not have been comfortable having my car leave the shop in less than optimal shape. My new diverter valve hose will be waiting upon my return. never in my life have I encountered this level of committment to quality and customer service. these guys are good!

A & M checked our 2003 Dodge Ram. We went in knowing there was a problem with the A/C and rear end. After a through evaluation, Dutch provided a detailed list of the items that needed to be repaired. The total estimated service was $5500. Dutch advised that the vehicle was not worth investing this amount of repairs. He passed up the opportunity to perform a major overhaul and provided professional advice. Additionally, we had asked for him to perform an oil change. He delayed that service until we had decided what to do with the truck. We decided to trade it in and his honest appraisal saved us the cost of the oil change.

Dutch and his crew are always very knowledgeable and informative. Their work has always been done correctly and in a timely fashion. As long as we live in Pineville, we would never dream of taking our cars anywhere but A&M. We had previously taken our car to GoodYear and they missed several things that could have turned into a tragic accident...while trying to charge us more than we paid A&M to fix what actually needed to be repaired. Bottom line is ..A&M is trustworthy and very thorough.

Overall, the experience was great. I am so happy that I found this mechanic. Dutch was so accomodating. He even called us to let us know what was going on. The car was ready at the time promised. He saved me a lot of money; he gave me a discount. Everyone was friendly, courteous and the environment was clean. I'm happy with his services and I would highly recommend him to others.

I went to A&M to have a repair done on my driver side window. The window moved off track anytime I would close the window. Dutch and team investigated and determine that an attaching bracket was broken and needed to be replaced. On the surface, the repair sounds simple, but to fix it you have two options: replace the entire glass with a new one which has the bracket already attached (very costly) or find a replacement bracket and have someone remove the old bracket and attach it to the existing window. I was fortunate to be at A&M because the latter option was performed and it save me a ton of money. (Thank you Dutch!!!) I intend on being a repeat customer in the near future. They even glued the driver side door handle surround that had a crack in it for free. I don't mind driving from Monroe, NC to this shop because I believe I will be treated in a fair manner. Dutch and crew keep up the great work.

Dutch does an excellent job of taking care of my car.

His customer service is far and above anyone else that I have dealt with. He was very patient and willing to explain everything to me, who is not very car savvy. His prices are very good. He even sends a Thank You card in the mail and reminders for oil changes when they are due.

I am extremely delighted with the wonderful work A&M did. Dutch and his crew are very competent and trustworthy. As long as I live in this area, I'll never go anywhere else. Highly recommended.

It went well. My wife has been using A&M for her car for a year or two and they've been very helpful. This was the first time I had had my serviced there and I was happy with the service. My sense from both my experience and my wife's experience is that they're not out to make a "killing" when servicing the car (unlike other places I have my car serviced at). One minor problem was that they forgot to call me when the service was completed (I was called at the end of the day).
