They were excellent. I took my car in and they gave me a list of services that need to be done; above it was the list of things I needed to have done and things that I don't need. It was perfect and I loved them.

Very professional people. I thought I needed new struts but after they inspected the car I only needed tie rod bushing replacement. I have a friend, ex. mechanic who knows the owner Dutch and John the manager and he rates them as one of the most honest and professional auto repair shops in the Charlotte area. After talking with several auto repair shops, I felt very comfortable with the staff at A&M Auto Service. Highly recommended !!!!

Car had several problems. Engine code tripping, engine stalling, vibration during acceleration. Due to its high mileage I needed to keep cost down as this is not a daily driver. Called 'Dutch' on a Friday, they were very professional on the phone. Told them the symptoms, they said they have a weekend drop off box. We dropped it off on a Sunday evening filling out an information envelope, sealing the keys in it and putting the envelop in the drop box. They called Monday morning confirming the information, I gave them as much pertinent info as possible. They quoted me the diagnostic fee (which is reasonable compared to other shops in the area.) I told them there was no rush on this repair as this is not a daily driver. Next day had a message from Dutch by 9 am with what they think is going on with the car. I called back they gave me an estimate for a portion of the repairs but they wanted to research the cost of parts and get back to me with a cost of the more expensive problem. I gave them go ahead on the less expensive repair. Next morning they called confirming electrical repair was complete and gave me all the options for the more expensive mechanical repair. CV axles/Ball Joints with new high quality aftermarket parts saved me hundreds over a dealership repair. The next day they called with info that the job was complete and gave me the final cost which matched the estimate I had been given. Went to pick up vehicle, met Dutch for first time. Took a peek at his shop, good sized, clean, well maintained, all the earmarks that he takes pride in what he does. Told him I found them on Angie's List. He replied then you get a discount, bam considerable chunk taken off the bottom. And for the kicker he gave me 2 year 24k warranty on the repaired items. I have a lot of experience dealing with mechanical service type companies in my professional life. There are not to many places like A and M. Honest, clean shop, professional, but looking to keep costs down. There were several issues with this car and after they inspected those items they suggested an appropriate and cost effective solution and gave me options. No need to use anyone else for your out of pocket repair/maintenance costs.

They found that the dealership I had brought the car to have previously repaired had put the alternator back on wrong. Dealership took care of it and paid A&M for diagnostic service. Excellent service!

I called A&M Auto Service on Oct. 2 or 3 to schedule an appointment for repairing the windshield washers on my car. They were producing inadequate streams of water. I'm not sure whom I spoke with, but he was pleasant and accommodating. We made the appointment for Oct. 9 at 8 a.m. (I had no previous experience with this business.) I arrived at the shop at 8:00 on Oct. 9, and was immediately impressed with the friendliness, graciousness, and professionalism of Dutch Silverstein, the owner, and his associate at the front desk. Within 25 or 30 minutes, the mechanic had diagnosed the problem and replaced a deteriorated washer hose.The mechanic also noticed that an incorrect battery had been installed by another vendor, and it should be replaced in order to prevent future problems. (I will visit the vendor of the battery.) The mechanic also noticed that my NC state inspection was due next month. He and Dutch asked if I would like them to do the inspection now (since it can be done as much as 30 days in advance), and I agreed. Dutch very kindly offered to take pictures of my battery, as well as pictures of the (correct) battery in the same model car as mine, so that I can show the contrasting pictures to the battery vendor. Later in the day, Dutch e-mailed the pictures to me. His gesture was unusually thoughtful and generous, and I greatly appreciated his extra effort--a good example of exceeding expectations. The repair, the inspection, and the picture-taking were all completed by 9:00, and I was on my way home much sooner than I had expected. Frankly, I don't know that I've ever had such a satisfying, feel-good experience in an auto repair shop. I won't hesitate to return to Dutch and his crew. The total cost of the repair and inspection was $62, after a $20 Angie's List discount.

They told me that it was the carrier that moved the window up and down. They do a really good job. They’re one of those places that do what you ask them to do. They go a little bit beyond what you asked them to do which I think is a good thing for a woman like me. They never try to take advantage of me. The owner is a personal friend so I don’t think he would try to take advantage of me. They were referred by another friend of my. I had been taking it to the dealership but my dealership closed. I started taking it to another company and I’m very dissatisfied with them. Then I got this recommendation from a friend. It takes me 45 minutes to get there but it’s worth the drive. They do have Wi-Fi service in there but no TV. They’ve also given me a loaner car that belongs to them at one point. They also rented me a car one time. I think their price may be a little bit on the high side but it’s worth it to me.

They are fantastic. We love supporting independent businesses that take care of their customer with exceptional service and A&M is at the top of the list. Great communication and care. Fair pricing and excellent workmanship. Ready as promised. Cannot ask for more. It is important you have trust in those that service your vehicle.We recommend A&M highly based not only on this one experience but several previously.

The repair was expensive, but it's an expensive part. The job was done properly, on time with no problems.

After multiple attempts for 2 Chrysler dealerships to repair the air conditioner, and several hundred dollars, Chrysler's recommendation was to replace the entire air conditioning system for $2,000. I researched Angie's List for highly rated auto service providers and A&M stood out. Their reviews were very postive and their guarantee sealed the deal. I made an appointment with Dutch and they completed the service just before the holiday weekend. The air was blowing colder than when the car was new, and now 3 months later through the summer it still blows cold. THese guys are great. Just brought my Acura in for service today and I was in and out in an hour. Highly recommended.

I took my 2005 Dodge Durango in because the A/C was making noise under the hood and I thought my water pump was leaking. I went in talked to them and decided to leave the car there so they could begin working it Monday, I rented a car. They called that mid morning Monday and told me the water pump was leaking and gave me the repair price. I mentioned the A/C and they called me back and told me the A/C compressor was bad and to replace the compressor and all the parts would be $2000. I advised to just fix the water pump. Called later that day and was told the car would be ready Tues. and I was OK with that. I was unable to reach them most of Tues due to trouble with the their communication system (internet & phone), with everyone having a cell phone I felt that they could have called me. When I finally got through around 4 PM they told me the water pump was fixed, but they may had damaged the A/C compressor, because it was not working now. They were trying to locate a new one and if I could wait one more day they would replace the A/C compressor for free. Of course, I agreed. They weren't replacing all the A/C parts just the compressor and that was enough for me. When the car was ready the called my cell, my work # and sent me an email, which I liked. When I got to the shop they explained everthing that had been done and all the warranty's. Since then, no overheating and the A/C blows cold and quite. Will go back when needing more service and next time I'll know to check in on the status.

I took the car in this morning. After the mechanic looked over the car for over 30 minutes, all that was wrong was a loose lug nut. No need for new brakes or a window regulator.

Found Dutch's shop on Angie's List. My car had several issues including AC intermittently blowing warm air, uneven idle, and a constant vibration in the front end. I had taken the car previously to a shop that only did auto heat and air work and they just checked the temp of the air blowing out of the vent and told me it was fine and I would have to bring it back when it wasn't working. Dutch asked specific questions about when the issue occurs and was able to reproduce the issue. They found that the system was down on coolant and recommended to completely evacuate the system and recharge it including a dye that can be used to identify a leak once I am able to return the car to him. The vibration in the front end turned out to be that the tires were not balanced properly even though I had taken the car to a shop that had balanced the tires multiple times for me. I was about ready to blame the tires and replace the tires that still had plenty of good tread on them. It definitely pays to have someone do the job right. The car now drives smooth like it is supposed to.

They made two repairs. One repair made the vehicle much safer. One repair solved an ongoing minor fluid drip. The vehicle has never run better. No drips or leaks of any sort. I am very pleased with the service I received from A & M.

My Grand Marquis began running poorly early in the week and even though I needed to drive the car Friday evening for a week long vacation, I was unable to have it looked at during the week due to work demands. On Thursday evening I was scrambling to find someone who could look at my car and hopefully repair it the next day. I went to Angie's List and found A & M. I called at 6:30 PM not expecting an answer, but Dutch answered the phone. I explained my predicament and he gave me some very good advice, but told me that he could most likely not get my car repaired in the time frame I needed it on such short notice. However, based upon our conversation, I trusted his expertise and knew that he was the only one that possibly could meet my needs at that point so I dropped the car at his shop after hours. The next morning I received a voice mail and a follow-up call from John with the diagnosis and estimate. John also told me that it looked as if the work could be done by the end of the day. It was! I picked my car up at the end of the day, took it home to pack and was off to the coast that evening with a great running car. A & M helped me and my wife have our toes in the sand first thing Saturday morning! Thanks to Dutch and his staff.

It went well. We use them all the time and Dutch is very honest & upfront. Never have to wonder he explains everything. He will check everything and let you know the things you need to consider in the longrun. Never any surprises.

They were very good. If we have a problem with our car, we will definitely take it to A & M.

Smooth process from start to finish.

Our 02' Taurus had 210K miles on it. We brought it in to get an estimate to find out how much it would be to repair. We told the owner that if it was too expensive we were going to just scrap it and go buy a new car. We didn't feel the car was worth much more investment. He began to explain what some potential problems were and how he might fix and even indicated it might take longer than a day to find since my one problem seemed random. I told him about some other small problems and he asked if we still had the original transmission. We said yes. (apparently the Taurus has a reputation for chronic transmission issues). He then asked how many miles on the car. We told him 210K. His response was that "we won" and to go buy a new car. He advised that it would be foolish for us to sink more money into our car. In fact, his next line was that "he refused to work on our car" because he said to do so would be robbing us. He handed the keys back and said go buy a new car. He said it would be unethical for him to fix this car and take our money. I certainly cherish the advice and honesty from a man in an industry that often has such negative connotations linked to its service companies. For that reason and honesty, I will take all my future automotive work back to them, I recommend this business. You'll be happy to do so.
