TLC-The Landscape Company

John has come to our house several times to take a look at the problems/issues that we had in out backyard, such as adding more trees, putting down pavers, and solving the drainage problems around the pool perimeter, etc. He promptly provided us with the estimates. John has been honest, reliable, dedicated to customer services. He went above and beyond to help us. He came over multiple times at our request to exam and estimate our drainage issues free of charge. We have decided to do some of the work with John, but kept on delaying the project due to the problems that we had with the pool (the pool company is still working on it). John was extremely patient with us. We could not have asked for a better all-round landscaping company!

My husband and I are delighted with the work John has done. We found it reasonably priced, and he was very patient with our varied list of work--as I am more than a little particular. We will definitely call John again!

Overall it went fine and looks great. The crew patchworked 2 areas instead of using long pieces. I'll have to wait and see if they fill in correctly, probably iwll add some sand to fill in the voids. My advise would be to check your square footage 3 times to be sure you order enough sod. TLC Sodded an area they weren't supposed to, which left us short in another area, but it looks very good. The only other problem I had was hauling off the waste / leftover since John doesn't do that. The landfill does not take anything with dirt on it. So, fair warning - if you want to save a buck and haul it off yourself, don't go to Foxhole, Presley's will take it.

I called for a quote for my drainage system in the backyard. My drain was stopped up. After I told him what I needed, he determined it would be best to contact a plumber, and even told me what I could do myself to fix it. I called after 6pm and he still answered. He directed me to the proper people. He didn't want me to waste my money. I called the plumber here on Angie's list and they knew exactly what I was referring to. The price they quoted me was $500 cheaper than what my neighbor was quoted. I look forward to the plumber's visit. I absolutely had no idea a plumber would be the one for the job!

John at TLC was very responsive in providing an estimate, scheduling the work and in responding to all my communications. Before the work started, we met to make sure the scope of work was clear. The work was completed timely, but we discovered that not all the plants were added and followed up with John on this. This was remedied and we also added further plants. We later identified that an existing plant was damaged and discussed this with John. We were able to work this out satisfactorily with John. John is very professional and responsive.

John stayed with the workers who came with him and made sure plants were positioned correctly. Everything went smoothly. The workers were polite and professional. A couple weeks after the work was completed I noticed that one of the roses that were planted was red instead of pink. I called John and he agreed to replace it. He came out and replaced it as he promised without any further phone calls or contacts. He did everything he said he would do and the work looks very nice. He honored the discount listed in the Angie's List booklet. I would use him again and feel like I got good value for my money.

It never even got started. He was too busy to discuss the work.

John did an outstanding job on working within my budget to achieve the results I was looking for. He completed the job before schedule and always kept me informed of the progress. I will use him again for future landscaping.

Overall, I would highly recommend them as a full-service landscaping company. We have hired other companies in the past that have provided very poor service at very high rates. TLC is taking great care of our property and we think it will look especially great in the Spring!

They were very responsive, had good quality, and were reliable.

He came out and discussed with us his plan to fix the area. Within a week he was out starting the project and finished it in a timely manner. He did an outstanding job and would use him again.

The service was just great! He did exactly what he said he was going to do. I really want people to know that he does a fine job and he's first class.

John and his helper arrived early in the morning and got right to work. They pruned all shrubs on our one acre property utilizing power tools when feasible and hand trimming when necessary. They also removed low-hanging limbs from several trees. In addition, one of my two six-year-old Alberta Spruces on each side of the porch steps had suffered severe burn damage during the power washing of my front porch and house. Because of this, I asked John to remove them but he went the extra mile and rescued the undamaged spruce, relocating it to the backyard where it greatly enhances the look of the patio area. I am grateful for his foresight and expertise. They worked for the better part of the day stopping only to have lunch. They cleaned up by blowing out the trimmings from the shrubs and all hardscaped areas and hauling away all the debris. John also gave me a very competitive price for converting my halogen outdoor lighting to LED, a project we plan to undertake in the near future. John was very easy to work with and came up with great suggestions for improving the look of our landscape.

I came home to find that my current landscape company had severely overtrimmed existing landscaping shrubs such that my neighbor's house, previously unseen, was now in full view from my bedroom windows and backyard patio. Disasterous! I called several landscape companies to assess the situation and provide bids for immediate remediation. John Troeschel from TLC: The Landscape Company responded immediately. He came out the next day to survey the situation and propose a solution. We discussed several options for plant types that would do well in the heat/light/soil and be fast growing. I had a bid from John that evening which was complete and competitive. John and his crew appeared promptly the next morning to install a new hedge. The plants he brought were sizable and healthly, providng immediate screening. John was here personally supervising the crew. He called me when the plan needed adjusting and when I returned at noon, the job was complete. However, I determined that another bush would further enhance the screen so I called John. He obtained another plant and returned that afternoon to install the final bush. The results are great. John was a pleasure to do business with. He was knowledgeable and responsive. His crew did quality work for a reasonable price. I have recommended John and TLC to my neighbors and would highly recommend him to Angie's List members.

When I had my initial appointment with John, the owner of TLC I had a very stark plan in mind for my back courtyard. I also was of the mindset that what I wanted done ( small decorative rock) should match my red brick home exterior. He began to suggest using more "earth" or "natural" tones and why. He also felt that since this would be my little area of "retreat" it would be nice to create a place of respite with more plants and less rock!! I was easily won over to his suggestions. I wanted my existing patio to remain and to add a walkway to my garage and I wanted a tree. John's idea was to extend the patio for a more usable area and incorporate the walk way. And of course small planter beds and perhaps a little river rock area .We spoke about types of brick, pavers, stones, trees and plants. He left our first meeting and said he would design a plan and estimate. Upon seeing the plan I hired TLC. The crew arrived each work day in a timely fashion and John was very hands on with his people. I was always kept in the loop. We drove to the nursery to pick out a tree and two specialty plants. We also went to a soil supply company so I could choose a small "boulder" for the river rock area and see the dyed bark that was going to be used. The landscaping was done within one week and it is wonderful! I love it. Since my install John has been in the neighborhood for a few estimates and he has stopped by to see how things are growing. I'm happy to report that even in the HOT weather nothing has perished and all plantings are thriving! I appreciated all the ideas and communication during the complete project. Needless to say, I am truly enjoying " my space". I am so pleased and wouldn't change a thing. I recommend John Troeschel and his company TLC The Landscaping Company to anybody wanting to have a great job done!

They did and excellent job. We got several estimates and it was comparable to the others we got. We liked them because they dealt with us the best.

The job started a week later than originally promised. The cause was a combination of weather and the contractors schedule change that we did not know of until we called and learned that his job before ours was expanded and he needed additional time to complete it. Weather was a large part of the delay. What was the most disappointing aspect of the job was that there was virtually no "Design" portion of the job completed, as this contractor advertises. I am not a horticulture expert but would rely on this contractors expertise to do the design. Other than the original three Arborvities, all the new plantings that happened during the construction phase where kind of "Wing it". I did make some changes as the job progressed and added some plantings that were not discussed during the estimate. Had there been a design plan initiated by the contractor, and a diagram of the intended finish product submitted at the onset, much of the "discussions" and additions that ensued could have been avoided. The perennials that were planted were disappointing, at best. Two, small, dried up little sticks that are currently still struggling to grow. Four Day Lillies planted are doing ok. There was also an existing plant that in April we indicated was to be "LEFT ALONE", that was pulled and trashed. Eventually replanted and is also struggling to survive. The mulch material, when purchased, was not the stone that had been chosen by me and recommended by the contractor at the original estimate. It was the wrong size. This caused a delay and added additional cost due to the error in the estimate.The job took three days rather than the two that were initially promised due to the additions that were made and the mix-up on the stone. The original dollar estimate was surpassed by $1060.00. Overall, I am satisfied with most of the job. There are some plants that could have been fresher. We are most disappointed with the communication skills and professionalism of TLC. At one point, Mr. Troeschel told me that he did not consider this job "large enough" to submit a sketch of the intended outcome to me. In our view, it is large and "Design" is part of his advertisement. No advertised discounts were applied to this job. Would I recommend TLC to others???? Yes, but I would tell them about this job and let them decide.

All went according to plan. What I appreciated most was the agreeableness and patience that the owner, John Troeschel, had while working with me. I changed my mind a couple times and needed extra time to search the internet for the right plants, etc., and he took this all very well. He, personally, and his assistant did excellent work for me, in accordance with what we'd agreed on. He seems to be a nice person, as well as an experienced professional. He's "customer friendly," and wants to his clients to be satisfied with the work he does for them.

First, John and his crew did an amazing job! Here is how he helped me. I had a large patio space that needed to be replaced. I also had a limited budget. I solicited no less than 10 estimates from different contractors, trying to find someone that would do a good job within my budget. I received numerous bids that were 2 and 3 times my budget, even when I told the other contractors my budget. Then came along John. He told me what we could do within our budget, offered suggestions of options to consider to keep within my budget, all while meeting our design expectations. John replaced the large section with new pavers. The outcome far exceeded my and my wife's expectations. John was on site every day doing the work. They were timely, clean, and provided a top notch patio. I would highly recommend John.

We were very satisfied. They did what they said they would do and showed up on time.

The over all process was excellent.

They did a good job. I would recommend people to take a look at them. Their prices were fair. I would use them in the future depending on the project. They were some things that they didn’t do quite as well, but for certain kinds of things like for the patio work they did a real nice job on that.

These guys did a great job. They relocated many English Boxwoods and other med size scrubs. The job I had for them was a bit confusing but they stuck with me and got everything done perfectly. I will definitely keep TLC's number handy and call them with any of my landscape needs.
