We just had Michael from Oak City Home Services come out for gutter and roof cleaning. Compared to a couple of prior experiences, this guy did an outstanding job. He's professional, courteous, and well-spoken. He'd previously explained that he was fully insured, and offered to have his insurer send over proof. He started with a walk around the house -- presumably to come up with a strategy for how best to do the work -- and then the ladder came out and he got right to work. Using a blower, he did the roof first, clearing a roof valley as well as around a skylight where debris tends to collect. Then he started clearing the gutters by hand. (A company I'd used previously basically just climbed up toward the gutters, and -- holding a leaf blower overhead -- just stuck it in the gutter and turned it of for a few seconds.) When I came out part way through the job, he noticed me right away, stopped what he was doing, and looked at me to see if I had any questions or needed to tell him anything. He didn't miss any of the gutters -- even a small section we have that's been missed by other services in the past. At the end of the job, we went around the house again with a leaf blower to clean up -- blowing the debris sometimes across the yard into areas where it blended right in. In fact, the yard looks better now than it did when he got here. He even cleared the driveway on his way back to his truck. Before he left, he explained that he guarantees his work, and that I should call him if I notice any problems the next time it rains. The ladder he used appeared to be well maintained and it had rubber end caps to protect the side of the house. Another ladder on his truck had a stabilizer/stand-off, which also helps protect against damage -- but the ladder with the stabilizer wasn't appropriate for where he climbed to the roof. He didn't lean the ladder directly against the gutters at any time. (A different company we'd used in the past had rubber end-caps, but they were so old and worn that they basically weren't functional, so it was nice to see them in good condition this time.) Based on this experience, I'd highly recommend this company for gutter cleaning services. According to their business card, they also do windows, pressure washing, and dryer vent cleaning, but we didn't require those services at this time. We learned about this company through an Angie's List deal, which cost us $59 up front. Their normal cost for my home is $75, which we've found to be very competitive. We intend to continue using this company for gutter cleaning in the future, and we'll get a quote from them for pressure washing the next time we need that service.

Cleaning the gutters seemed to be done pretty well. However, they left an approximately 4x4 pile of what came out of the gutters in my front yard. Would have been happy with the service other than that. The last place that cleaned my gutters didn't leave a trace of mess anywhere. In addition to the pile of trash, there was gutter contents around flower beds and a little bit around my front steps. With regard to Mr. Hall's response, my gutters had been cleaned in 2013, so I don't believe I left out much of the story, and I don't really appreciate him insinuating that I was being dishonest in some way.

All went well, even came back to address other concerns related to service call.

The service was outstanding. The job could not be done at the original time due to potential severe weather, but the contractor came at the earliest available time. The price represents the added amount for the gutter guards. The contractor went beyond expectations in cleaning off the sidewalk and an extensive deck. This was a great job!

This is a follow up post. Michael showed up abt 45 minutes after my first post. He explained that due to weather, he was unable to make yesterday appt. I explained that I understood that, but expected a response from my phone call and email... that all I wanted was communication from him. He said he sent an email to all his customers that because of weather, their appt would be rescheduled. I told him that I never rcd an email, and all I wanted was communication. He was polite and able to finish the job in 15-30 minutes. I would consider using him again, but be aware that he does not return phone calls, nor emails.

Arrived as scheduled and did a thorough job of power washing the house. I had also recently noticed one of our gutters overflowing during a heavy rain, so I asked to have the downspout checked since he also does our gutters... cleaned that out as well and all is good.

My gutters were really in need of a cleaning. He showed up and quickly cleaned them out and cleaned up the mess. Very professional and friendly. Definitely recommend!

Michael Hall was prompt courteous and very helpful. My home buyer had requested that the dryer vent be cleaned. Michael pointed out that it really did not need to be done since all that had happened was a small piece of lint had caused the outside cap to remain slightly open. He was honest enough to tell me to skip this and not spend the money. The gutters were really cleaned well as Micjael made sure the residual deposits were all "scooped" out.

Ok so the house was not trashed, as it is only 8 years old, but I am selling it and wanted it to be clean for viewing. He charged a little extra due to the size of the house but that was only fair. There was a good amount of green (from the trees) on one of the back corners of the house that has bothered me for years and he got rid of it without incident! Overall, excellent work. The only reason I gave a "B" for "Responsiveness" is because they were not able fit me in for almost 3 weeks from when I booked it but I guess that's a testament to business being good. Right? Also, I think the owner was getting married around that time so I am not sure. Either way, congratulations and thanks for the excellent work! Lisa D.

He did the windows satisfactorily but amazingly, he did not have a ladder long enough to reach my two story home/s gutters! He said that my cedar shingle roof first floor kitchen overhang was too slippery for him to stand on and that he just couldn't do the work that we had paid for! He said that he had only had two times in the past year when he needed a longer ladder so he never purchased one! My husband and I were furious and he realized that he was going to have to do something so he tried to rent a longer ladder from Home Deport. No luck. So, finally, since we were not going to let him get away with our money and no job completed, he called his old company, the Window Gang, and they came and finished the job on the gutters. What an experience! Would definitely consider this the worst deal I have ever gotten from Angie's List.

They came while I was at work and cleaned the gutters - I'd use them again

Great service, prompt response to date requests. Attention to detail. Will be getting another gutter cleaning and window washing in the fall.

They did an excellent job. Everything was spottless.

Cleaned out at gutters thoroughly, even very difficult to reach gutters. Blew away debris off the roof. cleaned debris from the ground; missed a couple of spots but got vast majority. Will call this provider back in the future.

He did a great job and I'd definitely use him again. Scheduling the appointment was easy and he showed up when expected.

After multiple reschedules to accommodate one or the other of our schedules, Michael Hall was finally able to come by and clean out the dryer vent. He did it while we were not home but came by at my request to show my husband what he did. I was pleased with his responsiveness.

Very easy but it was hard to tell if the provider visited. Didn't leave any materials or business card. Emailed to see how it went and no response. Seemed easy and clean though

Very efficient and friendly, gave us good advice going forward. Will use again for our vents and gutters!

We had many delays because of weather but the company always proactively emailed me with an update on time frame.

We were scheduled for a day that we were out of town and Oak City said that we did not need to be present for them to perform the service. We arrived home and found that the job had been done and the normal debris caused by cleaning out the gutters was gone. Very professional.

Great. I found 2 areas that were missed after he left. He immediately returned and fixed the problem. Great Job!

Did any excellent job, was a bit disappointed that he did not wash sills

Gutters were previously cleaned 2 months previous but because we have 2 trees in the front of the house that hold onto their leaves a little longer we scheduled to have the gutters cleaned again. The service was done while we were not at home and cannot speak to punctuality or professionalism of service person. I did notice after booking the job that the service provider had a special price offer that was not brought to our attention. I also noticed leaves on top of a bay window that bumps out from the house which gave me some reason to question what the gutters looked but could not verify completeness of leaf removal because of the need to get up on a ladder and check.
