Before work began, I was provided samples of the replacement roof shingles on a typical manufacturer's sample board. I selected the dark brown shingles as that was the closest match to our current roof, and it coordinated with the other colors of the house. So everything was scheduled very easily, and all insurance work and notice was done pretty easily. So work began a few weeks later early in the morning, and I pulled out of my driveway excited to come home and see my new roof. However, when I pulled back onto my block that evening, I was pretty surprised at what I pulled up to: a bright tan roof! I immediately searched for the supervisor, but there wasn't one to be found. On top of that... nobody spoke english. I called the next morning and was told to speak to the supervisor when he arrived for final inspection. When they did, I told them that the roof was the wrong color. He firmly stated no, and that I must somehow be mistaken, because their order forms clearly state I ordered tan. Why would I order a tan roof for a yellow siding and red brick house?!? They continued to insist that I must have told the salesman tan instead of dark brown, so it was somehow my fault. They refused to take any responsibility!
Despite my complaining, they moved forward with the insurance billing, and everything was paid. So now, I'm stuck with a tan roof and red brick, and a constant struggle to find a way to make it all match and coordinate. I pull up ot my house every day and hate what I see.
A few weeks after this, JGP went me a nice little email asking me to refer them to my friends. I again brought up my complaint, and they not only denied it, but they again accused me of making some kind of mistake. What kind of mistake could I have made? I pointed to a shingle on a sample board, and said, "I want that one." The salesman must have put in a typo with the item number or something. Regardless, they don't care, and they've expressed how much they don't care several times.
To pour salt on the wound, since the roof has been complete, I've had several roofers come to my door asking if I'd likea new roof. When I explain that it is new, they take a step back and look at it, and give me a weird look.
I went with a 20 year roof since JGP said the 30 year roof would be an extra $500-$700 out of my pocket. Come to find out, no other roofer in town charges the homeowner anything extra for the 30 year roof.
I strongly advise anyone to go with another roofing company for any work. JGP is sloppy with the ordering, unsupervised, and have no acocuntability or professional care for their mistakes.
"I feel sorry for [member name removed], The core problem and reason for his complaint is the fact that he picked out his roof color without his wife's approval. As a result his wife did not like the color he chose. Our new policy is to make sure all parties are involved in making color selections. Sincerely, Richard Wojtalik JG P Restoration Company"
"I would like to start by apologizing to the member for not performing up to her expectations. My crew did make a couple of foolish mistakes that where later corrected. One, they installed coil flashing material to her brick wall, which had to be removed and replaced with the correct material and second they discovered a cracked rafter in her 60 year old garage and used some of the material she had in her attic to make the repair. The above items where addressed promptly and the proper corrections where made to remedy the issues. The member is a very theerall customer and I appreciate that. Her project was a unique job because we where dealing with an older home with unique challenges. I felt at the end of the project all her expectations had been meet and full-filled. It was very disheartening to find this report on Angie"s list after working so hard to make your customer happy. I will definitely use this experience to better my company. Rich Wojtalik"
