Description of Work: When we originally met with the representative for this company we were very happy with the service we received. We've never had to replace a roof or siding before so we were glad to have someone who was experienced. When the rep went over the claim paperwork that we received from our insurance adjuster he surprised us by telling us that the insurance company paid for our whole house to be reroofed as well as wrapped and have new siding put on. We questioned him about this extensively and even talked about dimensions of just our garage since it wasn't what the adjuster had told us; per our adjuster our insurance company was only going to wrap and replace the siding one 1 side of our home, but the Reliable Roofing representative swore that he knew what he was talking about and that the insurance company had given us enough money for both of these projects. Since he was so adamant, we trusted him and were so excited that we picked out a new color for our house and even hired them to put a new roof on our shed so that it would match the new one on our house. We asked the representative if someone was going to measure our house for the siding before we signed the contract just to be on the safe side but he said there was no need; he wrote on the contract that his company would wrap and put vinyl siding on our whole house, replace the roof and we were going to pay an additional price for our shed roof. We were really so excited and looking forward to seeing the finished product. We wrote a down-payment check, which they cashed and then the problems started. To make a long story short, we were told that the representative had made a mistake about the siding but they couldn't match our color so they were going to try and get the insurance to pay the difference between in price. I guess some policies might hold money back until they receive proof of the work done, our insurance policy doesn't do that. When we questioned the owner of Reliable he emailed us that he would uphold the contract that his employee made even if our insurance company didn't pay out anymore money; well since the Reliable employee lied and the color of our vinyl is matchable there was no more money forthcoming. Once they learned that the owner did apologize but said that he could not keep his word and uphold the contract. After a few weeks of pushing, we did finally get the full amount of our deposit check back and a promise that they would fix the piece of vinyl siding that their employee cut off of the back of our home. Again two weeks later, I am still waiting for the damage this company did to my siding to be repaired and I now have to find another contractor to replace my roof and the side of my house that has hail damage. We were not looking to get work done for free but we had questioned this representative about why he thought our insurance company paid for the vinyl siding and exterior wrapping of our home when that's not what we were told the insurance company would pay for that we figured we must not know what we were talking about and so we trusted this company. Wow, what a mistake; and then for the owner of Reliable Roofing to email us their word that they would uphold the contract and say oops no, sorry we can't do that, we need to cancel it. I would not recommend this company for anything.

Response from Reliable Roofing & Exteriors
With all due respect this complaint comes as a big surprise due to the fact that our company went above and beyond for this customer. There was miscommunication between their insurance company, our company and the customer. We've been in business for quite a while and this isn't our first insurance claim. There was an understanding between our company and the insurance company in regards to the homeowners vinyl siding that is very common when dealing with old faded siding. After meeting with the homeowner in person and thoroughly explaining exactly what was going on and the possible outcomes this really comes as a shock considering once we weren't able to agree on what work would be done, they received a full refund within a week after our agreement had been cancelled. Not only did we wipe away a $1,000 deductible, give them a $700 discount to roof their shed, but also a free upgrade to an architectural shingle for their house and shed to match. Like stated before we went above and beyond to make them happy. Without them paying anything extra out of their pocket it was financially impossible for us to rewrap their entire house for no extra money. One of our representatives went to their property twice to explain this in detail and even supported their business by buying a glass of honey as a friendly gesture. Once again we are very surprised and disappointed for the complaint. We've done thirty plus properties in their neighborhood alone including seven plus on their street with the most recent one being completed 8-30-14. We apologize for any inconvenience but we can honestly walk away knowing that we did everything in our power to please this homeowner just as we do with every customer no matter how big or small the job is.
