This is the second time we've used Hughes. Both times they were pleasant & professional. They found the same carpet we had purchased a year earlier in a different bedroom. Will use them again. They have installed carpet for several if my neighbors which is how we found them.

My sales experience with Hughes was excellent. I was shown a wide range of products and the salesperson spent a great deal of time answering my questions and helping me make a decision. The first crew from Hughes did an excellent job installing the laminate flooring in my kitchen and laundry room. The quality of the product and the workmanship was excellent. The crew kept me well informed throughout the job. They were professional and I would gladly welcome them into my home again. The second crew from Hughes installed carpet in five rooms and the hall upstairs. Again, the quality of the product was excellent. The workmanship in the bedrooms was also excellent. In the rec room, the carpet was pieced multiple times in the dormer area. It also appears that one piece in the dormer doesn't match exactly. When the job was done, I was given the excess carpet from the bedrooms, but there was not even a small piece of carpet from the rec room available for a sample. I later found what appears to be a small burn on the rec room carpet. Although one of the four installers on the second crew was professional and demonstrated interest in pleasing the customer, others did not represent the company well. The crew chief made comments about the Hughes family business operation that were not appropriate to be shared with me, a customer. He also had a disagreement with me about the movement of furniture and damage to a desk drawer. (A simple adjustment to the drawer made by one of the other installers corrected that problem.) I was not concerned that there was a disagreement, but I found the way it was handled to be inappropriate. This same installer had a disagreement with the other members of the crew and left the job early on day one. A third installer smoked outside while working with the carpet. There were other lesser issues. I felt an obligation to share my experience with the business owner. After making an appointment, I met with him and my salesperson for more than an hour on July 25. I shared everything shared here and more. The salesperson made a followup visit to my home and satisfied several of my installation related concerns. No action was taken with regard to the carpet in the dormers or the carpet that appeared to have a small burn. I have done business with Hughes in the past and was extremely happy with all aspects of the experience. This time, I was happy with the sales experience and the quality of the product. Unfortunately, I would not use this provider again because of my experience with the carpet installation crew.
Description of Work: Hughes Floor Covering completed two back-to-back jobs. The first crew installed laminate flooring in my kitchen and laundry room. The following week, another crew installed carpet upstairs.

Hughes Floor Covering Inc were scheduled to work about 9 months ago, I had to fire them mid-job, they were awful and they were mean. Their prices were in line with everybody else, but when I told them not to do the job, they did not return my deposit. They called me missy which really annoyed me so much and I will never use them again and I tell everybody about them. They were going to bring floors in the morning and install them that day without acclimating them or anything and they hadn't prepped the floor or anything.

Don't expect any follow-up. Initial contact was more than helpful. Instantly wanted to be your best friend. Made too many religious references, alluded to personal problems and even wanted us to look at pics of the grandkids. However, once the deal was made - silence. Installers found they did not have enough carpet, but were able to make do after a panic call to our salesman. Installers were great guys. Still no follow-up. After a month or so, we made several calls to repair a loose piece of capet at a floor threshold. Promises made. Have never heard back. This company put my original carpet in over 10 years ago and mismeasured it then. Thought I'd give them another chance.

After a disappointing first impression for a different national carpeting company, I stopped by Hughes Flooring on the way home from work.I was greeted directly and asked questions to get an idea of my flooring needed. Within minutes I was directed to the type of carpet I was looking for and the price range within my budget. I was given samples to take with me to help me choose and they scheduled a measurement around my schedule (which happened to be a Saturday). The measurement when smooth, and I was provided an estimate on the spot. The carpet did have to be special ordered, but it came in just a few days later. We had the installation scheduled and the installer were on time and nice. The installers finished the job in one day and the carpet looks great.

The job went very well from start yo finish. We can find nothing negative to say from meeting with the salesmen, their visit to our home to do the estimate, their fast start date and the quality of the product and the workmanship of the installers. Great experience for us.
Description of Work: Hughes Floor Covering Co. did an A+ job. They were early both days, went right to work, were very polite and wanted to please. Their workmanship was excellent, did the job in a timely fashion and cleaned up upon completion. Their price was competitive, but you get what you pay for. Our floor is beautiful.

My wife and I decided we had lived with squeaky bathroom floors and a stained rug long enough. We had previously had some work done by Hughes and we were extremely pleased at how it turned out. So we went back to them for this project. The salesman was very helpful. He showed us as many samples as we wanted to see and made very helpful recommendations. We agreed on a time and date for him to come and take the measurements. He showed up right on time. The measurements were taken and unfortunately, because we were putting in ceramic tile over linoleum we needed more molding than was currently down in the bathrooms. So the measurements for this were off a bit .However, this was taken care of by the installers. I called Hughes a week or so later to set up a date for installing the rug and tile. We discussed some strategy, since we couldn't have all three bathrooms disabled at once. We decided that the installers would remove the toilets but the plumber would replace them since some adjustments would have to be made because of the added floor height. The rug installers arrived first, again, on time. They unloaded all of the materials for both jobs. There was only two of them and I thought that they would be a while pulling up the old rug and padding and putting down the new stuff. they were incredibly efficient though and had the whole job finished in a few hours. And it was perfectly done. The tile installers arrived later. Initially there was only one of them, which had me concerned. But needlessly, as it turned out. He set about doing the prep work including removing the two upstairs toilets. The other installer arrived a while later and set up the saws and such. The upstairs bathrooms were finished enough so that the plumbers could replace the toilets the next day. So they did that and also removed the toilet downstairs so that the tile guys could start the work down there. Now the tile guys were not the neatest in the world but given the materials they work with this is understandable. They did a great job on the tile. It really looks fantastic and everything cleaned up beautifully. In conclusion I would highly recommend Hughes floor coverings for their quality products and knowledge of those products and also the quality of their installers. After all if you buy a quality product it does you no good if the installation is messed up. We have had this experience in the past which is why we went to Hughes.

No complaints; quality work was performed. Would use them again.
Description of Work: Installed hardwood flooring in 3 rooms and a hallway.
We worked with Angie Hughes to select hardwood flooring for the master bedroom and upstairs hallway. With her patient guidance and help we selected a handscraped black acacia hardwood in a 4 inch width. Flooring was ordered and installed in a timely fashion. Workmanship was first rate. Since this area was carpeted previously, Hughes Floor Covering had to remove carpet and padding, make sure the underlayment was tight, then install the hardwood flooring. The outcome exceeded our expectations. We would definitely use them for future projects.

This is a split review. The office and sales staff were terrific and helpful and accommodating. Tim, the salesperson, was great to work with. On the other hand... the installers were a nice bunch of guys, BUT the hardwood installers made a huge mess: they created an unexpected amount of dust and didn't cover up furniture; they put dirty tools on my light-colored upholstered sofa (I later found a box-cutter between the cushions) and leaned a filthy garbage can against the sofa; they walked around outside cutting boards and going to and from their van and then walked inside with their heavy work boots--all over the new hardwood floor with no regard for the stones and debris they were tracking in; they piled hardwood boxes and other junk on my new quilt in the bedroom instead of taking it outside. I spent several days cleaning up dust after they left. In addition, I had to clean the upholstery and the window coverings throughout the house; the new quilt needed to be cleaned. All the dust fried the Time Warner cable box, so it got replaced.

I had someone come out to let me know how much it would cost to have carpet replaced in one room and hardwood flooring installed in another area. At this time I was not shown any samples of carpet or wood flooring. I was told that I would hear back from them and would be given an estimate. When one week passed without hearing anything back, I called the office and spoke to a woman who said that she would have someone call me back that day. It is now two weeks later from that time and I have yet to hear anything. I have now moved on to another company who will be doing the work for me. Hughes Flooring came recommended from a friend, but I will not be using any company that takes over three weeks (at least-who knows if they ever plan to call me back) to provide an estimate. Very disappointed.

It was a very nice experience. The salesman came to the house for measurements and gave us an estimate. We set up the installation date and they arrived on time. We rented a sample board from Lowe's that had all the colors of Bruce flooring on it. We selected the sample that matched our existing downstairs flooring the closest, then learned that Lowe's would take several weeks to get the flooring in. So our handyman went to Hughes, who also sells Bruce flooring, and was told it would only be a couple of days for the order to arrive. They were more expensive than Lowe's by quite a bit, but we wanted the job done quickly, before an upcoming mortgage appraisal on our house. We also needed the job done quickly because we have four children and we had to take the banister and handrails off the stairs in order to install the new flooring. This left a dangerous 12 foot drop from the upstairs hallway to the foyer below. The order arrived at the store and my handyman picked it up and delivered it to our house to get it acclimated over a weekend before installing. When we opened the boxes the following Monday, we realized the color was much darker than the Bruce sample and we couldn't use it. We called Hughe's and they refused to take the flooring back. Finally, after much arguing, they agreed to take it back if I paid a $450 restocking fee. I reluctantly paid the fee and my handyman returned the flooring. He also pried up a piece of our existing flooring and found a better match in the Bruce flooring, and ordered it. This time the flooring took a week to arrive (still no banister on the stairs!), and my handyman delivered it to our house to acclimate over a weekend. We opened a box right away to check the color and discovered that the stair noses were completely the wrong color. Our wood is a dark walnut, and this was a light blonde color. We called Hughes right away, and at first they denied that the stock number on the box of blonde wood even existed. We sent them pictures via cell phone, and eventually they agreed that the wrong item was ordered/sent and they would reorder the correct color and exchange the wrong ones at no charge. This took another week, as the closest suppliers didn't have the stair noses in stock. At this point I was really regretting not using Lowe's, and I was afraid that one of the kids was going to fall over the edge of the stairs. When the replacement stair noses finally arrived, the salesman (Tim) drove to my house and delivered it, and picked up the blonde colored wood. We didn't run into any more problems during this weeks-long fiasco, but I would not use Hughes Flooring again. We try to support small family owned businesses, even if it costs a little more. But sometimes it's just less hassle to deal with the big name stores. Certainly Lowe's is closer, and I wouldn't have had to pay my handyman for hours of driving to and from Hughes.
Description of Work: We wanted to have our handyman install engineered hardwood flooring on our stairs and upstairs hallway, to match the existing flooring downstairs. We went with Hughes Flooring because they could get the same Bruce flooring in less time than Lowe's.

After looking at samples in the Hughes Flooring Showroom, Rodney came to our house to measure, and to evaluate so he could make recommendation on type of wood flooring that would be best suited for our house. He indicated he could install either solid wood or engineered wood flooring. Evaluated all the other wood in our house. After completing our research and talking with a couple of manufacturers, we decided to go with Mullican's Brazilian teak 5 inch engineered wood flooring. Once ordered, the wood was delivered within 3 days and installation started within a week. The length of installation took several days longer than estimated and the mess and dust it created was much more than predicted. The installers did not usually start very early in the morning or when they said they would be here, but definitely left every day at the same time. The final look and quality is consistent with our expectations, it just took longer. Rodney personally came out to inspect and was very responsiveness in addressing the replacement of a 6-7 boards that had imperfections. We are very pleased with the final high end look and quallity of the product.
Description of Work: Installed Mullican Brazilian teak engineered wood flooring.......we have a ranch that primarily had carpet in all bedrooms and liviing areas, with the exception of kitchen and breakfast area which had tile. We had the flooring installed in all areas except two bedrooms. Our ranch is on a slab, so we did a lot of research on the typ of wood flooring that is best suited for installation on a slab. Wood flooriing space measured at approximately 1500 sq ft.

I have a mixed review on them. From an installation perspective, the sub-contractors who came out to do the work were phenomenal. The quality of the work was excellent. The pricing ended up being a lot more than what he had initially quoted. I never got a written estimate before they actually did the work.
Description of Work: I bought covering from Hughes Floor Covering.
We called on a Friday afternoon to see about setting an appt. to discuss replacing the 18 year old wall to wall carpeting on the 2nd floor with cork flooring. Randy Hughes, the owner, returned our call late Friday afternoon and was able to come by on Saturday (before his golf game I believe). He had brought lots of samples for us to look at of cork flooring. We decided on a floor covering and gave our deposit check. Randy called me early Monday morning, concerned that cork flooring might not be our best bet since we have 2 "pound puppies", 60 pound Emma (yellow lab mix) and 50 pound Jake (affectionately called "crazy Jake" a whippet lab mix) who have the run of the house and are very playful. He brought out samples of alternative floor coverings that afternoon. The alternative we decided upon was an 18" square floating porcelain tile - a tile mimicking Italian travertine stone. The gorgeous tile and the simple installation (no wonder-board or mastic needed) were perfect for our needs! The installation went beautifully - smoothly and professionally. Additionally, we had carpeting replaced on the back stairs with a lovely durable carpet. Both installations were done in 5 days. We have been enjoying the new tile floors for 3 weeks now. Randy was great and his installers quick and tidy. We highly recommend Hughes Floor Covering and would definitely use them for any floor covering work in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced wall to wall carpeting in 4 bedrooms, hallway and a large office (bonus room). We have large, heavy furniture, quite a few antiques and lots of it.
This was our second experience with Hughes, and as usual it went even better than expected. Their estimate was more than reasonable and the work was done quickly and professionally. This room gets a lot of heavy use by our kids and their friends and the floors and rug look as gorgeous as the day they were installed four months ago.
Description of Work: Hughes installed beautiful pecan hardwoods in our downstairs den as well as a custom-cut area rug.

The sales person was very helpful as I visited mutiple times, trying to select carpets for bedrooms and a sunroom. He shared priciing for various options on the first day; when i selected my carpets the actual pricing was higher than originally quoted - luckily I had saved my notes, and so they gave me the originally quoted prices. Although the salesman had come to my house to measure before I purchaed the carpet, the isntallation team refused to bring the carpet into my house, because it required carrying it up stairs: thank heavens my contractor was there and ended up carrying the carpet up himself, while the installation team sat in their truck, smoking cigarettes! Installation was fine for 2 bedrooms, but the 3rd bedroom carpet had streaks of color throughout (they had to take it back) and the sunroom carpet had large holes in it from a forklift (also had to return it). Hughes salesman assured me the replacement carpets would arrive quickly, but only after 3-4 calls from me, multiple calls from my contractor and several missed due dates, did the carpet arrive! The carpet is nice and the price was reasonable, but getting it installed was quite stressful and frustrating!

Response from Hughes Floor Covering
The carpet installers went to the house which was new construction, They wanted our installers to take the carpet up a set hand made steps through a window to get the carpet in the house. the two guys were not able to lift the carpet up and through a window, so the contractor said that he had enough guys he would get it inside the house. There were streaks in the carpet so we reordered it came in we put it in as soon as it came in and the the other piece of carpet when we rolled it out to install it at the end of the roll there were some holes so we reordered it, it was on back order when it was ordered there again just as is came in we put it in also. We do try to please every one of our customers, we don't make the carpet. Sorry for any stress or frustration this may have caused you.
