Description of Work: Found this company at Italian Festival in Ft Mill. Set up appointment for Tuesday 5/20/2014. I received an email confirming, a phone call day begore, then nothing. No one showed up called or anything. We have come to expect greater service from Angies List contractors. Personally, I would like companies like Carolina Home Remodeling be removed from Angies List.

Insulation team arrived on time. Very friendly and informative. It was very cold and two days they were here and they had to work outside. They worked until dark and completed the project the next day. They cleaned up any mess and made sure we were happy before they left.

When I first contacted the company they were very quick to send someout to discuss my best options for new windows. The gentlemen was professional and courteous. He gave me my options and made his recommendations. He went ahead and did measurements so he didn't have to come back out again. Once I decided which windows I wanted I called back and the windows were ordered. About a week or so later I received a call stating my windows were in and a time was set for them to come and out and install them. A small crew came out to the house with the new windows and it took them most of the day to remove and replace the windows which was expected. I was surprised how well they cleaned up after themselves when they were finished. They cleaned out the inside of the house around the windows, removed all of the old windows and "junk" that went with them. It is amazing what new windows will do for an old home - they look great, keep the noise down and will hopefully help with utilities.

Not well. After our experience. I checked Angie's List for all reports on this company. I find that the last good report they got was back in 2006. Something bad has happened to the company since then. We got our appointment through a rep ae BJs. The salesmen were very punctual, but everything went downhill from then on. The first guy to show up was too heavy to even go upstairs to look at the attic! He gave a long pitch and a quote from the square footage numbers we provided him. Then his boss showed up and they finally went upstairs to look at the attic. Again, after playing with their calculators and referring to their manuals, they came up with the same number the first guy had ($4000). I told them that was way too high, and then it was off to the same scenario as reported by a prior Angies List members. More pitches, quotes, calls to the office, special offers and financing offers, even though we kept telling then no! We finally got rid of them after at least 3 agonizing hours. I have no confidence in their quote, except that it would give their company a very fat profit. I was a Product Cost Estimator before I retired, and I know you can't give an accurate quote from the ground, unless you have a very large profit factor built in. They never offered to show us any of their calculations.

The products we offer are high quality and have a lifetime warranty so our prices may not compete with other companies who offer a lesser quality product. We have an A+ rating with the better business bureau and have many repeat customers. We strive to make our customers happy and it is unfortunate that the member was not pleased with his quoted price and that his estimate went on too long. We appreciate this feedback and will use it to better our company.

Carolina Home Remodeling was the company that installed our E-shield barrier in our attic. First, they installed the E-shield on the rafters and not the attic floor as clearly stated in our contract. While they were installing it on the rafters, they broke through our attic floor not once, but TWICE in the same day. The first hole was foot-sized. The second hole was 3 ft X 3 ft. into my daughter's bedroom. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The first crew tried to repair the holes in the ceiling and they clearly did not know how to repair it well. A second crew came out to repair the dry wall. They were not punctual. Then they had to bring out a third crew to repaint the ceilings. The next crew came back to install e-shield on the floor but only installed it in 2/3 of the attice. They left a lot of debris, including white paint on our front entrance steps. We had to do a lot of cleaning and we repainted my daughter's bedroom as they did not return it to its original condition. Another crew finally came out and completed the E-shield where it was supposed to be installed in the first place. All the time, the office staff was very responsive. They just didn't have good communication with their crews and they did not employ highly skilled workers.

Our installations are usually done within a few days, professionally installed with factory trained workers and are completed without any disruptions. We apologize that this was not the case with this customer's installation. We have corrected all of the problems and damage that occurred during the installation and since our work is guaranteed we have urged this customer to call if they have any problems pertaining to this job in the future.

Carolina Home Remodeling has representatives in Sam's Club offering services. Since we were taking bids on insulation for our attic, my wife made an appointment. On the day of the appointment, the representatives arrived exactly on time. They were prompt, polite, and friendly. After assessing our attic space and measuring our home, it was sales pitch time. They showed us their product (a radiant barrier), explained the benefits, and gave us a price (almost $10,000!). When I told them that we were still in the process of assessing other bids, and that we weren't making commitments until we had all the bids in front of us, it was push time. I told them their bid was extremely high. They offered us financing. They extolled the virtues of their product ("It's green! It's the best solution! It's guaranteed!"). When I finally convinced them that we weren't buying anything, they gathered their things, and the salesman said he had to call the office, to let them know that "he had done his job". He then proceeded to pick up his phone, stand in my dining room, and talk to some guy at the other end, restating EVERY point he had gone over already. ("Yes, I told them about the great energy savings. Yes, I told the customer that he could get a 30% tax credit for buying this product..."). It was ridiculous. As he left, the lead salesman invited me to his car where he showed me another product that would do the same job, "or we could just blow in some insulation..." (what I wanted in the first place!) "...but we think this is the best product for what you need." In the next couple of days, we received a call from the office, offering us a "manager's special" for "people like us". More gimmicks. We told them that if they couldn't offer us their best price to do a simple job in the course of the 2 and a half hours they were here, we weren't interested, and to please not call again. This experience convinced me to never invite sales people into my home if they have a stand in Sam's Club.

This salesman is no longer with our company and we apologize that this member who received this estimate felt bombarded and harrassed by this sale's rep. It is never our intention to make our customers feel as if they are being pushed around. We give free estimates/consulations to educate our customers on products they are in need, explain the process of our installation and to give a quote. We give free, no obligation quotes and if the customer is ready to purchase that day that is great but if not then the customer at least has an idea as to the cost of the product and what will be involved with the installation.

The experience with this company was a horror story. The first day 2 workmen showed up and one was the boss. He had a cast on his arm and the young man he had working with him smoked like a chimney. They were both very polite the first day but the work did not go well!! The boss of the project promised me a time he would be there and was late!! He would leave after only being there for a short time leaving the the one or two employees on there own. I did call the company and complained but they kept promising me they were the best!!!! When the job was completed I asked the company to please come out and see all the problems my husband found. They found a list of numerous problems, from windows not being cut and fitted properly to caulking areas being missed. They needed to send another worker who spent a whole day trying to fix the shoddy work done!! I would NEVER recommend them!! They actual had the nerve to call saying they had not heard from me regarding other home improvements we had dicussed. In no uncertain terms I advised them NOT to call me again. The owner did call me and apologize, did take action with the employees, and had the work completed although I can not yet decide if all has been fixed. Thank heavens they are gaurenteed so if I do find a problem they will have to repair it. I had told the owner of my calls regarding the work and the answers I received about them being the best and asked if they thought they were dealing with a hysterical woman!! I was very dissatisfied that they NEVER came out even after my original complaint to check on the progress. I can only say it was a horrible experience and would want no one to go through it. I have never written or complained like this before, but I felt it needed to be done.

We did take action with the installers on this job and they are no longer with our company. It is unfortunate that this member had to go through this installation headache and that there was miscommunication about the work being done. We never intend that to happen and our installs are usually quick, thorough and completed to the customers satisfaction. The work was fully completed to the satisfaction of this customer and we told the customer that if there are any issues to call us and we immediately take care of the situation.

I received numerous calls from their office bugging me to commit till finally I had enough and told them not to call me anymore. Even though we liked their product, we were less than impressed about their sales pitch and will not call this company to do the work. ($28,500)
Description of Work: We wanted to get all our windows and front door replaced and also needed some repair work on siding done. The company was good in getting sales people out to as quickly, but then the whole process became very uncomfortable and pushy. The salesmen Scott Currie and Mark King spent two (!) hours at our house selling their product. Even when our little one got fussy because it was her lunchtime they did not get our hints and wouldn't leave! One of them even joined me as I was feeding my child, continuing to explain their product to me! My husband and I had just started our search and made it clear that we were not going to commit to anything at this point. But after they finally gave us an estimate (they wanted to play a game and have my husband and me "guess" how much it was), they kept asking what they needed to do for us to commit. They were very impertinent and just would not leave! Finally they gave up and left, suddenly loosing all their friendliness!

These two salesmen are no longer with our company and we apologize that this estimate was uncomfortable and went on for too long for this customer. Description of Work: They are working with BJ's. I signed up for an estimate. After a very long sales pitch, I told the salesman I wanted to think it over. He lowered the price, saying it was in the company's best interest to not have to send him back. The price was still too high for me, and I told him I'd think about it. Once he began packing up his stuff and getting ready to leave, he no longer looked at me and he did not shake my hand before leaving. It was very tense and left me feeling lousy. I would still hire the company if I thought they were the best, but I did not like dealing with the salesman at all!

Company representatives were very knowledgeable, consistently on time from the sales representatives to the actual construction employees to the one sub-contractor (electrical). Company customer service representatives were communicative and kept us informed as to the status on an ongoing basis. Workers were always courteous, cleaned up on a daily basis, were very efficient and communicated to us what they were doing and estimated completion dates. The entire project started on a Monday and was finished by Friday with only the final inspections having to be completed the following Monday.
