A-1 Carpet & Tile

I recently purchased vinyl flooring for the kitchen, laundry, and 2 bath rooms. I went to A-1 due to the high number of A ratings from other AL members. I was very impressed. When I first visited the showroom, I was undecided about 2 flooring samples. Mohammed allowed me to take the samples home and view them in my house. I returned them within 4 hours. He gave me an estimate based on my measurements, subject to revision after he took measurements at my house. He arrived at the agreed time to measure; no change in his estimate. He indicated when I arrived at the showroom that it would be 2 weeks until he could install; however, he managed to get it installed in about 10 days. The work crew moved appliances and even plugged in the refrigerator while it sat in my dining room for several hours during installation. The work took longer than I expected, but the crew was very polite and professional. Kenneth introduced himself right away and explained that he would do a good job and assured me that I would be pleased with his work. He was right. They were able to remove stained wood shoe molding and reuse it. In two rooms that had no molding, I volunteered to purchase and stain the molding to have it on hand for them. They installed that molding in those two rooms. The job was probably too big for one day and it might have been better to have split it up over two days, as they were here for over 12 hours. I am pleased with the work done and very pleased with my choice of flooring. I would use A1 again and would gladly recommend them to friends.

All work was fabulous, professional, and completed as promised. We would definitely recommend A-1 as they did everything as promised. We were very pleased with the work and the new carpet. We had a big job for them and they were willing to work long hours to complete the installation quickly.

Previous renters left the house in bad shape. Carpet needed replacing. Mohammad replaced the carpet in the master suite downstairs. He also replaced upstairs bedrooms x2 as well as open loft area. His team did great work at a great price. They cleaned up well after finishing. Professional and polite.

Went to A-1 carpeting and made appointment for a free estimate. Mohammed made the appointment for that very day. He was thorough, set a price and without my asking him, gave me a 5% discount for being a member of Angie's List. He did what he said he would; kept us in the loop when the company sent the wrong carpet; reordered it and still made the date we originally set up. No hidden costs and no surprises. I would definitely recommend him and use A-1 again.

It turned out to be a positive experience. Mohammed is the owner and salesman and I dealt with him. His pricing was very, very good. We picked out our samples and agreed to an installation date. He even came by to do the measurements and make sure that we were on target with everything. We were only going to do the bathroom and closet but after talking to him, we decided to do the kitchen as well. Kenny was the installer for the vinyl. He was a real nice guy but he was short handed. The bathroom flooring came out okay but there was a loose spot. He could not use the closet carpet so he gave us a piece of carpet for free. That carpet had been stored for a long time and had creases and had to be stapled together. Within a day after the install, the staples started to work up through the pile in the carpet. Also he tore the vinyl on the kitchen flooring when he was moving back the refrigerator. I called Mohammed and he came out. He said he would replace the closet carpet at no charge and fix the bathroom and kitchen floor. Kenny came back and he was very gracious and got the job done. It was a good experience but it wasn't perfect. He made the effort to fix things. I don't know if I would use them again; they would not be my first choice.

Mohammed arrived for the estimate on time and was very professional and had suggestions and listened to what we were looking for. We actually decided to proceed with floor installation and it went well. Unfortunately we did have issues with the floor installers doing about $75.00 of drywall damage, but Mohammed took care of this immediately. After 3 days we have beautiful floors and my wife and I are happy with the overall experience.

This company responded on a one-day notice. We were in the middle of renovating a large bedroom and needed the carpet re-stretched at the point that the new baseboards had been installed but before furniture was brought back in. At first, A-1 said it would be impossible to accommodate us for at least two weeks as they were booked solid with other jobs. I stressed that we were on a tight schedule, and we didn't care how late in the day the job had to be done. We just needed someone there on March 4 since the furniture had to be brought back into the room the next day. We received a call late in the day that a job was being finished up nearby and a van would arrive around 6:00 p.m. The gentlemen drove up, went straight to work, had a female assistant who cleaned carefully behind them, and our carpet looked brand new when the job was finished. I would recommend this company to absolutely anyone. I was even given my Angie's List discount, or the price would have been $159.00.

Could not be more pleased! From helping us select a product all the way through installation, these guys were fabulous. We'll be using them again in the near future to install tile in the mud room.

They were prompt, courteous, & did a great job. I would highly recommend them.

It was a great experience from beginning to end. It took two trips but everything was completed in a timely matter. Mohammed's men worked straight through until all the work was completed. I could not have asked for a better experience.

We needed new carpet for our bonus room. After checking reviews on Angie's List, we went to A-1 to check out samples. I had a rough idea of how much carpet costs per sq yd so after a little bit of negotiation we settled on a price. We were waiting for our wood floor refinishing to be completed first, so Mohammed waited a few weeks to schedule a date. The crew came to our house and completed the job unsupervised. The finished job looked great.

I'm not going to waste time with a long winded write-up.. I needed Carpet for two Bedrooms. I had samples of the carpet quality I wanted to match. I Contracted A-1 and others. A-1 had the quality, they were the most curtious, had the best price and most flexible install schedule. If you want quality carpet at a fair price, installed professionally call Mohommed A-1

We needed to replace carpet in two rooms of a finished basement because of dust allergies. A1 had received good ratings so it was one of the sites we visited. The owner presented us with a number of selections that fitted our needs and gave us a preliminary estimate of cost base on our estimate of the area involved. He was very helpful and did not pressure us to choose any particular flooring. He came to the house after closing his shop that night to make exact measurements and give us a firm estimate and set up an installment time. The installers were on time, removed the old carpet, and put in the new floor in a day and a half. The owner came by several times to make sure everything was correct and even called a couple of days after finishing to see if there were any problems with the install. Everything was A-OK. I could not ask for a better experience.

The two-person crew which was sent out each time carefully removed old carpet, padding and staples in the floor. They were efficient, pleasant, prompt and the service well worth what we paid for it. They cleaned up after their work and took all the old carpet and padding away.

Mohommed was wonderful in explaining types of carpeting, padding, price, and spent as much time with us as we needed. He was very easy to work with in accommodating our needs and schedules. His crew arrived promptly and were a pleasure to work with. They far exceeded our expectations for this project from start to finish. We highly recommend A-1 Carpeting.

Though the workmanship was top-notch and the professionalism of the owner was never in question, we did run in to some difficulties that resulted in an extended amount of time for each installation. The tile installer was supposed to have an assistant but the assistant had transportation problems and never made it and the one gentleman ended up doing all of the work himself. He was amazing, but naturally, working alone took longer. With the carpet, the installers were excellent as well but after they were done we noticed a flaw that looked like a seam in the middle of the living room. I had inspected the job before the furniture went back in and hadn't noticed the flaw. My wife saw it when she got home. I sent a picture and A-1 replaced the carpet in the room no questions asked. All in all there were a couple of bumps but Mohammed handled them quickly and efficiantly and made the process as painless as possible.

I had 2 rooms that needed new carpet very bad! My master bedroom which is fairly big and a bonus room upstairs, also fairly large. I contacted A-1 Carpet via email. Mohammed the owner contacted me within an hour. He came over and brought some capet samples so I didn't have to leave my house to pick the carpet out. It was a perfect match! Mohammed was very professional and a very nice man. He gave me a great price and got back to me about the time they could be here to do the job. The team of 2 men and a woman arrived to do the job. They were very nice and moved everything out of the rooms to be carpeted. They handled my furniture with extreme care. They did an amazing job!! I couldn't be happier! Then they put everything back exactly as they found it, even plugged the TV back up and lights! It's the little details that always impress me. I will for sure be calling Mohammed the next time I need carpet.

We were looking for a good looking flooring for our family room/kitchen. We have3 dogs and the back door entrance comes into the family room. We needed something goodlooking and durable. We were on a budget and looked at every possible combination of wood, carpet and laminate. With A-1's help we found a perfect vinyl that looks like wood flooring. A-1 came out and installed everything the vinyl in one day and the results were fantastic! The floor looks great, is easy to clean and stands up to the constant traffic. Thank you!

Our whole experience with Mohammed and his sub contractors was exemplary. Since we are preparing our home for sale, cost was a major factor. Mohammed was very willing to work with us and helped keep the project within a reasonable budget. The bathroom is quite large (450 sf of tile) and he helped us select the perfect tile - at a great price. When the guys began the demo, they discovered that our existing tile was set in a thick layer of mud (very unusual), which necessitated getting a jack hammer and a whole extra day of labor. Luckily, his sub has been laying tile for many years and he knew exactly what to do, including evening out a pitch in the floor. I don't think many installers would have known how to handle the situation. Mohammed was wonderful in accomodating the extra time and work involved. The entire bathroom was completed in less than a week and it looks beautiful. I would highly recommend Mohammed and A-1 Carpet and Tile to anyone who is planning a bathroom or other project requiring tile, natural stone, or carpet. He is fair, competent, reasonable priced and respectful of your time. We are very happy with our new bathroom and think it will be a major selling point when we put our house on the market.

Our kitchen floor was quite simply a mess. A few years back we had installed laminate flooring which got wet and was ruined. We had to take that up and it left the kitchen area floor much lower than the adjoining wood floors. The floor itself was also very unlevel. I spoke to Muhammed on the phone and explained the issues. He said no problem they could take care of it. I had had a few other contractors tell me it would be too difficult and they did not want to bother with it.I went to the A-1 showroom last Saturday and picked out a couple of patterns I liked. Muhammed let me bring them home to be sure I had the best match. He came by later that afternoon to take the measurements and to give me a price. We needed wood put down to bring the floor height up and I selected the top of the line vinyl. We also had to have all new moldings. I was very please with the price he quoted.He fortunately had an opening yesterday for the installation so in less than a week I have a beautiful new floor after living with the "mess" for well over a year. There were 3 people in the installation crew led by Jose. They were very prompt, polite and professional. They arrived and were ready to start work at exactly the indicated time. They leveled the floor before putting the wood layer down which I had not expected them to do. Everything was done perfectly. They worked throughout the day without stopping until they got the job finished. It took them a little longer than they anticipated because of some of the unusual issues but I couldn't be more pleased with the final product!

Owner was very hands on in the beginning of the transaction. I initially only wanted the carpet done, but also had him take measurements for the master bathroom and hallway bathroom upstairs. He had brought carpet samples with him and we chose which one we wanted then and he gave a quote. Due to the weight of the tiles we were required to come into the shop to pick out the style and color of grout that we wanted. Price was good so we added this to the work to be done. We scheduled a time and I explained to him that we were having the house painted and I wanted him to put in the tile after it was all done. I also needed it to be done as soon as possible because I was pregnant and wanted the house done before the baby came. The closest date was during the memorial day weekend, I thought this would be a problem but the owner assured me he would get it done. He requires 1/3 of the price upfront so that material can be ordered, this was expected and no problem. Due to the nature of the work the owner stated that the tile would be put in on Friday, grout would be laid on Saturday and the carpet would be put in on Monday. On Friday the owner showed up on time with his worker (one guy) and explained to him what needed to be done, made sure I agreed and left. The painters had went over the amount of time they estimated so they were still there. His worker was able to work around them both days and got all of the work done with in an hour or two each day. On Monday 3 people came to put in the carpet. They made sure to remove everything and finished in about 5 hours. They left extra carpet and also extra tile was left form the bathrooms. My only complaint is that my doors had to be cut at the bottom due to the height of the carpet. I was not given this information prior to the job being done. Other than this the job was near perfect. I also received a 20% discount on the total price. I would recommend this company to others...just make sure if you get thick carpet to ask about the doors.

I decided to use them because of their price and I looked at Angie's List for ratings and reviews on them. Everything turned out well and I will use them again in the future.

I had a water leak in the bathroom that came to my attention when it seeped thru to the ceiling in the living room below the master bathroom. The plumber came and determined that the floor around the toilet was damaged to the point where it needed to be replaced. I found A-1 Carpet and Tile here on Angies List. I called them because they received uniformly excellent review. I spoke with Mr. Talaki and he gave me a ballpark estimate. I went to his store after work to speak to him in person. He is very personable, professional, knowledgable, and didn't try to upsell me to a higher priced product or service. I was impressed by that. After his store closed that evening he came over to my house to measure the bathroom for an exact estimate. We agreed on the price (very close to the estimate) and I paid 25% down. We scheduled the work for a few days later--he had to order the tile. The next day Mr. Talaki called to say the tile color we selected was out-of-stock. He suggested another and I agreed to trust his judgement. At the appointed time the installer arrived and immediately set to work. Mr. Talaki arrived about a half-hour later to check in. The installer finished the work in about 6 hours and it looked Great. The color match works very well. The installer was a very nice young fellow, knew what he was doing, and did not leave a mess. Mr. Talaki called the next day to check that I was satisfied. I certainly am and will use A-1 Carpet and Tile again in the future.

My first impression was meeting Mohammed. He is the pinnacle of professionalism and courtesy. He understood my requirements from a price vs. value perspective for the master and refinishing the hardwood floors. Next he came to my house to measure and I hired him then and there. He is a delight work with. The first task was carpeting the master - what an incredible crew there. They were great - no marks on the baseboards, no messes in the house - just an amazing job. Then came the hardwood floors - they came out really nice so I can honestly recommend A1 for carpet and hardwood refinishing. We were so pleased that we asked Mohammed to put ceramic tile in our Laundry - just like the jobs before, the work was great! Okay, now we had such nice flooring on the first level, I call Mohammed to come look at my upstairs. He worked with me (as always) on price vs. value and we agreed on a carpet for up there. We just had our entire house repainted so I was very nervous about the freshly painted baseboards and walls. Silly me, there wasn't a mark anywhere. The crew took up the old carpet, put the new carpet and pad down and left my house immaculate! I cannot give A1 and Mohammed a high enough recommendation. He is a delight and his crews are all good and very responsive. What started out as a one room project became a whole house project simply because of Mohammed and great it was to deal with him and how professional his crews are.
