A friend recommended Jeff, who had installed a new porch railing for him. I needed him to replace my wood front steps, that were rotten and punky. I contacted Jeff by email and agreed to meet him on Monday at my house. He came, but I'd been unexpectedly called away. Nevertheless, I'd told him what I wanted, so when I got home late Monday night, I found an email with an estimate. I accepted his estimate, and he sent me an email on Tuesday saying he could come right away. He came on time and began work. As he worked, he found more rot than he'd expected - he had thought he could save the stringers and save me that money, but they were rotten. Because of the extra material needed for new stringers, and a small amount charged for a little extra work I requested, the final bill was higher than the estimate. I expected that from our discussions - and besides if you ask someone to do more than originally planned, naturally there is going to be a difference in charge. He was very pleasant, and did a grand job on the steps - routed all the edges so there is nothing sharp there, and sanded them, and gave them extra support. They feel like they'll last as long as the house does, and I'm very pleased.
Description of Work: I needed to replace the rotting front exterior steps.
