Called provider for an estimate. Provider gave an estimate based on the insurance paperwork. Provider seemed forthright. Provider maintained communication with me until job was completed, so that I was always aware of what was going on. Right before the job was completed, provider stated that they were short of materials, and that it would cost an additional (approx.) $900 to purchase and finish the job, and asked to review the insurance paperwork - I had previously verbally given the provider the information off of the insurance paperwork based on the provider's instructions. This time, the provider read the insurance paperwork themselves, and confirmed that they had not been given all of the information needed to complete the job. We gave permission to the provider to complete the job, and paid the additional $900 upon completion. I was in and out of town during this entire process - provider patiently dealt w/ and accommodated my absence. After completion of the work, but before the provider had been paid the final $900, someone stopped by and mentioned that the tubing that goes from the hot water heater in the attic through the roof to the outside was not in place and that it would cause a backup of carbon monoxide in the house which was potentially deadly. We mentioned this to the provider when they came to receive the final payment from us, and they said that they would send someone to fix it. We also asked about air conditioning repair, and they said that they knew someone who could do that, and would have them call us. We never heard from the provider again. I gave them a "Good" rating in all categories but "Quality" and "Responsiveness" because their estimates matched other estimates we received, their final price was no higher than what others paid for similar services, their work looked the same as others' work in the neighborhood, and we had no issues with punctuality or professionalism from their workers; however, I gave them a "Fair" rating in "Quality" and a "Bad" rating in "Responsiveness" because they failed to respond to what I was told could be a potentially deadly situation as a direct result of their workmanship, and it would seem that no quality control was done on their part to ensure that the job had been done completely and accurately. I did not attempt to contact provider again because I discovered that the hot water venting issue was an easy fix after climbing into the attic to check it out for myself.
