Michael's Work

I tried calling Mr. Husley on October 16th, 2013 however his phone number has been disconnected. I looked him up on the internet and he does not have a website that I could find. However, I did find that a "Michael" that does handyman work in the Saint Louis area who has been arrested and charged for scamming people for his services. This Michael has several aliases so it could be this guy! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DEAL!

My experience went well. The staff was professional and friendly and professional while visiting. The pricing was reasonable. However, I did not see much of a difference in the work afterwards and still have a lose gutter.

They worked with us until it was all done; even though it took several return trips for the proper parts. Pleasant folks. We then hired Michael's Work to paint our condo for us, and they did a great job at a reasonable price.

Bought the Big Deal, got immediate response from the company. Called 9/23/13 to set appointment for painting for 10/8/13 at 9:00 am. No one showed. At 9:30 am I attempted to contact the company and was told the number was incorrect. I had another phone number that he had called me on back on 9/23 and left a message. No return call.

Company told me they would be here 9am, the day before I moved all "stuff" from area where they would be working . Swept and hose down area so it would be clean for their drop cloth. I had to get help to move some of the stuff which I did not like having to do. I was very upset. I am painting the area my self so I can get my stuff back. people in area are always asking me for recommendations for various work, knowing I live alone and have a lot of work done. I'll certainly tell them NEVER to hire this painter

I purchased an Angie's List big deal for Michael's work for some handy work almost two months ago. Michael did not immediately call me, so I called him. He called me back, but had no idea I had called him. He introduced himself and we set a tentative appointment. For the next week before the appointment, he called about three more times, introducing himself and asking if I was from the Angie's list big deal and asking if he had called me before. I was trying to be patient, as I assumed he had a big boost in business from the big deal. He missed our first appointment and we connected via phone. He told me he would call me when he was not on a job to make our next appointment. He never called. I became busy too and did not call him either. After about 3 weeks I called him back and we made another appointment. The appointment day came and went and he did not come, nor did he call. I had many things to do that day, but waited patiently for his arrival. I called him and left a message that he missed our appointment. One solid week later he still has not called me. I have had very good luck on Angie's List, but this has been an extreme disappointment.

If I could give Michael's Work an A+, I would. Michael and his crew have spent three days at my house and we are having them back today to finish our job. Michael is conscientious, honest, and he has a great eye for detail. He is very careful about maintaining an honest account of their time, and since they have spent many hours here, this is most appreciated. They have all worked hard the entire time (so far 80+ hours). Michael and his crew are neat and good at cleaning up after themselves, but most importantly, when he says they'll show up, they do. I've had some bad experiences in the past, and it has been such a wonderful change to not have to worry about whether they'll be back to finish what they've started. I definitely plan to have them back in the future for everything from painting to general handyman-type services. Michael is a true professional, and I could not recommend him more highly.

I did talk to him several times to schedule hours of painting. First he agreed to it but then he said he may not be able to do it. He occassionally calls me but it is always by mistake. Every time we try to get the work scheduled he says he will call us back and he never does. He could at least call us and be honest about not being able to do the work on the scheduled date, but not responding is not right.

I have decided not to use them because they were unreliable. I had to get another firm to do the jobs.

Michaels Work did a good job. I started out thinking that the time I paid for in the Angie's Deal would get more done than was possible. Michael showed me where much of the soffit and fascia had had only one coat of paint and needed to have 2 coats to cover the color that was there and, more importantly, to protect the wood in the future. Since everything had to be painted twice, progress was not as fast as I had originally anticipated so I agreed to have Michael and 3 men come back the next day to complete all the work work that was originally on my list including all of the house above about 8' off the ground. I didn't have everything painted due to my budget. The 3 men he had working for him who were all friendly and willing to do the little extras that always come up during any project. They did a good job cleaning up afterwards. There were a couple of issues though. There are a number of places where the line between colors isn't as sharp as it could be. There are also a few areas where some small boards weren't painted at all and a spot where the fascia had only one coat. None of these issues are big but having told them how particular I was, I'm not really happy with their attention to detail in some places. The second day work started at about 11:00 and ended about 6:30-7:00. Michael told me they would be starting later than the previous day so the time frame wasn't a problem but it was difficult to see some of these problems when light was fading or I would have pointed them out. Michael was also in a hurry to have the men complete everything and leave. Considering the price I would probably hire them again. Last spring I had a bid from the "college painters" who wanted over $3,000 to paint the exterior.

I emailed Mike and he responded quickly. I was going to get another bid on some more painting. He was very helpful letting me know about the big deal painting. I might go with that. He was very helpful.

Michael and his colleague, Joe, were totally professional. We'd had to postpone the work due to weather (outside painting) and Michael contacted us several times to confirm dates and times (which we really appreciated). When they arrived, they introduced themselves and totally understood the work we needed done and were considerate of our new siding (my biggest worry). They brought thick drop cloths to protect the concrete patio - the work included painting our outside foundation, 3 walls, and the wrought iron bars over 5 basement windows. While painting the foundation they discovered 2 foundation cracks and offered to patch them for us. They also painted our inside basement entrance above the stairs going down to the basement (an awkward area). During the entire time they were working they were professional, thorough, reliable and responsible. They treated my home with care and consideration. I would highly recommend Michael's Work and would definitely use his company again when/if the need arises. I'm delighted with the work done and feel very proud of my clean and fancy looking house :)

Well. No work was performed. But got good advice. He told me the latch that would work best for it. I don't have the money yet t get it fixed

He has never showed up for any appointments we have made. He has missed numerous appointments over the last month. He has never called or let me know that he might miss the appointments. He even changed his phone number at one point and I had to get the new one.

After the scheduled arrival time came and went, I attempted to contact Michael's Work all morning via cell phone and email with no response. I had taken the day off to be at home during this work so this was a big inconvenience. I feel that the worker/owner's punctuality and responsiveness reflect on the work that is to be done. Therefore, I decided (after hearing nothing from Michael's Work all day) I would cancel the BIG DEAL through Angie's List. I got my money refunded thankfully.

After purchasing the Big Deal offer, I called and left a message but did not received a return call. After a week or so, I call a second time and this time got an answer. The service provider did not recall receiving my prior message. He said he did not have his calendar handy and so would call me back to schedule a time, but I never received a follow-up call. After another few days, I then called a third time and scheduled a day for service, upon which he never showed.

We bought 2 of the "big deals" back to back. 16 hours of work and two men spread out over 2 days. They did an excellent job stripping the wallpaper. No damage to the walls whatsoever. In the 8 hours they spent painting, they were able to apply the first coat (primer) but did not have time to get to the second coat. It went slower then I would have liked, but they were being very thorough, so that is the tradeoff. I would recommend if you want a specific area completely finished, it is probably better to get a quote directly from Michael rather than purchase the big deal, as you never know how much time it may take to finish the job you want done. Overall, we were happy. They were polite and hardworking.

First of all the 2 men that came were wonderful. I have nothing bad to say about them or their work. In the middle of the job the owner shows up and advises me that my time was up. It was at this time that he advised me that 4 hours of workmen's hours actually means 2 hours of labor from each man. Felt ad was misleading because the average person wouldn't know this. When making the appointment I had described the work I wanted done; which should have provided a time line for the contractor. I feel that was the time I should have been informed of the time required to complete the task and that it would cost extra Had to pay an additional $75 to get them to finish. I would like to give Michaels' Work the benefit of the doubt, and would really like to know who writes these ad's.

Excellent. They did extra work for us and they were very good.

I sent an email to the company explaining my situation and telling them it was an emergency. My grandson had locked my bathroom door closed (fortunately he was not in it). Michael called me and I explained the situation and the additional problem was that I was going out of town in a few days. Michael arranged to have 2 men arrive within 2 days. I showed them the problem and they went right to work and then asked "what else." I kept them busy the whole time they were here. I went to the hardware store twice to pick up needed supplies so they could keep working and not need the time for traveling to the store. Everything was done professionally and quickly. The men were polite and respectful.

They did a very thorough job. Pleased with results.

He prepared and picked out desired paint. We paid for paint separate. He painted nice and neat. Good job.

It went awesome. He always is on time and very fair with the price.

I contacted Mark from this service in regards to helping us with wood rot repair. I setup an appointment with him for Saturday August 3rd to come out and take a look at the work and give us an estimate. He did not show up at all, no phone calls, or anything to appear as though he was trying to reach us. I called him back and left a voicemail reminding him that we had the appointment and to please call me to reschedule, but have not heard a thing since. I would like to request a refund of the $99 for the 4 hours worth of service. If you could help me locate a contractor that would help us, it would be appreciated, otherwise we will look elsewhere.

I purchased the Big Deal completing the work I needed to have done, I received a call from Michael's advising that I wasn't ready and to call me back in a few days. As of today Sept 12,2013 I have not received a call.
