Michael's Work

The broken tiles were to be removed and replaced: they did 8, 3 have broken again due to the grout below was not fully removed and when the tiles were stepped on they broke the fireplace did not have a groove put in and the clean up of the excess was poor, but overall acceptable the drywall taping is fine but was slow to do the work and the job was not completed the tile install was a disaster, tiles were not installed correctly and not straight, some tiles fell off the side of the bathtub in the first 24 hours and all the tile had to be removed, backer board removed and the whole job done over. Needless to say this caused us quite a bit to re-do this. The only item completed was the fireplace hearth We paid for 7 days of labor, but the job was not completed. On the re-do the same job was complete in 3 days and for less cost. I called and talked to him twice. He promised to get back to me with a "fair resolution" I emailed him when I did not hear back from him. I received no response and no resolution to my problem. UPDATE: If the statement made by Michael's work is as below, it is not an accurate or true reflection. Also the final cutting of the tile to do the shower and the tub was not done until the 3rd day and so the first days this was not known....once they cut the tile and put it in on the 3rd day (this was taking way too long and my husband did address this as Michael states below, yes my husband was polite but did not say the work was good) it was all crooked. You can't just take one or two out...in addition the floor tiles upon inspection on the third day were found to be crooked and they did not line up the linen closet to the floor to the other floor. It was different workers on the third day that had no clue what they were doing. Michael came out and saw what we were talking about so to act like now he does not know if a joke. Also we did not know they used the wrong material under the floor tile until they started falling off and we had someone come out and look at it and they told us it was the wrong material and it all had to come out. So we did not know on the 2nd day they did that wrong. Once I found out I told Michael so he knew full well what I found out. I just feel he is not being honest at all and not interested in resolving the problem. As the professional they are responsible for doing the work correctly, it should not be me telling him how to do it right. The first days were prep work and until they did the installing the errors were not apparent. He need to be fair and acknowledge what was done wrong.

Went well overall. Did require two trips to complete the job and were some scheduling complications but once completed the job was done well.

I purchased a big deal from Angie's List. Michael was very courteous. He worked with me a lot. I was somewhat dissatisfied that they did not lay down drop cloths to protect the area and at sometimes I had to specifically request the use of drop cloths. I think he underestimated the job. We had not painted the walls in over 13 years and so they really soaked up the paint and I think he was kind of surprised by that. I can say, he was very courteous and flexible, and if I had a critic it would be that they should have been using drop cloths a lot more and I should not have had to ask. Beyond that, they worked quickly, they did a professional job and I think he would have done just about everything he could to make the customer happy. They charged me the amount that the coupon specified for the walls and then I bid him out for extra work in the rest of the house. I had him paint the basement, which we had not discussed before and I had him do some trim work, so it was significantly more work though. They were not as attentive to being clean as they were about quickly and efficiently getting the job done.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was wonderful! They sent 2 repair men out and they were total gentlemen. They showed up right on time. They were really nice guys. I am going to use them again. I signed up for the upholstery.

I had purchased a big deal from him. I scheduled two different appointments and he did not show up to either of them.

The job was to scrap and paint the lower back porch and if time permitted, the front porch. They didn't do much scraping of old paint, but maybe it wasn't necessary. They worked quickly and finished all of the lower back porch including two sets of steps and had time to do the front porch as well. The job looks good.

There was a problem with getting started because previous job was taking longer than expected. But contractor kept me informed of the delays. When workman arrived, I explained what work needed to be performed and the special concerns I had about the fascia cover installation. They got to work as soon as all the instructions were understood. The workmen were experienced and courteous while performing their work. The fascia cover installation went so well that I was able to have them remove my old gutters in the allotted time. They picked all waste and/or trash around the house from the fascia work and placed the old gutters in a pile behind my house.

The only reason I gave Mike a B for punctuality was that the original appointment was scheduled this past Monday, the 26th. Mike had put it as next Monday on his calendar but when I called him, he found the email with the scheduled date and apologized and scheduled for today. He and another worker (Jeff) were right on time today. They worked hard, were professional and efficient. I'd hire them again next time I have a project.

Everything went great. They worked very hard and all day. We will be using them again.

I sent Michael an email, within minutes he responded. Then we spoke by telephone. . .set up a date. On the day of the scheduled service the men were to arrive at my home at 3:00 p.m. Their previous job had lasted a little longer than planned. . .but Michael called me immediately to tell me they would be just a few minutes late. . . he then called me when they left the job and were on the way to my house. Michael wasn't with the guys, but I could tell they knew exactly what to do without much direction from me. . .all I knew was there were bad boards, I had the lumber Michael estimated I would need. . .beyond that I knew nothing. I had purchased four hours. . .two men worked two hours each, used whatever lumber I had, then cleaned up their mess. Good job!

Changed time a few times, causing me to rearrange my schedule. Cleaning was OK. Found some issues. Said he'd get back to me to repair one particular place. Called me a week later. Said he'd be there next day. Called next day and said he really had no idea how to do the repair, but he'd try. No way to estimate cost, he said. NO THANKS, I said. All in all, NOT very professional, and wouldn't use again, unless I only needed my gutters hosed out, which I could do in

they were to come last thursday, however they had car issues so we rescheduled for saturday @7am. they called approximately 6:45am to say they were running behind and would arrive @8:05am. they arrived @ approximately 8:30am. the main job i wanted done was an install of a bathroom vanity. however i didn't have all the plumbing items i thought i needed so they did the ceiling prep instead along with the other handyman items on my list. they are to return hopefully next week to do the vanity install and paint the ceiling. This is my first time using them. so i might have more to write @ a later date. they were pleasant and cleaned up after their work. I responded to an Angie's List special. with the issues of schedule and time i will give them a chance to do the additional work. hopefully when they return they will be on time and all will go well. Update 9/11/13: After they came back to install the vanity, water was leaking from the vanity, so I had to have him come back a second time. When I called back, I told him I wasn?t paying for anything because I had already paid. I asked him if he was bringing a certified plumber to fix the problem and he said he was. Later after it was supposed to be fixed, I found that it is still leaking water. I called them again and told them that I wanted a refund. He ignored this request and said he was going to check his schedule to see when they can come back. He never called back that day or at all. It has now been a week and I haven?t received another call.

Michael and his assistant arrived on time, after we re-scheduled due to a miscommunication by me about how high my gutters are - turns out my house is taller than I think it is. Michael was very personable without being pushy. He and his assistant cleaned the gutters and downspouts and then ran water through to check there wasn't a clog anywhere. They were thorough and efficient. Michael is a general handyman and gutter cleaner, and I am definitely going to use his services again.

They stopped work because of not having tools and the weather. They had no ladder for painting. They were late and never came back to finish work. Two men showed up for about an hour. I tried to call them multiple times and they never returned my calls. They finally called me back when I asked for my money back. They said they were supposed to come out last Saturday and no-call no-showed.

Called Mike Work Handyman Services on 12 or 13 August to set up an appointment. Stated he would arrive at 8am on 17 August. He did not show nor did he call. I waited all day. Did not show. I called the evening of the 17th and left a message stating how upset I was. Mr. Work called the morning of the 19th and said he'd be out at 11am and that he got the dates wrong even though the date of the 17th was given by him. I found it curious that he did not remember anything we had discussed, such as, how many stories my house was, what did I want him to do, etc, etc. I told him that I had a powerwasher but he stated that he would bring his own. Two young men arrived at 11:10am on the 19th. The did not have a powerwasher of their own so I suggested they use mine. My equipment did not work properly so one of the young men used my waterhose to powerwash the house. In as much as the roof, one of the young men had to use my ladder and went to the roof to inspect it. He found 3 roof tiles missing and I went and purchased them at the nearby Lowes Hardware. I was going to ask them to do some other work but was told they only had 15 minutes remaining. I thought I paid for 4 hours of handman work. They left my house at 12:22pm. I will never use this Handyman service again. I feel like I did not get what I paid for. He canceled twice,30 minutes before 1st appt., didn't show for 2nd appt. and didn't show for 3rd appt. After the he stopped taking or returning my calls. IF YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO WASTE, CALL HIM...IF NOT STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael called me three different times to get my address since he couldn't find it. They were supposed to be there at 9 am, got a call at 8:30 am saying the employee was having problems with car and might not make it. Sent two people out at about 2 pm, so it was 2 for 2 hours. The person doing the work wouldn't allow the second to help him, said he knew all about building gates. Built it too big, hinges wouldn't fit correctly. Was raining when they left, couldn't go out to check. The gate won't open and the latch doesn't latch correctly unless you pick the gate up and physically latch it. It needs to be taken off the hinges, sawed down and the hinges need to be replaced. The latch also needs to be repositioned in order to latch correctly. He left a screw (pointed end) sticking out of the side of the side at knee height which is a safety concern, when I brought this to his attention, he removed the screw and jammed it back in there at an angle so it wouldn't stick out. Didn't feel that was the appropriate way to fix the problem. He left another screw the same way and did not fix it. His partner was just standing there, I had him assemble bookshelves for me which came in a box, he did a good job. I think it would have gone better had the other man allowed him to help with the gate. I called him the next day to have him send someone out to fix it correctly, said he would send someone out at 1 pm the next day, no one came to fix the gate. Called him Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, left messages, and have not heard from him since. I was very pleased when Micheal came back and brought a new skilled carpenter. In the end the job was completed perfectly. The only reason I filed the report was because he was not responsive to my calls. I was afraid he was not going to come back at all, but he was responsive in the end and did a good job.

I found myself needing to have some exterior trim painted on our house in a very short window of time - before an upcoming open house. I reached out to Michael on Wednesday afternoon, knowing that it was a long shot that anyone could get us in within 48 hours. Not only did Michael schedule the work for the NEXT DAY, he gave me a great deal on the job and their work was excellent. I will absolutely use them again in the future - thanks so much Michael for helping me out when I was in a bind!

He did NOTHING as he did not show up for 3 different scheduled appointments! The first time, 30 minutes before scheduled appointment he called to reschedule. The second time I called him 30 minutes after the time he was to arrive and he gave me some nonsense that he had the wrong day written down. He than assured me he would have his men here today at 8am. Well big surprise, this morning he sent an e-mail after 8am, "We can be out today. Sorry fot the delay. We sre having car problems . I can call you as soon as it gets repaired here shortly." It is now 1:05 no sign of him nor will he return my calls. I am now trying to find out the process to obtain a refund. Unless you have plenty of time to WASTE, stay away!!!!!!

They were very fast and efficient but I do not think they did what the Big Deal said they would do. One thing they were suppose to do was run water down the spout. They did not bring their own water source nor used mine. They knocked on the door to let me know they were there. I expected them to knock on my door at the end to let me know about my roof. They were gone in 15 minutes but I know they did stuff because I saw the stuff from the gutter along my patio. I probably not recommend them or use them again. They should have at least reported to me as the customer what they found. If they had delivered what they said they would have then I would have thought it was a fair price. As soon as I purchased the deal they were calling me to set up the appointment.

As a single person, my list of household chores had grown rather large. I had a list ready when the workers arrived. Knowing my work would require a trip to the hardware store, I was apprehensive about them going to the store with my list and coming back in a timely manner. The two workers accessed what I needed done and the supplies I would need. I wondered if they would come back promptly, or use up my time at the hardware store. They returned in just a few minutes with a receipt for the supplies and got right to work. They completed my list in the order of importance I had given them. Everything on my list was fixed including fixing my kitchen lights, and moving all the furniture in the living room to rotate my area rug. Michaels Work was efficient, courteous, and I will definitely use them again.

I'm aware that he came to my house but was gone within 15-20 minutes when I went outside to check on the work (if any) There was evidence the gutters were not cleaned sufficiently (if done) and others - not at all.
