Mr. Rooter Plumbing of St. Charles

The plumber arrived on time. Several days before he arrived, I had already removed the toilet and cleaned the remaining old wax from the bottom of the toilet. I had also removed the old, rusted and falling apart metal portion of the old closet flange, and all of the old wax rings. A portion of the old closet flange, which appeared to me to be plastic remained glued to the 3 inch I.D. black ABS drain pipe. The plumber glued a new closet flange inside and on top of the remaining portion of the existing old closet flange. He screwed the new closet flange down to the subfloor in three places. The subfloor was rotted away where the fourth screw should have gone. It appeared that two of the screws into the subfloor tightened down, but the third screw could not be tightened very much due to the condition of the subfloor. I had purchased a new wax ring and bolts at Lowes, as I had hopes of replacing the wax ring myself, but due to the rusted away closet flange, I decided I needed expert help and call the plumber. The plumber's wax rings were cold from being in the truck, so we used the wax ring I had purchased which was at room temperature. Also, the bolts that hold the toilet down, that the plumber had, did not have threads that went all the way to the head of the bold. Therefore, he used the bolts that came with the wax ring I purchased, since the threads went all the way to the head of the bolt. He installed the new wax ring and bolts and then set the toilet. He tightened the bolts, but the toilet would rock from side to side. He placed wedge shims under the toilet and between the wedge shims and tightening the bolts got the toilet secure and not rock. I wonder that since he left a part of the old closet flange on the drain pipe, and then installed the new flange on top, that maybe the closet flange was sitting too high, therefore requiring the wedge shims under the toilet. The toilet has not leaked since he installed the new flange and wax ring. I guess I'm a little disappointed that I didn't receive a bit of a reduction in the $409.00 charge since I had already removed the toilet and old wax ring, cleaned up the toilet and the remaining portion of the old flange and provided the new wax ring and bolts. I have concern that due to the poor condition of the subfloor, and that wedge shims were required, that the toilet may start rocking and/or leaking in the future.

It took 4 visits to properly install a tank water heater. 1st time was installed dangerously wrong and not to local building codes. 2nd time it was installed facing backwards so that they could avoid doing the proper amount of work. 3rd time they didn’t come prepared (this actually occurred every time) to the point they had to come back a 4th time to finish the proper installation. During all of this, the tank was dented, my driveway now has a puddle of soldier embedded in it and the main water shut off valve was damaged. It took more than 3 weeks to replace a water heater! NEVER hire these amateurs!

My sink clogged and I tried everything on google. Finally at 9 pm I got on home advisor to find a pro. The company called me instantly (at 9pm) and came to my house at 8 am the next morning to fix my sink. Super quick turn around. It was a little expensive but I got exactly what I needed in a great time frame.

The plumbers were very pleasant, knowledgeable and competent. There were a few very minor issues, but I would hire this company again for my next plumbing needs. I thought that their quote for the job was more than reasonable and they did a few extra things they didn't have to do. They are 5 star in my book.

The service repairman was a great guy. The leak I had is fixed but now I have absolutely NO water pressure and my spray gun does not work at all. So I am going to have to hire another plumber to repair what the first one did. Not good business.

At first, it seemed, with a warranty and membership, spending $1,500 for a new hot water heater was acceptable. We had problems with keeping the pilot light lit on the old one. When all was finished, we were left with out hot water flow to our bath tub. After explaining to the Mr. Rooter employees that all of our faucets ran hot water before they put in a new water heater, they came to check the problem- almost a full week later. They took a look at the faucet and said they could not fix it. They said the cause of the hot flow loss was most likely a build up, from them turning the water off and on repeatedly. It had been almost a month with out hot water flow to what our family feels is the most important place for our hot water usage. There has been a strong lack of communication between us and Mr. Rooter. In between leaving messages on multiple phone numbers they provided, we have heard back from them twice in these four weeks. An employee had called to let us know that he was on vacation. The second was, the office to make an appointment, "just in case they had anything they could come up with", and it was a no call- no show. We are completely frustrated with spending all of our savings for this update to our home, to have circumstances worsen. We are still waiting for any contact from Mr. Rooter, for us to give them even more money to fix something that was NOT needed in the beginning.

The cost was high. If I had the time to shop around I would have looked into Home Depot and other stores and may have saved at least a third to half the cost. I didn't have time... and it did hit the pocket.

Great Company! They stand by their service every step of the way. My wife & I used them when our toilet broke and had them install a brand new one. About ten months later we had a leak issue and needed someone to come out right away. Called in the morning and Mr Rooter was able to find someone to service us right away. Austin came out and found that the toilet wasnt properly installed. since we had old cast iron pipes it was a difficult installation. They had to completely uninstall and reinstall the toilet. Replaced the flange on the pipe and were able to fix the flange to two pieces of wood. This fixed the leak issue. John the customer service rep came out as well to see if there was anything Mr Rooter could do since the toilet wasn't installed properly the first time. They were able to refund a portion of the toilet we purchased ten months ago and all the service to fix the leak was free of charge. Both Austin & John were professional and provided the best service. Thank you Mr Rooter. I will definitely use your service in the future!
