The owner Mike Johnson was prompt when he came over to survey what I needed done. He went to great lengths to accommodate my busy schedule and do the job on a weekend so I could be present when the work was done. On the day that the job was scheduled Mr. Johnson called me that morning to relay when the crew were to arrive. When the did arrive soon after they promptly got to work. Several were cutting, several were moving the cut trees and vines to the front for disposal. Others were raking up the smaller cuts into a tarp. They all worked together like a well oiled machine and were able to get the job done quickly. While all that was going on in the backyard, one guy was in the front using the large boom arm with jaws to pickup the trees and debris to load it into the back of the large truck. After they finished the backyard I was asked to walk around to see if the work was done to my satisfaction, which it was. They then move to cut down the large elm in the front, requiring one of the crew to climb up the tree cutting it down a little at a time until it was cut completely down and also completely disposed of into the back of the truck using the truck's jaws, their hands, rakes etc. Believe it or not this was all accomplished in a little over an hour. The whole crew was professional, quick and thorough. I would definitely use their services again. I would also recommend them to my friends and family. In fact one of my neighbors, who I did not really know, was so impressed that he pulled up in his car while I was still outside to ask me for the name of their company.

Choice Tree Service from the owner and workers are a class A company. Their professionalism is second to none. The price was very fair. They were very prompt and courteous. They exceeded our expectations. We were sold the moment we spoke with Mr Mike. Mr Mike has a very reassuring and experienced tone of voice, we hired him without ever meeting in person. We are very very satisfied customers. We have our back yard back.

Initially, communication with Mike was fast and easy. He came out to take a look and emailed me an estimate along with proof of insurance. The overall exchange was pleasant and professional. He seemed experienced, knowledgeable, and very down to earth. In fact I was so pleased with the way he handled everything, that I chose to accept Mike's bid over a couple other bids that were several hundred dollars cheaper. After accepting Mike's bid, there was miscommunication on when they would be out to do the work. Mike had informed me that he'd know by the end of the day when they would be able to come out, but I didn't hear back from him. The following morning I ended up with several missed calls and text messages. When I called him back he was pulling up to the house. Fortunately, things worked out this time, but that still could have been handled better. Mike did offer his apologies repeatedly though. Once they got started the tree was removed and loaded up in about 2 hours. Unfortunately, I later found several deep holes in the yard either from the tree limbs/trunk dropping or from the grapple machine. I understand when dealing with a heavy tree these things are bound to happen, but I don't think that it should have been left that way. The guy who grinds the stump is a sub-contractor that came out later that evening. This is one of the things that wasn't explained up front, which in my opinion, could have been handled better as well. The guy showed up, took care of the stump in less than an hour, and to my surprise he left a giant pile of mulch in place of the stump. The picture doesn't show it well, but it was probably a small truckload. It was also taken after I attempted to clean it up myself until I realized how big of a job it would be. Now, Mike's estimate did state that the stump would be ground down and the mulch would be left in a pile where the tree was. However, this did not paint a very clear picture of exactly how large the pile would be. My understanding was that it would simply fill in the hole where the stump was prior to grinding, with maybe a small heap since it wouldn't be compacted. For someone like me who has never had a tree removed, it was pretty shocking to say the least. I did speak to Mike about it that night and unfortunately, it was still left on me to dispose of. To be honest, this was disappointing given the fact that I feel as though I was pretty understanding about everything else. I feel that to the normal, non-tree professional, the expectation would be that a complete tree removal would include the disposal of the mulch from the stump. Even if that was an upfront optional add-on cost. Now I’ll have to figure out how to get rid of it. Overall they did a good job. If it wasn't for the miscommunication regarding the scheduling and the misunderstanding about the stump grinding, I would have no complaints.

Pleasantly surprised by turnaround. The morning after I called I received an in-person quote and the job was done same day! Never expected it to be done that fast. And minimal mess to boot. Would hire again in an instant.

Choice Tree did a great job. They did exactly what we needed. They cut the tree limbs that needed trimming. They pruned back branches; took down dead limbs, cut a couple of trees down that were infected or just weren't doing very well. They had a full crew and all of the equipment that was needed. They were very safe in how they did the job. It was very interesting watching them work, too. We had said that we wanted to keep a lot of the wood and they cut it down to easily moved sizes and put the wood in a couple of piles. They cleaned up everything. Our yard looked better than it did before they started work on it. We are very happy with what was done. Everyone was very professional. The boss would check to see if we needed anything else removed or if the workers had missed anything.

They swarmed in and took over. Only one problem in that one tree was pulled that we wanted to keep, but they told us that they would get us a new one to replant.

Mike is professional, kind, and he'll come out right away for a free estimate, and once you hire them for the job, they come out super quick to get it done. Their equipment is legit and their team of guys can take down a tree in minutes. They're safe and take care of your property, as well as cleanup the mess once they're done. Also, their prices are awesome! We've referred these guys to 3-4 people who have all used them and agree. You'd be crazy not to hire Choice Tree Service for your next trimming, tree removal or stump grinding.

The trees were gone the next morning and not a stick was left behind. He was very reasonable and fully insured. I would highly recommend his company.

Mike and crew did a great job. Communicated via phone and email very promptly. Very happy with the process as we didn't have a chance to meet in person and the job was completed in less than a week.

Flawless! On time, professional group of men. Removed 2 trees, and trimmed another. Cleaned the limbs up to the point you never knew they were there. One tree even had power lines to deal with. They removed limbs that hung over the house without issue. Our neighbor even hired them for a job after watching them do ours. Would highly recommend and would definitely call them again.

The team was professional, punctual and impressive. I don't think one twig was left in my lawn. I would highly recommend this team to others and will use them again in the future.

An estimate was provided in person on the day I requested one through Angie's List messaging, despite it being the weekend and miserable winter weather. I later called to request information about liability and workman's comp insurance (why isn't this provided as standard information along with the estimate by any tree service?) and received the policy information immediately. I authorized the work that morning and the trimming and removal were completed by the end of that work day, with all debris removed and the landscape left tidy. The stump was ground within 24-48 hours. We are pleased and impressed with the quality and promptness of the service. We would use this service again!

Had two other bids. Got two trees removed for the price of one. Nice guy, knows his stuff. Did what he said he would in on time.

It went very well. They had a crew of about six people that completed all the work and removed all the limbs and brush within an hour and a half. They had the equipment and the skill to do the job in a very professional manner. I was concerned that cutting down the branches hanging over the house would result in them crashing down and potentially damaging the roof, gutter, siding, windows, and/or shrubbery. However, they had one guy up in a bucket truck and another who climbed up into the tree, both of whom used a rigging system with ropes. The result was that after a section of branch was cut, it didn't fall. Instead it was guided, from the guys above and from other guys below, down to the ground in a controlled way with the ropes such that it didn't collide with anything that it shouldn't have. They used a similar method with cutting down the medium sized trees. They displayed good teamwork and coordination. It was not a job one person could have done alone, even with more time. Lack of effective coordination would have jeopardized both the quality of the job and their own safety. They did a good job of completing the work quickly and effectively and cleaned up the debris thoroughly.

Great job with a great price! Fast, friendly crew came and took my old, rotting silver maple out quickly and cleaned up my yard better than they found it! They were very careful with the 2 trees right next to it as well as my house. I highly recommend!

mikes crew fell upon the tree like a swarm of chainsaw wielding locust. they went straight to it as soon as they arrived, i figured it would take an hour at least to just cut down the tree...they took less than that to do all of the cutting! the clean up after the job was done was very good as well. i am very happy with the work that was done 10/10 would hire again.

They completed the job quickly, cleaned up the work area and stacked the wood I could use for my fireplace (removing all the other debris). The soil was moist and recently surface-thawed, and they did not mess up the yard. Don't know how they did that. A close friend recently had them remove quite a few Locust Trees and he recommended Mike. That recommendation was spot on for great price, excellent work and timeliness. I will recommend Mike and Choice Tree Service to all my friends and neighbors. I hope we don't need to remove any more trees, but if we do, I'd go back to Mike without hesitation.
