I hired Chris to do a large renovation project on a 1903 home, the project was worth $65k. The process was simply a nightmare and I would never hire him again nor recommend him to anyone. At first we liked him and thought he was nice guy but things turned ugly pretty quick. First, he quoted 2.5-3 months and it was over 5 months. Second, much of his work was half-a** and shabby. For example, the new roof had three leaks and not enough venting. The bank had to pressure him to fix a few of those things, and he admitted that he wouldn’t have come back out and fixed it otherwise. Third, he did not do everything he bided to do and my husband ended up doing a lot of it. Forth, he literally yelled at me three times over the course of the project. He said things to us like “I work for myself because I do not like deadlines”. He would do us “favors” but then get upset when we expected the project done the way we wanted instead of what was easiest for him. Because of the bank situation with this contract I was stuck with him throughout but if I had any choice I would have fired him. The only good thing I can say is that he has decent choices in sub-contractors.
Description of Work: This was a general contractor project; new roof, new HVAC, new bathroom, renovated electrical box, misc plumbing, couple of windows, and new sidewalks.

The contractor came over and sat down to get an idea the work entailed. He said he would be charging me $40/sq. foot. I explained to him how the insurance would do it and he was okay with it. I explained to him that the insurance would not pay for the rotten wood. He stated that he would do it for me and I would pay him. There were five squirrel holes that I wanted replaced and he said he would fix this. He never did fix this, and stated that he put metal there. I was the one to put the metal in. There were gaps betwen the fascia and the roof, and he never fixed these. The chimney work that he did now gathers water and was not done correctly. He overbid the material, and the insurance company paid for less. He ended up keeping the rest and would not refund me for the difference. I talked to him about the craftsmanship and he stated if I did not like it I could see him in court. He used very insulting references to my body when I asked him about his workmanship. I felt this was very insulting and very unprofessional. I would not use this company to do any work, and I would not recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: They were to come out and fix the room after the tornadoes came through.
