Dave had trouble showing up to work as soon as he cashed the deposit check. Many excuses given until finally we asked to return our deposit. He said some work was done but agreed to return money. Many excuses given for not returning the money until he stopped answering the phone. Dave will take your money and then not do the work. He will then blow you off and not return deposit. Dave also left debris and his broken down vehical on my yard for months. This appears all to be in the plan to upset the owner.

Originally, after I gave the 1st check - he texted a few days later and said his mother had a heart attack and was in the hospital. He seemed knowledgage about the job and had some good ideas on the project. I said that was fine. About 2 weeks later, he came back and started the job. He had someone with him to get started. He said he ordered the lumber and would be about 3 days to come in. He said the lumber quality was poor (cedar). He said it would be about 3 days to get the new lumber. I waited about 5 days, then called and it kept going to voicemail. I waited another 3 weeks. The last voicemail said, it was getting late in the fall and there was a safety hazard on the deck that really needed attention. He finally called me and said he had been in an auto accident. I asked why he didn't get in touch with me. I got upset. He finally agreed to give me my money back ($2000). It never happened. He said he was going to send a cashier's check. I said ok. He was just playing a game. He claimed he mailed the cashier's check in mid-November. He called asking if I got the check. I waited another 3-4 days or longer. It should've got here in 2 days. He claimed he went to the post office and talked to them. I asked via text if he got a certified receipt. He went to the bank and they said it can't be cancelled and had to wait 90 days. I called Commerce Bank, then went in and they said the same thing. He should've had a receipt made out to me with a signature of the bank on it. They said he should have a copy. He said, if he's legit; have him send the copy of the check receipt to you. After I waited about a week after talking to the bank, he texted (before Thanksgiving) and said we'll meet at the bank and I'll pay you. We were suppose to meet the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, I texted him and he never replied. I wouldn't question the health matters, but he should've called or texted to make arrangements to pay me back.
