They did a good job and the price was pretty decent. The driveway was about 16 feet wide and 30 or 40 feet long. They tore off the old asphalt and replaced it. It took a whole week, but they only worked for 2 days on it. There was a huge storm that started and that?s why they couldn?t do anything for a couple of days. So it wasn?t their fault. Their price was reasonable. The only weak point is that they graded it and ran down all the way down the driveway and put a concrete pad. If I knew that they would do it differently compared to what was there before, then I would have talked to them ahead of time, but I didn?t know. That was the only irritating thing for me, but that has got nothing to do with their quality or the job they did. They were responsive. They were doing two jobs together to keep their cost down. They said that it would take about 3 weeks and that?s how long it took before they started. They got the work done when it was possible for them. It was the right time to get the work done so that it could settle down. We now have 5 to 7 inches of snow. What they told me is exactly what happened. If need be, then I would use them again.

They were prompt and really professional. They weren?t the lowest, but their price was competitive and they did more than the other contractors had.

Everything went quite well from beginning to end. Mark was very professional and friendly. His quote was right on! The price was more than a quote I had gotten from another company, but after reading reviews about both companies thru Angie's List I decided to go with Asphalt Specialties. The whole crew was very easy and pleasant to work with. They respected my concerns about drainage and even suggested ideas.

We were really happy with their work. They did a good job and I would recommend them. I had 4 different estimates and theirs was the least but they weren?t the cheapest also. I liked the way the salesman explained the process and gave us the details.

The representative was punctual, knowledgeable, and professional throughout the bid process. In addition, he gave me an estimate on some concrete work when the topic came up in conversation. The process for the estimate from beginning to end was rather long. It took more than two hours as the estimate was followed up by a sales pitch including information and photos of previous work. The bid for both jobs ended up being significantly higher than the contractors that I eventually hired for the work.

Hired another company, but this was a close 2nd. Only gripe is that the estimate was maybe even too precise and the rep came into the house for a half hour to go over everything and run the calculations. I appreciate the quality of the quote and the whole sales pitch, but it was a little too much for me. And, the rep. was pretty critical of other quotes received without even knowing all the details on how the work would have been done. Nonetheless, I'm sure the work would have been great and the quote was fair; just picked another company.

Bob Fortier came out and told me we didn't need to sealcoat our driveway. He explained how patching works and why it wouldn't really accomplish anything, and that our drive was in good shape. I felt he was honest - not just trying to get the job no matter what. I am happy to save the $$ now and have him do the work needed later.

We had an estimate done in May and scheduled the work for mid-June for our convenience. The whole process (tear-out, basing, laying of asphalt and after-care) was carefully explained both verbally and in writing. We had to reschedule at the last minute because the city repaved our local streets and ACT were very accommodating. The work was started 2 weeks later on a Monday and because the base needed little extra work, the asphalt was laid two days later and it looks great! It was amazing to see everyone in action and how well they worked as a team. When they removed the basketball hoop, they broke up the concrete it was set in and used it to refill the hole. They then used sod removed from the edge of the driveway earlier to cover it, which we thought we would have to do. We had to dispose of the pole (as had been explained to us during the estimate) which we discovered was filled with concrete. All the workers were punctual, very professional and easy to work with and left the site in good condition.

We scheduled a time for an estimate but Mark had to reschedule due to severe thunderstorms. At the rescheduled meeting Mark gave us an estimate to replace the asphalt driveway.

Salesman gave us a rough design of patio/step but said we could decide the details when the concrete guys came. I expected them to be of more help w/the design but we agreed on a basic plan & then they went to work on Fri. I didn't like the way the step turned out (but it was what we had agreed to) & the "cracks" were too wide. Later in evening they called us to say it was not turning out right so they'd need to redo it & the office would call us on Mon. No one called by 10am on Monday so I called them.The concrete/rock hadn't set enough when they exposed it;they would have to excavate & replace on Wed.Spoke directly with the owner on Tues. to discuss my concerns about their work.He convinced me that it was a fluke & would turn out fine. Agreed to use a smaller cutter for the "cracks" & also make step larger so it's more symmetrical. Step & patio look quite nice now other than the smaller "crack" is still wider than expected. Saw cut offered but the smaller blade looked like it'd be OK

Was satisfied with previous driveway installation by this company, but less satisfied this time. This crew damaged the lawn with heavy equipment, although they attempted to repair it. They also damaged the driveway with the cement truck. They performed a temporary patch, and promised a permanent repair next spring. The edges of the walk were poorly finished, with a void at the end of the walk.

They did a great job. The quality of the work was impeccable and everything they committed to they did very well and delivered on a quality product as well. All this and it was backed with a 20 year guarantee.

I had four bids and they were the best price. I was very, very happy with them.

No work completed. Unsuccessful at getting someone out for an estimate.

Called for an estimate and several days later Mark Fishbeck, their customer rep. Came to give an estimate. His estimate was higher than others that I received, but the warranty was better. When the days came to have work done, the crew arrived early, and were ready to go. First they tore out the old driveway and then put in the base. After fill settled a date was set to lay the asphalt. Again, the crew arrived early and got right to work. They worked in a very professional manner, and did their best to make sure the job was done right. They made sure that the work area was clean before they left. There were a few minor things I found later that needed attention, which were taken care of within a week of my call. A couple months after I got my new driveway, my van had a gas leak which put a long divot of 6'' x 5 Ft in my new drive. I called asking if they could repair it at my expense, since obviously it was not their fault. They fixed it at no charge! I do recommend them highly.

They were on time and completed the work in a timely manner. The work was quite satisfactory. However, the contract originally included tearing out of old patio and preparing ground for new and larger patio. Crew were unable to complete this without significant additional cost due to misjudgement by estimator as to potential damage to neighbors' lawns. They would have needed to enter back yard thru rear street, requiring extra personnel, time, and labor, so we did not agree to this revision of contract.

I RECEIVED 3 BIDS. I WENT WITH ACT EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE THE HIGHEST BECAUSE OF THE WARRANTY OFFERED AND THE GUARANTEE THAT MY DRIVEWAY WOULD DRAIN. THE CREW MADE A MISTAKE IN THE FIRST GRADING ATTEMPT, BUT THE ASPHALT CREW CHIEF WAS UPFRONT AND GOT IT CORRECTED. THERE WERE SEVERAL PAVING DELAYS THAT WERE FRUSTRATING, BUT ALL OF THE EMPLOYEES WERE VERY FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND EFFICIENT ONCE ON SITE. SO FAR, THE DRIVEWAY LOOKS GREAT, AND IT DRAINS!

I CONTACTED ASPHALT SPECIALTIES\A.C.T. SPECIALTIES TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON TWO SMALL JOBS. MARK FISHBECK ARRIVED ON TIME TO MEET ME TO GO OVER THE WORK. AFTER DESCRIBING THE WORK, MARK SUGGESTED THAT I COULD COMPLETE ONE OF THE JOBS MYSELF AND HE WENT OVER THE STEPS THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE. ON THE SECOND JOB, MARK SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT ANOTHER COMPANY THAT COULD DO CONCRETE JACKING, RATHER THAN REPLACING THE SLAB. HE SAID THIS WOULD SAVE ME CONSIDERABLE MONEY. SINCE THEY DIDN'T ACTUALLY PERFORM ANY WORK FOR ME, I CAN NOT VOUCH FOR THAT, BUT I REALLY APPRECIATE IT WHEN A SERVICE PROVIDER GIVES ME LOWER COST ALTERNATIVES RATHER THAN TRYING TO SELL ME UNNECESSARY WORK. ADDITIONALLY MARK TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEMS AND THE STEPS I COULD TAKE CORRECT THEM AND PREVENT THEM IN THE FUTURE. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL, HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. I WILL USE THIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE FOR MY ASPHALT AND CONCRETE NEEDS.
