Description of Work: I chose them because they did such a great job on my garage aprons. THie time they widened my front entry and made the step landings deeper. This all went quite well but... | |They had a different finishing man this time and the concrete platform has broom marks in various directions, some roughness, and the fellow actually left 3 of his fingerprints just right of center of the top of the platform and close enough to the edge to be very obvious to guests.

Description of Work: Provider showed up at appointed time to give an estimate. But when I asked for an adjusted estimate based on a revised plan that used fewer materials the provider didn't respond. That has been over 8 months ago.

Description of Work: I had a new asphalt driveway installed along with concrete step overlays and new concrete borders. Joe from sales was very easy to work with and had some great ideas. One suggestion I would make would be to have a foreman check all work the day of service. Some of the small errors that occurred at my property may have been preventable had a foreman showed up to check the work. The workers were professional and timely, even entertaining at times (a good thing)! Homeowners, try to be present when the work is being performed and ask questions, don't just assume everyone working knows what you wanted.

Description of Work: Credit and Consultation Toward Any Asphalt or Concrete Project

Description of Work: Erik Peterson returned our initial call within 24 hours and then came out within the week to give us a quote. He seemed very knowledgeable and was able to work with us with a few complications we had in doing a long, shared driveway overlay, including widening and lengthening the driveway, and removing some of the driveway. We thought the quote seemed reasonable, based on other quotes. The team arrived the next week and completed the job in one day. Beautiful, impressive work. So happy that we had it done because it has improved the appearance of our home. The workers did a great job cleaning up, trimming the edges, and not damaging any of the plants or shrubs along the way. Our neighbors were thrilled with the work also.

Description of Work: They tore out a new asphalt driveway and replaced it with a new one. As such things go, I think the job was reasonably good. I was hoping it would look better but I think I might have had unrealistic expectations. There's still a little depression near the garage door in the same place that was depressed before they did the job. They came back out and said it was in spec given how much water puddled and how long it took to dry out. They offered to fill it in but of course that would leave a patch. I was hoping for something a little closer to perfection but if you look around at asphalt driveways you tend to see imperfection, so I think the job, compared to other asphalt jobs in the world, was fine. The driveway has been in place for a year now and in all major respects it looks and functions OK.

Description of Work: Excavate old asphalt driveway. Regrade and resurface with asphalt. Went as quickly as weather allowed - June was very rainy and work begun in May could not be completed until early July. Regrading and new surface fixed longstanding drainage problem.

Description of Work: On 5/1/2013 I received an estimate for $3755 from Asphalt Specialties Co. for a new asphalt driveway. They said the estimate is good this year until November. On 8/3/2013 I bought the Big Deal: $99 for $500 voucher toward a driveway paving project. When I contacted Asphalt Specialties Co. I was told they can't apply the Big Deal voucher toward the $3755 estimate because they already figured in a discount into the estimate they gave me? I am requesting a refund from Angie's List for the $108 I paid for the Big Deal I couldn't use. As a suggestion, please make it more clear in the Fine Print that Coupon cannot be used on any current estimates, versus just saying "Coupon cannot be used on current jobs or past jobs". Since I hadn't authorized the company to do any work - I had just gotten an estimate on the work - I didn't think the "current jobs" coupon exclusion applied. Another suggestion (this one is for Angie's List): Don't make your customers wait so long on the phone (10-15 min)to then be asked this same information and then be sent to a website to fill it all in anyway! The customer service person could've just processed my request right then - a much more customer friendly approach! Thank you

Description of Work: Provider was on time for the estimate on the small project. However he spent 20 minutes figuring out a 10'x 8' project (the smallest they would do) I was told it total price is an additional $1,300. with credit for the coupon! Yikes!!!!

Description of Work: We got three estimates. They were within 800 dollars of each other. This company was recommended on Angies list. They were totally professional, gave lots of written information about what was to happen and how to care for the driveway after it was done. After they staked out the driveway I asked for a slight change in the line at the end of the driveway and they adjusted it to my specifications no problem. They scheduled the work within an appropriate time frame and completed it as scheduled. The driveway looks great.

Description of Work: A representative from ACT came to the house to determine what repairs could be made on our aging asphalt driveway. He told me he could fix the worst section for $500, the value of the voucher that I had purchased for $200 through Trubates. An appointment was made to do the work. When that date came, a man named Ed showed up with no crew or equipment which indicated to me that he no intention of doing the work that day. After looking at the section needing repair, he refused to do it! He told me that the repair wouldn't last and that I would have to spend a minimum of $1850 for one load of asphalt and the crew to apply it. I told him we just wanted the repair done $500. He said that he'd rather give back the money I spent on the voucher than do the job. I felt like this was a scam: Give the customer an estimate for repair, then, when the job date comes, tell him it will cost 7 times more to do an adequate job. I did not hire this company.

Description of Work: We called and asked for an estimate on our driveway. Mark Fishbeck came out and after looking at our driveway told us it was in good condition and did not need any work at this time. He gave us some helpful info on how to take care of our driveway. Gave us his card and told us to check back with him in 1 or 2 years. We were impressed with his honesty and he has saved us more money with his recommendations!
