Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Minneapolis

Great. They have put in a total of 6 windows for me, and I really like them. They put in windows in the kitchen, the front living room and in the upstairs master bathroom.

Work was completed as expected. Windows have been great.

Everything was fixed in a timely manner

Practically every one has lost its seal and had to be replaced. All of the screens fit improperly, letting flies into my window area to pile up and die. They caulking job was absolutely obscene. It was so unprofessional it's just unbelievable. The last one they did wasn't sized properly, and they want to charge me $99 to drive out here to fix their own mistake. They left nails all over my driveway, one of the workers urinated on my siding during the winter. I had my windows professionally cleaned in the fall, but neither I nor the cleaners could get the tops down to clean them. I asked them for a printout of my account to see how many windows I'd had installed and how many had actually lost their seal, and after initially agreeing to do so, they have now refused. Two or three times they had to come and clean out the dirt between big two-paned picture windows. They company even admitted that they'd had a bad batch of windows during the '04 year when they were initially installed, but they have done nothing to make amends, I have been suffering ever since.

My wife and I signed a contract for new windows with Champion in mid September. Since then we are sincerely regretting our decision. The representative was kind, not high pressure and we felt comfortable moving ahead with him. We signed that day for the upstairs windows and then added the downstairs windows a few days later. Signing that contract was a big mistake. Note: Before signing the contract I asked the factory representative about the cancelation policy. He told us if we couldn't go through with the deal to call in and cancel the project, that it wouldn't be a problem. I felt it was important to ask since it's a huge expense and we needed to know what would happen is we just couldn't go through with it for any reason. About two weeks later they came to measure the windows. During the measuring process on Friday 10.2.15 we learned more about the windows we had signed up for and how they would be installed. We weren't convinced after learning more about the installation that we would be satisfied with the with product. Since install manager said he was going to order the windows the following Monday 10.5.15, we reached out to Champion both Saturday and Monday telling them of our decision to cancel the order. I emailed the factory rep and spoke with him on the phone relaying our decision, I also spoke with the office and finally the sales manager. That's when things went down hill. The office manager and sales manager told us canceling the contract was not an option and we're on the hook for the down payment (which I never made, they just hit the credit line I opened with them within a few days of signing the contract without notifying me.) When I emphasized I did not want to move forward in an way, the sales manger was clear with me there was no canceling the contract. Even though no windows had not been ordered and no work has taken place at our home we were beyond our 3 day right to rescind, we were on the hook for a down payment. When I mentioned referenced the conversation my wife and I had with the factory representative, the manager said the factory rep. could no longer recall that conversation. We should not have signed without reading more carefully this contract. In the bottom 2/3 portion of the front page it does state that we have three business days to cancel. We feel this would have been an important detail for the factory representative to cover especially since we asked about their cancelation policy. We also do not see anywhere on the contract the penalty for cancelation, or that we would have to forfeit a down payment before any materials were ordered or services had been provided. The contract also says that "verbal promises can cause misunderstandings, therefore this contract and the accompanying limited warranty constitutes the entire understanding of the parties." If we understand this correctly, no matter the details we discussed in person about the project, the contract is the final word. Unfortunately the contract has no specific detail in it about how the windows will be installed. We are reluctant to have them here at all since both the factory representative and the installation manager gave us specific details about the installation when they were on site, but the contract notes only the window style they would be installing and not a word about install procedures other than they would use standard practices. The relationship between Champion and my wife and I is damaged and we do not wish to move forward in any way with their services. We hope they will respect our decision and end the agreement.

The Factory Representative arrived on time. He spend the first 30+ minutes telling us about the Champion Window company, although I had already done my research BEFORE I requested a quote. He then showed us some tricks (a red light reflecting through the various levels of glass). He walked around the inside of our home and took some measurements but he wasn't interested in the outside at all, and we do have some outside molding that will need to be replaced. Then he calculated some numbers and we were given a RETAIL cost for their 'Better' windows of $21,875, then with Factory Discount of $17,517, and when we said that was high he reduced it to $13,138; essentially a 20% discount each time.... no itemization, no detail, simply numbers written on a piece of paper. I sent him an email to let him know that we were not interested in pursuing his company further and this is the response I received from him: "So do you want me to itemize the quote for you? I know that you understand that you have purchased these windows a number of times. However, you have simply paid the energy company the money and never received the new windows. Regards,: Apparently he not only doesn't believe I'm smart enough to know what I want and why, but he felt it was necessary to insult me as well. And for the record, we did find a company that we have contracted with and are completely happy with them! I will certainly be writing a great review for that company once we have our windows.

All of us love the sun room, including our teenage son who made it into his study whenever possible. Champion was wonderful. Always professional and polite. They kept us informed (issues with building permits) as to status, without us having to get in touch with them. They came back promptly to fix a couple of items. nrooms.

The salesperson was punctual and friendly. He seemed knowledgeable and eager to gain my business. Ultimately, his price was the best of four bids so I, in my head, decided to go with the company. However, when I said that I would make my decision on the following Monday, he tried to use a "hard" selling technique by saying his bid/deals were only valid until the end of the week. I called him on this. It was a very transparent tactic. In that moment, I almost decided to go with another company. On the day of the install, the crew was two hours late. They were supposed to arrive at 8am. Someone from Champion did call at 8:30am to inform me of the delay. I had to call back to get an updated ETA. The crew arrived at 10:05am. The two-man crew was courteous and polite and were easy to talk to. When I asked that they start with a particular window, they were very obliging. Both guys were respectful of my home and cleaned up behind themselves well. There were small bits of damage to paint on the trim around my windows but nothing worth complaining about. Sadly, one (new according to the foreman) worker cut through my kitchen wall from the outside of the house, breaking backsplash tiles and damaging the sheetrock. The crew foreman apologized repeatedly and offered me money out of his pocket so that I could make repairs. He noted that Champion would not do anything in terms of the invoice price. I do not know if that is true or not. I took pictures of the damage and will share them with Champion if anyone contacts me. In terms of the long-term quality of the craftsmanship and installation, I cannot say as I am writing this on the same day as the installation. I am writing this review...while having to repair my own kitchen wall. Overall, I would be hard-pressed to recommend Champion again. I have given an overall grade of a C because of the hard sell technique used by the salesperson and the damage done to my kitchen during the install. Some would consider these small issues. In my world, for any product or service that costs nearly $5000, I expect perfection. I didn't get it.

A painless process. Visiting Champion's showroom in New Hope was informative. Installation of 16 windows in South Minneapolis home was completed in two days, including lead abatement procedures. All personnel were prompt, friendly and courteous -- Alex in sales, Andy with the follow up critical measurements, and smiling, hard-working brothers Chad and Shane with installation. Andy made some much appreciated design suggestions.

When they came out to do the first install, they were late by 2+ hours each day so the supposed 2 day job ended up taking 3.5. Also, the removed the window from one of the upper bedrooms, then realized the new window was the wrong size, so they put up plywood over the window and we had to live with that for a month before the new window came. If that wasn't bad enough, during the city inspection, the inspector realized that one of the windows has a crack in it and the bathroom window isn't tempered glass, like we ordered (legally, it has to be tempered). We now have to wait another 3-6 weeks for replacement windows for each of these. The whole ordeal has ensured that I will never do business with this company again.

The job was a complete success! The crew were great and very professional. The project manager was extremely knowledgeable and was there every step of the job. The sales person was no pressure and really new the products. The project manager did a Very thorough final inspection and signed off when the job was perfect, which it was. Go to Champion if you want a first rate job.

It's beautiful. Can hardly wait to use it in spring.

The work from Champion Window Co of Minneapolis turned out great. We did not want a front door so we got one that was a little heavier so that it could do without the front door. I like the non pressure sales tactic that he had. We had to kind of like bug the guy to show us more expensive stuff, usually it is the opposite and when we made it clear that this is what we wanted and he showed us actually like what the benefits was in going with the other one. The hinges were a lot thicker. It was a very non pressure sales experience and we got just what we wanted. It had to be specially ordered and it came on time. Scheduling was not a problem. When the guy came there were 2 of them and they were very, very efficient. They were very polite and kind. They didn't make a mess and when they left I had a new door and there was no evidence that there had been anybody that was doing work an hour earlier. I liked that. I can't say much about comparing the cost because we only looked at other 2 companies and see what they had and we really weren't thrilled with what we saw. This was significant. I feel like we got a high end door that will last for another 40 years. I know how much these things cost. We have done a couple of renovations in different areas. We haven't done a front door but I just know that home stuff is outrageously expensive. When I compared it to the cost of what I saw in the other companies, and my parents visited me and they know, my mom's an interior designer in California and they know a lot of high end, they build high end houses and they thought that it was incredible. A beautiful door, for the value that we got I think the price was an 'A'. There was one guy, he was out on a call so it took me a while to get him to call me back, like a day. He got back to me and he apologized. He had gone out on some sort of an emergency job. He just hadn't taken his cell phone, maybe he couldn't. I would definitely consider using Champion again in the future.

They were on-time and fast.

The Good: Let me start by saying that the installers were fantastic! Punctual, Knowledgeable, Friendly, Professional, Helpful .... they kept everything as clean as possible & cleaned up after themselves. If it was not for the installers the grade would have been lower. The Bad: Numerous windows had scratches in the glass from the manufacturing process, Screens were installed in frames with broken latches,some screens came torn, almost all of the windows came with silicon on them that was dried & hard, ordered the doors with spring hinges & they did not come that way, was told the job would take 2 days but it took 3 so we had to take an extra day off work. We were told that a work order would be put in for the windows that were scratched to be replaced, the screens with broken latches would be fixed, & the screens that were torn would be replaced. Another work order would be put in for someone to come out & professionally clean the windows of all the dried on silicon. Gave them over a week to call & let us know when this would be taken care of & never heard from anyone. Called early today, explained what I wanted to know & was transferred to the person who could answer my questions. I had to leave a message since the person was not available at the time, with the reason I called, my name & phone number, still have not heard from anyone. Even a phone call saying that they were working on my problem would have been better than no phone call at all.

Champion was friendly, prompt, efficient and knowledgable. I sent a request to schedule a consultation and they contacted me the very next day. We had met with a few window replacement companies and hadn't found a product or person we would want to work with, until Champion came along and Ron provided everything we wanted to know, the product was the best we found, and the price was extremely reasonable. We were able to get a great deal and the financing we needed, we couldn't have dreamt up a better situation! We met with Ron 7/31/14 and our windows were installed on 9/17/14. The windows were custom made to fit our crazy sized windows. The installation was done in one day, by an extremely courteous and thorough installer. He found a tear in one screen as he installed it and ordered it to be replaced right away. He even made some repairs as he went, making sure the job was done right the first time. We will definitely be using Champion again to replace the rest of our windows.

Furthermore, the installation crew did a good job, acted courteously, and cleaned up after itself. They also checked for lead-based paint before removing the old window frames, and this was explained prior to the work being started so that we weren't surprised by the additional fee. Ultimately, it was a great experience, and we'd recommend their services.

The installer and the salesman were both on time and responsive, and they were courteous as well as professional. Furthermore, the installer worked hard to ensure the job was done well, and he cleaned up after himself. Really, the only issue I'm having is with a couple of slipped locks, but overall I'm happy with the experience and the doors. I also plan on using the company to update my window shutters in the future.

The work was done neatly, effectively, and quickly. Furthermore, the workers arrived on time, they made sure to cover the floor before starting the job, and the supervisor inspected the quality of the work several times during the project. They also responded quickly and satisfactorily to a caulking issue and an issue with relocating some television cable.

They did a extremly good job! We trusted those guys and it's had to find companys you can trust. They were professional and made my home look so nice. I'm very satisfied with the job they did. Excellent!

They didn't install vinyl wrapping around areas in the basement containing lead paint, and the workers weren't necessarily the friendliest when we brought this to their attention. Additionally, the estimator factored this service into the quote, but it wasn't included on the work order. However, things were much improved later on. Specifically, the workers became very helpful and did a good job with the installation. I would definitely recommend them to others.

I liked their price and their style of windows. They were able to match the style of the windows with the wood paneling in the room. When they called to tell me that the windows were ready, I let them know I was about to go on vacation, and they were very accommodating.

The windows were ready sooner than expected! Champion worked with my schedule to set up the 2 days that the installation of that number of windows would require. The installers were on-time, courteous, pleasant to work with and cleaned up their mess completely. They showed me how to open the windows for cleaning and how to remove the screens and sliders. The installers felt there was a problem with one of the slider sashes so I called Champion and they sent someone out to evaluate the situation. The installer returned and found that the window frame was 'distorted' a bit by the foam insulation when it expanded and caused the window to not seal properly. They easily and quickly corrected the problem. I love the fresh, updated look of my new windows!
