It went as well as it could have. I got immediate service from people who clearly enjoy their work. I needed a drive belt and a spool pin and they had both parts in stock without packaging in their well organized parts area. The parts cost $5.00 and $1.00 plus tax respectively. I never expected to be able to find a replacement spool pin and was planning to use a nail in a nearby shelf to replace it. I am thinking I might give them a different sewing machine for repair work and a third for a tuneup.

A quote was given at drop off. They found a bit more wrong after I left. They called me with a clear explanation and a price. Told me a date it would be ready for pick up. Everything was as they said it would be. Very honest, clear, up front and easy to deal with. I am very impressed with their service. It was worth the drive we had to make. I'd highly recommend them for Kirby Service or other vacuum.

Work completed very professionally. I strongly recommend them to anybody for the work. They know their work. Their pricing is very fair and work they perform is the best.

I dropped off my machine after 11 so that I could speak with the sewing machine repair man, Rick. He took a look at the carrying case and guessed correctly on the machine model. He looked at the machine went through all the things he could do to to bring the machine condition "like new". He stated the cost up front and told me that he could have it ready in about a week. When I picked up the machine (it was less than a week), the tension was fixed, he had oiled and lubed the machine and replaced the felt which sits under the thread and tightened the bobbin winding mechanism. Rick clearly loves what he does. What more could one want from a service provider? The sewing machine works just fine now.

I was greeted immediately, they looked at the problem immediately, fixed it immediately, and didn't charge me anything. In the future, I'll definitely use Johnston's for any service needs.

We had loss of suction in our central vac system. Our home warranty company had no one in their network to service the system and so, we were tasked with locating our own repair service provider. I found Johnston's on Angie'sList. I called on Monday morning and explained the situation, including the request of the home warranty company to speak with a service provider before any work was done. The repairs were completed Wednesday evening (he kindly worked around our work schedule). Jeff was courteous, professional and, knowledgeable. He replaced a section of pipe that was too short, restoring our loss of suction. I think it might actually be BETTER than before it broke! Jeff was more than happy to speak to our home warranty company, unfortunately, they kept him on hold for over an hour!! Thank you for your flexibility, courtesy, professionalism and dedication to getting the work done, Jeff!

I hadn't used my sewing machine in years and wanted to get it checked out and tuned up before passing it on to my daughter-in-law. We dropped it off at Johnston's and they had it ready 24 hours later, so VERY speedy service. They were very friendly and very knowledgeable about my Bernina sewing machine. My daughter-in-law has since used it to sew a number of things and it is working very well for her. I am very happy with their service and recommend them highly!

Jeff is amazing. He responded within minutes (six, to be exact) to my Angie's List message, and kept his shop open the next day so that I could bring my vacuum in. He instantly inspected it, figured out the problem (clogged air vent and filters due to the substandard post-market vacuum bags that I had bought; they warp with suction and allow all kind of crud to clog up the mechanism) and solved it. He was incredibly kind, friendly and efficient. The job took about 20 minutes and he charged a tiny amount, much less than I was prepared to pay for such great, professional and immediate service. I could not have asked for more!

Unfortunately, they weren't able to fix my old machine, as a non-replaceable part had broken. But they sold me a better-quality machine and applied the Angie's List service voucher price towards the price.

They fixed and tuned up my vacuum, which now works great. They called me after they took a look at it to confirm it just needed a thorough cleaning. They were very easy to work with and seemed very knowledgeable. And all for $20!

I contacted them looking for a used sewing machine. They had a few in store, but not exactly what I was looking for. He had more off-site, and after reviewing what I was looking for, he said he had a machine that met my needs. He brought it in the next day, did a full tune-up, and called me. When I tried it, it worked perfectly for my needs. It happened to be missing a foot, which I was fine with. He called me the next day to let me know that he found an extra one from a different machine and I could pick it up whenever I wanted! Very impressed with the service. UPDATE: I have gone back a few times for little things. Most recently, my husband needed unusual bobbins for his machine, which weren't even available online. They had a number of them in-stock and reasonably priced. As always, they were friendly and welcoming. Their passion for sewing machines is awesome!

Their sewing specialist was great to work with and encouraged me to have it looked at, as he told me I had a great sewing machine, even though I hesitated because of its age and not knowing the outcome. I trusted his judgement when he assured me that he thought he could get it running again. He never gave up on my machine which was very gummed up from years of sitting, which is something that these old time Viking machines were known for if not used on a regular basis. In the end, I was very happy with the results and the price!

I had a White sewing machine that had been in storage for awhile. I took it out and used it. I worked well but was stiff and slow. I called Johnston's and the woman gave me a price for the service. I brought it right over and they had it ready for me in less than a week. Very pleased with the work and the pleasant people there.

Jeff, the owner of Johnston Sales and Service came out to give us a quote. He was detail oriented, spent good time looking at the logistics of a retrofit trying to figure out the best design for the pipes to run. Finally he decided the best spot was in the upstairs laundry room and put the motor and canister unit in the garage. He is an authorized dealer for Canavac central vacuum. His quote was comparable and/or even lower than other bids we got and it included a ready-to-go rough-in for the basement for future use. He also spent good time answering all our questions to our satisfaction. My wife and I visited his store/showroom in Richfield to see the products he was talking about. Even in the store he was in no hurry and gave us a demo of the product, explained how it works and other accessories. As this was a Canavac DOC-IT system in an existing house, he put in the drywall and the electrical cost in his estimate. These were by subcontractors. On the day of install it was him and his wife, Kathy. Both are very hard working and very professional people. They had some issues getting the pipe through the laundry room wall into the garage attic and then into the garage. But Jeff used his flexible camera to see behind the wall and solved the issue. The installation went very well. They wore shoe covers and cleaned up thoroughly after the work. Both of them put the customers first. Very friendly people and made us comfortable and stress-free even though it was a major renovation with drywall and electrical work. After the work was done Jeff gave us a demo of how it works and again answered our questions patiently. Even the subcontractors (drywall and electrical) were very good and nice people. Jeff has a good team to work with. One thing deserves a special mention. During installation of the tube above the door, Jeff accidentally chipped a small piece of the door trim. He went out of his way to get his repaired. Jeff contacted our builder to place an order for new door trim with matching color. It took couple of weeks for the mill to get it ready. He then drove to their warehouse in Hugo, picked up the door trim and installed it himself. We were very impressed with his commitment. Couple of things that showed he valued customer service and satisfaction above and beyond everything - threw in a car garage kit and few accessories at no extra cost, insulated the tubing that ran in the garage to the canister. Overall we highly recommend this company for any vacuum cleaner needs.

I dropped off the machine and picked it up a week later (as promised) - the machine sounds better and performs very well - we are very happy with the results. The technician was polite, knew his business and made us feel at ease.

It went very well. They had mom's machine running like new and they found a new case for it at a very reasonable cost. I may go back to purchase a vacuum from them too.

Sadly, the costs of multiple parts made the diagnosis terminal. However, before Jeff called to tell me the bad news, he checked online and found me a new version of the same vacuum so as to give me a frame of reference as to whether it made sense to sink so much into the repairs of the old one. He also provided me with really valuable advice as to what models of Dyson were worth having (not many) and which ones to avoid. I very much respected his knowledge and appreciated that he took the time to share this info with me. I When I called back to let them know I had decided to replace rather than repair, not only did they offer to dispose of my old vacuum, but there was no charge for the estimate. What an excellent surprise!! Now that I will have a new vacuum, I don't anticipate needing repairs any time soon, but if and when, I will definitely come back to Johnston's. Will also sing their praises if the opportunity arises.
