I hired Burns Mechanical to do an install of central air in my home; he'd done a small job for me before and I was very happy with the outcome. We set a date about three weeks later due to the fact that I was on the road. We drove like mad to get back from New York in time for our appointment on Tuesday morning, the 28th of June. Burns did not show up, nor did he call. During the day I called several times to try to find out what was going on. There was no answer, no message, no nothing. It was also impossible to leave him a message; the outgoing message from his carrier said the mailbox was invalid. I was finally able to leave a message about 2 PM. Finally, about 7 PM he called, angry at me for calling more than once. He stated he thought the job was on Wednesday. My partner was with me when I last spoke to him and verified that I said Tuesday at least three times in the conversation. I told him that Wednesday would be fine. He said that he didn't want to work with someone who called more than once about something and that he'd already put too much into it for too little money (checking on systems that fit our environmental concerns, for one thing) and that he was done dealing with this. I have no idea what the problem was. I was nice, respectful and calm at every turn until the end of the final phone call when I did get angry, but he'd already pulled out of the job. Is it too much to expect these days that someone simply does what they say they'll do? We are now going into the hottest part of the summer and back at square one.
Description of Work: Burns Mechanical was a no show this morning. I called several times attempting to find out where he was. I was unable to leave a message until later in the afternoon do to some issue with his cellphone provider (it kept telling me the mailbox was invalid). When he finally called back he yelled at me for calling so much and now refuses to do the agreed work.
