Sawdon Fence

Lee showed up and gave us a quote, indicating that it would probably be 1.5 months until he would be able to get it done.  Around a month later he called and said they would be out hopefully the next Monday, and he and his crew were out working by 11am that Monday.  Nearly all of the posts were set that first day, and I think they were working for 3 days total.  Everything went smoothly and we were very happy with everything.  We've received numerous compliments on how nice the fence looks too!

He will be coming back in April to fix the panels. They were good on responsiveness, price was reasonable and they knew what they were doing. Everything that I have dealt with so far has been good.

The quality of the work was good, and the price seemed reasonable for the amount of work and time. However, communication with the owner was very frustrating and he seemed to me to be quite disorganized. For example: The first appointment was missed (he took the call while driving and didn't write it down, he said). The first set of measurements were lost (he said they were somewhere on his desk, but he couldn't locate them when I called after no word from him for 2-3 weeks). I initiated contact in March, was told the work would likely be completed by end of May, but it wasn't started until mid-July, although 2 weeks of that delay were due to my traveling in June. Throughout this time, I called him whenever there had been no communication for 2 to 3 weeks (e.g., when I had not received a proposal from him after his visit and measurements; when I had paid the deposit but had not heard back about scheduling; when the time that he had said he'd start the work had passed with no word from him.) He was good about returning calls, but not initiating them. So, would I recommend him to others? Maybe. The work was well-done, once it was finally started. They did clean up after themselves well (except for a couple of cigarette butts in a flowerbed). If you decide to use Sawdon Fence, be prepared to be very patient and to stay on top of it, calling the owner to make sure he hasn't forgotten you or lost your paperwork. Also, ask him to write the bid with as much detail as possible. In my case, he had forgotten about one section of fence to be repaired that we had discussed. (They did do it once reminded.) I went with Sawdon Fence because all the 2013 reviews on Angie's List were so positive, even praising the owner's promptness and responsiveness. I don't know why my experience was so different. Maybe it was a bad year for him.

Lee was great to work with. He got back with me right away and got my fence installed within my tight time frame. He also made suggestions that would save me money, that I hadn't thought of and would not have questioned. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

For getting no money, and coming quite a distance out of his way, I though he handled it very nicely.

The price was cheaper then the competitor for more fencing and added labor. They cleared out my fence row cut down some limbs that were in the way. They were true to their timeline and actually finished before their commitment date. I am very happy with the fence, but I did notice a couple spots by the ground that aren't quite reaching the ground and 1 post is a little shorter than the others. All in all, I would definately use them again.

Very prompt and professional service. Their estimate was much less than the other two I got estimates. They did an excellent job. They showed up at time and helped with the design as well.

Soon after I called for an estimate he came out and measured and I received a written estimate in the mail a few days later. I agreed to the work and it was scheduled for the following week. They installed the footings and posts the first day and built the fence the next day. They were timely and efficient and I am pleased with the result.

They were quick and professional. They cleaned up when they were done. They were excellent. The price was very reasonable.
