Denmark Heating & Cooling

We got quotes from three companies and went with Denmark for not only the lowest price, but their technicians/repair are very professional, honest and friendly. They installed our new system, explained what they did and how to use it. We are very happy with Denmark Heating and Cooling and will use them again whenever we have a need to.

We found someone else that we were equally satisfied with that provided the same service at a better cost.

Office called 10 minutes before appointment asking why we weren't there. I said we were on the way. She said tech knocked and no one was there. We got there on time he was nowhere to be found. We continued with home inspection and they called again about an hour and a half later saying we still weren't answering. We said no one had been there so she said she'd call tech and called back saying she confused addresses. He showed up 20 minutes later. I specifically asked to check the whole system and that there was a problem with the humidifier. He did his work and I paid him. He said he thought the solenoid was bad but didn't note a cost on the report. I called a few days later and they said they couldn't quote it because they didn't check it and would have to come back. They wouldn't even give a rough estimate, only that a new humidifier would be $450.

The furnace had to be cleaned again and they left a connector undone. They didn't send out someone for an estimate on ductwork as asked. The serviceman was very courteous and prompt. I don't remember the exact date of service only that it was before the snows hit.

They understood the problem and came and fixed it which the previous company didn’t seem to be able to.

They came out twice. While I suggested that it appeared to be a zone damper problem they never really investigated this. Instead they focused on sealing the insulation. The tape was actually being blown loose by all the pressure back-up due to a closed damper. I finally took the damper apart myself. It was closed. The set screw needed tightening. It appeared to be working, but while the motor would come on and the indicator screw would move the damper would not open. After I tightened the screw it worked fine. I called the company and was not able to talk to a manager or employer. I left a message but never was given a response.

I have to say from the start to the end they were the best company to deal with. Before we even hired them I had lots of questions due to the home having radiant heat and us never having a boiler before. The manager (I forget her name) was awesome to work with. She answered all my questions in detail and responded to any question I had by email in so much detail that I was shocked. When we finally hired them for the job, I have to say the techs were very professional and I the cleanest job I have ever seen even though we have not had anything like this done before. When they came in the firs thing they did was break the boxes down to makesure that they would not be touching the tile. They laid boxes all the way to the heating room and didn't step past that. They removed everything, cleaned everything before installing. After install was done everything was spotless and debris was removed. I had some questions afterwards and I had a response within an hour. I called after a couple of weeks and had some issues with the thermostat, one of the techs on the job called me back asked what the problem was I explained and they said they would be out to replace it and to set up an appointment. Within 2 days they came out replaced the thermostat, tested it for about 45 minutes and made sure all was working and then left. I had another question afterwards due to a second thermostat that I wasn't sure they knew about. They did let me know that all should be fine but if there were any problems with that side of the house heating to let them know and they would come back out and that it was all covered with the warranty and the install. This company is awesome and I would recommend them to anybody who needs heating and cooling service!!

I had this company out twice and requested a different repairman the second visit because I didn't feel the first person had correctly diagnosed the problem. The home is only about 5 years old with top quality furnaces. It is well insulated and the duct work well insulated and taped. The first repairman diagnosed the problem as areas where more taping was needed and proceeded to tape areas where excessive hot air was escaping, which only caused other taped areas to separate and leak air. I pointed out that a lot more air escaped when zone 1 was operating and almost none with zone 2 and suggested something was wrong with zone 1's damper. He checked to see if the damper motors were working, which they were. Taping did not solve the problem. The second repairman felt it had more to do with the need to clean the filters. And we discovered the battery had died in zone 1's thermostat. Again he ignored my information about the force of the air escaping when zone 1 was on. The problem remained. Because of the taping I had failed to see the sheet metal screws that would allow me to take the dampers apart. But I found them, disassembled the dampers and found that the set screw from the damper motor to the damper blades for zone 1 had come lose. I tightened it and the problem was solved. It was a simple fix and pretty specifically what I had expected was wrong, but both repairmen had failed to adequately investigate the problem and had ignored my suggestions. When I called after the second man had been here to say the problem remained he offered to come for a third visit and bring industrial strength tape to seal the seams. When I called and asked for the owner the receptionist said she was the one that would take my complaint down. Because a number of weeks had gone by, I was not interested in a refund. But I was interested in the owner's response. Its been a few weeks and he did not return my call. So I thought it was worth writing this report. This is when I made the decision to subscribe to Angie's List for future needs. I have since used Angie's List for 2 other searches.

They have our commercial freezer working in excellent condition. In the previous 4 years we had 11 service calls from different companies that could not fix it. So i am very happy with Denmark. The last time they were out was no charge because the time before they installed a part that was defective.
