C&S TREE SERVICES

Gary from C & S Tree Service gave us an estimate to take care of an overgrowth of trees on our 2 acre property. He gave what he called a "winter rate" which is considerably less than in the busier time of spring and fall. He walked the property to explain what they would be removing and/or just trimming and why. Overall he was knowlegable, professional, and talked to our level of understanding. Gary gave us phone numbers so we could verify their gen. liablilty and workmans comp insurance. He also have us 2 numbers for recent jobs which we called. Both families spoke well of their work. During the estimate he marked the trees to be removed with one color and the trees to be trimmed with another so that, if he got the job, the crew would know what to do. But he was definitely on site throughout most of the job. In fact, even the owner was on the job site. They started a few days later than scheduled, but that was due to the weather and was clearly communicated. They cleaned up afterward and then walked the property with us to explain it all again. A very reasonable price for an outstanding job.

Kathleen came door to door stating they were in the area and were trimming neighbor's trees in the next few days. I had wanted some trimming so I showed her the trees. She drew a small layout and said it would be $300. When I signed her contract, she had written $350 (maybe this was an honest communication error, I don't know). Anyway, they came out later and put a ribbon on a couple of branches. I called the office when I could not reach Kathleen and spoke with Mark. We talked about my spruce trees and how they could be trimmed. He seemed knowledgeable and helpful. Kathleen really could not provide much helpful advise, and she seemed not to know more than I did about tree trimming. However, I never saw Mark, only Kathleen. After their first attempt at trimming the trees, I paid Kathleen and we set up another date to do more. I later called to say that I would like to be there when the job is done, as it was very hard to describe to Mark on the phone. We arranged a meeting on a Saturday. They did not come or call. When I called on Monday, they arranged a time range on Monday. However, they called to say it would be Tuesday. They did the same thing on Tuesday, but they did not come on Wednesday. I never heard from them again. Later I looked at what I had paid for tree trimming last year with another company and realized I paid way too much for the amount of work they did. Then, when asked, they never finished the job, nor did they follow through on the other work I'd asked them to do.
