I was very pleased with the final product and service that DL Gardner provided. They replaced the cement block under my front porch. Dennis took his time with the job and made sure things were done right. I would definitely consider hiring them for future work.

Dave did a great job. He was professional, responsive and even went above and beyond and installed a new light for me. The repairs look great and it's hard to even tell there was significant damage to the column after he did his magic. Would highly recommend Dave!

Dennis was quick to come out for the initial quote. When we were ready to go ahead with the repair, we were disappointed to find out he was scheduling 6 weeks out. He said he would try to get us in sooner and he kept his promise. Less than 2 weeks and he had it done for us. The work looks great and the cost was in line with the other quotes we received.

He worked continuously without taking breaks over 3+ days. Even worked under cover during a storm to get the job done on time. I would hire him again and would recommend him to others.

Right from the start, Dennis was a pleasure to work with. He returned my phone call right away, even though he wasn't able to come out to give me an estimate for a week or two. When he did visit my home, he explained exactly what needed to be done, and told me he could most likely reuse the bricks (I also had a small supply of extras just in case). The other contractors I had quote weren't sure they could do the work without purchasing all new bricks, which wouldn't match exactly and increased the cost quite a bit. He printed a quote from his truck that day! Dennis' price was the lowest one I got, and I normally don't use that as a guideline, but he impressed me the most with his knowledge and professional manner. The work was done in one day, and he was so careful working around my flowers that you can't even tell he was there. The work looks great and, because an awning has to be reinstalled in a couple of weeks, he even left instructions as to how this work should be done based on the new base he used behind the bricks. All in all, an A+ experience, and I highly recommend D. L. Gardner Construction.

We called a couple of masons for quotes for this work. Dennis came out the same day to inspect the door sill and left us a quote at that time. Another mason we called had us take photos and e-mail them to him as the basis of giving us a quote. We went with Dennis, as he had taken the time to see the site, and his quote was also slightly lower. Dennis was able to to do the work within a couple of days of us accepting the quote. He made sure to protect the work area with tarps and took the time to let us see the condition of the wood framing of the patio door after he had removed the old concrete sill, as we had been concerned about water damage from the old crumbling concrete sill. When he was done he cleared away all the debris. Dennis was very professional and personable throughout and it was a good experience all round. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Dennis came by in a timely manner when he was in the area. He gave an estimate and said he actually had time to do the job right away. His price was very reasonable and I liked his solution, so I told him to go ahead. He completed the entire job in a couple of hours and the wall looked brand new and blended well with the surrounding wall. Left the area clean and free of debris.

Dennis was the second mason to bid on the job. The first was recommended from outside Angie's List and his quote was quite a bit higher and included more tearout than was necessary for the wall repair. Dennis responded quickly and explained clearly what was necessary. He was totally low pressure and was able to give us a quote for all three jobs within half an hour. He worked around the extreme cold weather and started work as soon as the temperature allowed. He obtained all the permits and did everything possible to avoid interfering with the commercial units he was working over. This meant working outside of business hours as scaffolding obstructed entrances at one point. He left the worksite clean after each job. He was very pleasant and very professional.

Owner responded promptly. Left estimate describing entire project. Scheduled promptly and completed as planned.

It was a good experience from start to finish. Dennis came to give a quote in a very short time frame and printed the estimate on the spot from his truck. He was able to do the work within a reasonable time frame after I accepted the bid. He was punctual, tidy and completed the job in one day. I was also impressed that the bricks he brought to replace those he had to remove were a good match with my existing brick. I would definitely call him again.

I got the reference to D L GARDNER CONSTRUCTION from a colleague and also checked him out on this forum. Dennis was very responsive and punctual right from the beginning - returning my calls, coming out to provide an estimate etc. He also made an extra trip in person at my request to answer additional questions I had. He was also very upfront about the kind of work he could do and what was necessary, when I compared his quote with another one I had obtained. When I decided to go ahead and contract Dennis for the job, he indicated the time frame it might happen (based on his current work load) and that he will bring around brick samples for my approval before starting the job. As promised, he contacted me at the specified time and showed the brick samples. The work was completed over a couple of days. The clean up of the work site and any debris was thorough. My chimney looks as good as new - I cannot tell the difference between the old and new bricks. I am hoping that it will be the same after this coming winter too. It was a refreshing, heartening experience working with Dennis. His quote was a little higher than the other one, but there was a world of difference in the quality and level of service with Dennis. Additional note - I did not have to make a down payment for the job and the full amount was due upon completion.

Mr. Gardner returned my calls swiftly, gave me an estimate and performed the work sooner than he originally projected. He is a total professional and a gentleman. He showed up on time, worked continuously until the project was done and did an excellent job. He went the extra mile and did some mortar tuck points on the brick of my home where needed. I would definitely request his services again.

It went very smoothly. I called Mr. Gardner in the morning and he showed up in a couple of hours, on his way to another job, and inspected the problem. Within another 2 hours, he got the cover replaced. Very professional, easy to deal with. Very satisfied with this company.

The wash collar on my chimney has needed repair for a while. It had multiple cracks. A section of the limestone cap had also started to crumble. I wanted to have the repairs made before winter this year. I requested quotes from several companies. All the quotes were for the same amount for the same repairs. I decided to hire Mr. Gardner because he lived in my community. Mr. Gardner was able to perform the repairs several days earlier than expected. He did all the work himself. He was prompt and on time. The job was done in the time estimated. The job site was left clean with no damage to surrounding areas. Mr. Gardner thanked me for giving him the work.

I am confident no critters or bugs will get in now

Our 1950s house needed some tuck pointing (mortar replaced) around the foundation. Dennis did the work exactly when he said he would and did such a neat and professional job that, if didn't know anything had been done, I wouldn't know anything had been done. I was concerned that the new mortar would be bright and shiny and stick out like a sore thumb, but Dennis acid washed it and the new mortar matches the old beautifully. He left the area neat and tidy and took any trash there might have been with him.I wouldn't hesitate to call on him again or to recommend him to our friends.

Still looking for a contractor.

I did not use him. I initially had a hard time getting ahold of him because he changed phone services. He also informed me that he did not like to do work down in winddot, but if he was in the area the following week he would give me an estimate. He called me on Friday, but I was not here. He wrote out an estimate and put it in my breeze way. I did not think that was very professional and he never followed it up with a phone call. I do not think he wanted to do the work because of where it was. He quoted me almost double what others had.

Excellent work! Dennis was professional, timely, he listened well and he did some extra work that wasn't on the original quote and he didn't charge extra for it. He also gave us his professional opinion on a few other issues we had questions about. Very happy and would hire Dennis again!

No longer does concrete. Was very polite on the phone, but is currently providing brick work only.

Dennis did a great job of matching to the existing bricks. Once the work was finished I couldn't tell the difference between the existing brick and repair work. Dennis also did a great job of explaining what he was going to do before he did it, and then a nice summary afterwards. One other note - I had the original quote done late last fall. The weather turned and I asked him if he could come out the next spring. Sure enough, I was on the list early this month when the weather warmed.

Needed the job done quick. Fortunately for Dennis and I, we both use smart phones, so I was able to take a video and instant message it to him showing the major problem areas with our chimney. He was able to quote me over the phone, barring there was no other significant problems that he would see once showing up at the work site. I needed the job done quickly since we had renters moving in that week. Dennis was able to have the job finished 2 days after he quoted me. Perfect!! Chimney looks beautiful again and most importantly, there have been no reports of any leakage.
