Richards & Swift Roofing

My house is a 2400 square foot colonial. The roof was in good shape, but we wanted it torn off and replaced. I think they did a good job and we have not had a problem yet, but the contract said that we would have a warranty on the work and material, but I have yet to receive the warranty paper. I have called them several times, but they have yet to reply.

Workers were prompt, hard working, and kept mess to a minimum. We had a little problem with the shingles over the front porch and they promptly came back and fixed the problem after my husband telephoned the compant.

Richards Roofing's pricing was very competitive and fair. They did a great job. They did "what they said they woud do", "when they said they would do it", "for the firm price they quoted" and the work was performed in a very safe "and" professional manner. Jim Swift was excellent to deal with and his crew were solid guys; guys that you would have no problem with them being at your home. His crew executed the roofing work in a professional manner. After I received several bids from other area roofers, none of them could meet all the above requirements and some of the quotes I received were "much" higher for the very same materials and very same work, which indicated that the roofing contractor was providing their pricing with an excessive profit margin. Thats why I chose Richards Roofing. If you want an honest priced, and professional roofing job, I would reccomend that you contact Jim Swift at Richards Roofing.

We researched via Angies list and got three estimates. They were the cheapest by a wide margin but still with positive reviews. They were prompt when making an estimate and answered our questions. The roof work started on the day promised fairly early in the morning as stated. The quality of the work seems good and has held up nicely over the past couple months. The initial plan was for the roof to take one or maybe two days. It ended up getting finished on the third day. My only real complaint is that they did not clean up after each day ended. Shingles and material that were left on our front lawn ended up killing the grass in some spots. They did respond and said if it did not come back, they would pay our cost to have it reseeded. Most of it came back over time but I do appreciate their response. I would have preferred if they situation had been avoided in the first place by picking the debris off of the lawn in the evening.

Very professional in all aspects of the job. We are very pleased with Richard's Roofing and recommend them highly.

Jim was very good to deal with and the crew worked diligently but also seemed to be pleasant and cheery. All were professional. Cleanup was very good but about 6 long nails and other metal pieces were found in lawn and flower beds. I wouldn't have wanted to suck them up in new leafblower. This is to be expected I guess, overall we were extremely pleased with cost, professionalism, work performed and cleanup. Would highly recommend.

Richard's Roofing turned a negative experience into a positive.

From start to finish; it was superb. They arrived at 7:00 am and completed by 7:00 pm. They worked constantly and took a deserved lunch break. When they left at 7pm; everything was back to normal, cleaned up, and thank yous were given all around. They are a tight knit crew and work together knowing what was expected by all involved. Even the folks delivering the dumpster and the shingles were very professional. Grste job!

I called Richards Roofing and left a message requesting someone come out and give me a quote on gutters for my house. They did not return my call. Because of their rating on Angie's list I called again, the 2nd time they did return my call and Jim said he would be out Monday to quote me. I was home all day and never saw Jim, early in the evening I went to get my mail and their quote was in my mailbox. First why did he not knock on my door? Second he quoted me on Gutter Guards but what kind??? From the quote I got the other day there are 4 types of Gutter Guards to choose from and I got to choose the quality I wanted He couldn't take the time to knock on my door and speak to me? Clearly they are too busy and don't need my business. Needless to say I will go with the other higher rated and very professional company who quoted me.

They did a good job. I was satisfied with the work.

They were wonderful! The estimator knew exactly where my issue was just by viewing my roof as he approached my home. The team came on a Saturday morning, I didn't need to stay, and when I returned home they had cleaned up so thoroughly you wouldn't have even known they were there. They even matched the new shingles to my old, so my roof not only was repaired well but looks wonderful. I would highly recommend them!!

Excellent - on time and a first class performance for the entire job.

It went very well. They started at 7 AM and had the job completed by 6:30 PM. The roof looks great. My new roof is gauranteed for 25 years. A few notes: 1. Make sure your outside electric outlets work or somebody has to stay home to run the extension cords through the house. 2. Our scheduled day was moved back by one day due to rain. 3. I had a dumpster in my driveway for 3 days blocking access to my garage. This was not the fault of Richards Roofing. I called the dumpster company and they did not care about my inconvenience. So I cleaned out my garage and threw a bunch of extra trash in the dumpster. 4. Richards Roofing did a good job cleaning up. But I still found 3 nails in my driveway. Make sure to check your driveway carefully so you do not get a flat tire.

They were clean, covered everything there was to be covered, fixed any issues I had with the work. They also painted the patio and I had no problems with them.

Very well. Arrived at approx. 3:30pm Thursday and were completed by 5:30pm Friday.

Once Richards arrived he checked the roof and quickly found the damaged area and fixed it. It was determined the the gutter downspout was clogged causing a back flow of water strong enough to go under the shingles and causing the leak. Once that was cleared out that was fixed.

Work done on time, and cleanup was very good.

Overall, the job went very well. I recieved a thorough estimate within a couple of days of contacting company. Unfortunately, the project was done on 2-3 of the hottest days this summer, but the workers kept at it and did a great job. I felt sorry for them on the roof in that heat. Kudos to them!! Upon completion, I had to ask for some additional clean-up as I found staples, nails and shingle pieces on property. I also asked for some help with an unsightly edge where shingles butted to wood face. They promptly addressed issues. I would highly recommend.

Jim responded to my initial inquiry with a prompt quote for roofing & siding work. Jim only does the roofing himself and contracts out the siding work. After the siding contractor came to the site to see the job he disagreed with the quote that Jim had provided and tried to raise the costs by hundreds of dollars. We agreed on a higher cost and we chose a date to begin work. A few days before the start date Jim called and said the siding contractor did not want to do the job. No more of an explanation was given. I was left high & dry. Jim said this is the only siding contractor he works with, so he couldn't do the job, not even the roofing. Horrible way to do business. They seem like a disorganized mess.

He never showed up for the appointment. Didn't call and didn't answer his phone. Called Jim and setup an appointment. His only time was 1:00PM so had to take the afternoon off from work. He didn't show up. I called him three times and didn't answer his phone. He also has never called back. I would not recommend him if you want somebody reliable.

Great contractor. Exactly what he said he would do and great quality. Even asked about another project and told me the truth that he would not recommend due to previous roofing construction. Very trustworthy.

The workers arrived at my house at 8am with 4-6 trucks and thir work was completed by 6-7pm that night. The roof looks great and i also got new gutter that they did a great job putting those up. I was very happy with the clean up because there were needles everywhere but they went over the working area with a magnet and collected all the needles.

Job was completed fairly well but had to ask them to come back to finish clean-up and to install one vent they promised but did not put in. Recently asked them to come repair a few shingles that came off. It took a month for them to come and do the repair.

We had a really windy day and our chimney cap came off. I called and asked if they had somebody that could come and but it back on. He just came on his way home from another job, so by the time I got home he was already on the roof fixing it. He wasn't going to charge me at all but ended up charging me $20.00. He was so friendly and responsive!

Everything was done in a day and the yard was cleaner when they left then when they arrived!
