Attic Insulation & Ventilation Pro's

The owner, George Zentz, was punctual and very informative when he came to give me a quote. His installers were on time, professional, and cleaned up everything when they were done. I recently thought I heard dripping from the attic fan vent that they installed in the roof. George came out the next day, was very nice about it, and checked both the fan ductwork and the vent on the roof. The dripping noise was not due to any of the work they had done, but George determined the cause and was very courteous about it. I would definitely recommend him.

My house is a 1969 3-bedroom ranch with a great room. The existing insulation was 3.5 inch pink fiberglass batting with a lot of gaps (between walls, the area over the basement stairs, etc.) Estimated R-value was R-13. My roof had been completely rebuilt in 2010 so I had the appropriate number of vents and most of the baffles needed for airflow from the eaves to the upper vents were already in place. The installation area was approximately 1394 square feet. This company does cellulose blown-in insulation. There were two options: a) bring the R-value up to R-49 for $1360 or b) bring the R-value up to R-60 for $1670. I chose R-60. They added 14 inches of cellulose on top of the existing fiberglass batting. The job was done in an hour or two -- I can't quite remember. They used 88 bags of Energy Control II cellulose insulation. One person stood in the truck loading bags of stuff into the hopper and the other person was moving around the attic directing the spray of material. The job went very smoothly and since the access to the attic is in the ceiling of my garage, there was no disruption in the house at all. Mr. Zentz was very courteous and professional. I want to say this improvement made a very noticeable difference in my heating bills this winter. Much more than when I put in triple-pane windows. Much more than when I put in the 95% efficiency furnace. There was also a $175 rebate from Consumers Energy and a tax deduction but these things may or may not be available in the future. The insulation is now several inches over the top of the ceiling joists. If I ever have to go back up in the attic to crawl around for wiring or something, I'm not looking forward to finding my footing with all that fluffy stuff up there. But other than that, this was really an excellent home improvement that everyone with old insulation should consider.

After calling Attic Insulation & Ventilation Pros, George (the owner) came to our house, in person, the next day (a Saturday) to inspect our attic. Not only did he invite me to see everything for myself, he patiently explained all of the issues he identified, and delivered a fair, bottom line quote for the work he recommended. We hired George and his crew (all polite guys, his family members) and they were able to schedule the work in as soon as three days. Everything was completed in less than six hours total, and I was blown away by how thorough of a job they did. Even their clean-up exceeded my expectations. I honestly could not believe I was looking at the same attic after their work was complete. It is clear that these guys take pride in their work, and I would recommend Attic Insulation & Ventilation Pros to anyone needing insulation or ventilation work done in their attic. The owner George came out to do the estimate for us...very professional and invited me up into our attics to see how poorly they were insulated. He gave me a written quote for either R49 or R60 and listed a few other suggestions (we needed additional soffit vents and he also suggested a solar attic fan). There was no pressure whatsoever...I did my homework and decided to go to R60 and add both the additional soffit vents and the solar attic fan). We called to schedule and he was great about squeezing us in the following week (our schedule is crazy). George was one of the 2 installers that came out...they arrived at 7:45am and completed the job around 1pm. They were very clean and even helped us fill out the paperwork to receive the Consumers Energy rebate. We couldn't be happier with the results...the new insulation has really helped to regulate the temps throughout the different levels of our home. A big thanks to George...very highly recommended.

This house call was to evaluate the cause of a small area of black mold on the inside of the roof in the attic near three bathroom exhaust vents installed on the roof. In 2009, ATTIC INSULATION & VENTILATION PRO'S installed soffit vents, roof vents, and cellulose insulation to R-60 specifications. They did a wonderful job in December 2009. In early October when checking a smoke detector in the attic I noticed a small area of black mold on the inside roof near three bathroom exhaust vents that were installed 2009. I called the PRO's owner, George Zentz. He called me back right away. I explained the problem. He scheduled one of his crews to come out the next day to find the cause of the mold and repair it. I asked him to also install more soffit vents while his crew was here. His crew called ahead the next day telling me they were on their way. They arrive at the scheduled time. They went into the attic and make a diagnosis of the cause. Some exhaust was leaking at the vent pipe joint. They not only sealed the offending vent joint but they also sealed the other two vents nearby and stuffed more insulation on the top plate near the vents. The work crew, Jason & Justin, explained everything they were doing, were respectful, and cleaned-up afterwards. They did an amazing job. They were fast and efficient workers. I cannot express enough how nice it was to deal with George Zentz and his work crew. It was one of the best contractor experiences I have ever had. George stands by his work even after 5 years with no stalling or delay. I never had a contractor that was so honest and responsive. He only charged me for the new soffit vents. If you have attic insulation or vents you want installed you cannot find a better contractor to do the work.

I contacted Attic pros because a window repair company recommended that I have someone look at my attic when they were repairng a window up there. The temperature difference is almost always 20 degrees hotter upstairs - even with air conditioning and fans. George contacted me immediately to set up a time to assess the situation and give me a quote. His inspection of the attic was very thorough and he provided me with some options that might help. After George left I had 3 other companies provide estimates. George was the only person who actually went in my attic and his price was half the competition! Scheduling was easy and the crew showed up 10 minutes early. Like others have described they covered all the floors and furniture in the finished part of the attic space and went to work. They worked non-stop for 4 hours and then walked me through what they did and showed me that the baffles were in place and gave me some pointers to seal off the space more efficiently. When they left the area was cleaner than it was when they arrived - all of the extra insulation gone, dust and debris vacuumed up, and they even left me enough insulation and a roll of radiant barrier for when I put the built in dresser back into place. They sealed up the holes in the wall. I hired a trim carpenter to put the dresser back into wall and a drywall repair person to repair the drywall that had to be removed. We have only had 2 hot days since the work was completed, but on those days the temperature difference was minimal! If you live in a bungalow with a finished attic space that is too hot call Attic and Insulation Pros!

George came to my house to evaluate my attic ventilation and insulation. He was very professional. He thought foam insulation will be the best solution for my attic problem but unfortunately he does not do foam insulation. I am very grateful to his opinion and recommendation.

George has been to our house three times now and has been terrific each time. Very happy to have someone knowledgable and honest with attic and ventilation. Most recently he installed two solar attic fans for us to help the hot air circulate out of our attic in the summer months along with 7 additional soffit vents. The work was done to my satisfaction. George was prompt and did the job despite the below freezing temperatures that day. I thought he would call to reschedule but showed up on time and did a great job. I immediately noticed a difference with the temperature in the house and am now seeing lower heating bills.

Because of the freezing temperatures, the work dates had to be re-scheduled, which we understood. Jason and Justin came out on the next scheduled date exactly at 8am as promised, and they couldn't have been nicer and more professional. The opened all the soffits on our second level, replaced the soffit siding, added the proper baffles and blown-in insulation, and installed the attic ventilation fan. I also asked them to check the crawl space on my lower level, which they did, and they added the insulation. My wife and I feel so much better now that we had Attic Insulation and Ventilation Pro's do the work. The house is quieter, warmer and we would recommend George and his company to anyone.

Called four contractors and it came down to two comparing apples to apples. Both contractors were highly rated on Angie's List but Attic Pros came out on top. Not because of price Attic Pros was more but because how Attic Pros responded to the negative reviews on Angie's List. The other contractor did not respond to one negative review. I called the day before to confirm our appointment and to inquire what if anything I needed to do to prep for the work to be done. They told me nothing they would take care of everything and they did. They arrived on time and reviewed the scope of work with me and went right to work. I asked if they would take before and after pictures and they had no issues with it, even offered me a chance to inspect their work on completion. You would not even have known they were there if it wasn't for the new soffit and roof vents and the fact that our furnace does not run as often and as long as it use to.
