Paul gave us a bid on the rough plumbing for the house I'm general contracting, which we accepted a few months ago. When it came time to schedule him in to do the under slab plumbing crock and returns, it took me a just over a week to get ahold of him. When I spoke with him on the phone, he tried his best to say all the things that weren't included, despite them being on the bid specs I sent out as well as the returned bid I got from him. After sending him the official contract, he backed out of the job giving me five days to find a new plumber or mess up our primary builder's schedule. He claimed that the and quot;changesand quot; were too substantial. The only change was removing a tub and explicitly stating we'd want the water heater, which we would provide, installed. I consider myself lucky that I could tell he wasn't happy about his bid over the phone, so when I sent the contract, I explicitly said that if he wasn't going to do the job I needed to know right away. Paul's price may have been excellent, but considering it obviously wasn't realistic that doesn't count for much. Thankfully another plumber who bid on the job will be able to do so, and with no regret over his price. ETA: I called and emailed a full week before the holiday weekend and heard NOTHING in response. If you wanted time to review the changes/i.e. tub removal and discuss the contract you should've called me back the first time. This is not an and quot;unfortunate situationand quot;, it's you being better at responding to Angie's List reviews than your customers. (And lest anyone think this was some out-of-the-blue summons, I told Paul we accepted his bid months ago. We had emailed about the location of the sewage crock recently. I updated him a couple of times with when we expected we'd be ready for him and he knew we'd be starting soon.) When I finally did speak with you, I could tell you no longer wanted the job, and I wasn't about to risk throwing my builder's whole schedule if you didn't show up to do the under slab. Lo and behold, I was right - you didn't. While I'm thankful you responded to my and quot;tell me if you're going to quitand quot; email ASAP, I think I'm still understandably p***** that I needed to call someone else five days before I needed him instead of twelve. So no, you don't get to tell me *I* am the one who dropped the ball here.

This is an unfortunate situation where you have a homeowner taking the place of a general contractor. We bid a rough plumbing only estimate months ago but within days of the start of the project were told of changes to the print and duties needed to be addressed and given a contract to sign without being given time for a revised bid during a holiday weekend. I was notified by email that if I couldn't or wasn't interested in the job providing these changes that there is another contractor willing to take the job and to just let them know ASAP, which was done. So I'm a little confused on why the negative Angie's List report when I don't feel this is in any way an unfair decision being the time frame and the changes. Best regards on your new home build, sincerely Simmons Plumbing.

Overall - I am extremely pleased that my fingers landed on Simmons Plumbing in the phone book that day. Paul is very professional and also very kind. I would recommend him to anyone and will to my parents as I think they may be needing a new water heater soon. You will never go wrong calling Paul.
Description of Work: The first time I contacted Paul was a couple years ago when I was looking to have the space saving tankless wall mounted Bosch water heater my house came with repaired. I actually found him by letting my fingers do the walking thru the phone book looking for a plumber to repair this specific type of water heater. I left him a voice mail and he promptly returned my call and made an appointment to come look at the heater and told me how to get a part to repair it so it would be there when he arrive for the morning appointment. He showed up on time, after a couple hours of trying to get the heater repaired he noticed that it could not be simply repaired, it would either have to be replaced with a like unit or a standard tank water heater. He stated the tankless brands are very expensive and for my use and location would not be a good bet, he advised it would be better to replace it with the standard water heater. He stated he had one in his shop, would go and get it and put it in for me. It was more money than I was planning on spending that day, but once he got back with it he was at my house the majority of the day (despite having other appointments scheduled) putting in my new water heater. The 2nd time I called him was last fall because my pipes were backed up, he came and snaked out my main sewer line and even offered me preventative maitenance advice as I have a very large tree right behind my house. The 3rd time was yesterday as I had been having continuing issues with the pilot on my water heater going out. He came on time with the part he thought was the culprit, replaced it and only charged me a small amount to repair it. He stayed to make sure the issue was resolved, when he saw it wasn't, he started trouble shooting the problem, even taking the time to call the manufacturer of the pilot system. Once he resolved the issue, he stayed a bit longer to make sure that it was working properly and then advised prentative maitenance to keep it in top running condition (as it sits on my main floor in a laundry closet next to my stackable washer/dryer). Even thought he stayed longer, he did not charge me extra, which I thought was amazing.

We needed a drain put in for a washing machine as the previous owners of our home were simply dumping into the main floor drain. We also needed to replace the existing faucet connections because they had become rusty and corroded. Of the two companies that called us back during the busy 4th of July week, one wanted more than $700 to change out the faucets and install some PVC pipe and a backflow prevention valve. That price certainly "exceeded our expectations." The other service provider, Simmons Plumbing, quoted at roughly half the cost. We went with Simmons and were not disappointed. Paul came out on a Monday and did the work the following Tuesday. I'm no expert, but the piping feels sturdy and the overall appearance screams professional quality. More importantly, the drain and faucets work exactly as they're supposed to.

Paul is great! Worked extremely h****** a duplex with many problems. What turned into a minor hook up of a water line and testing, turned into so much more. On his first visit, Paul was only expected to be there for a couple of hours. A couple of hours turned into 8.5 hours due to the many leaks found with so many busted pipes and water lines missing. When one problem was fixed, another was found. He stayed extra late and made sure we had running water before leaving. He came back the following week to work on the 2nd unit and I trusted him enough that I gave him the keys to the house to enter and leave on his own while I went to work. He installed a bathroom sink, faucet, ran flex pipe up 20 feet, and made sure everything was working as it should. Paul is very knowledgeable about what is needed to pass inspections and went out of his way to make sure the property was up to code, even if previous plumbers had failed to do so. He gave a very fair price (bargain in my opinion) and will only use him for future use. My only complaint is that he is sometimes difficult to schedule with because so many people are wanting his help, but I can't fault him for that. Great plumber to use.

I wanted to get an estimate for work needed on my bathroom due to water damage. We agreed that he would come Monday morning at 10:00 to give me an estimate. I took the morning off from work since he doesn't work on Saturdays. He never called or showed up. This was very unprofessional.

Paul Simmons came out to give me an estimate the day after I first called him. His estimate was less than half that of other plumbers recommended on Angie's list. As far as I can tell, the estimated parts and labor were identical. However, his per-hour rate is obviously much less than that of the other companies, probably because Paul owns the company and does most if not all of the work himself. Simmons Plumbing was the lowest of 3 bids by far, but Paul seemed knowledgeable and detail-oriented, so I took a chance and hired him for the job. He set up the plumbing for the two sinks before the vanity was installed, and then returned after the vanity and countertop were installed to install the faucets and shower heads. Before the vanity and countertop were installed, I had ordered a new dishwasher from Sears. The Sears installation man was unequipped to move the vent line behind the old dishwasher (which we didn't know about until he removed it), so he simply put the old dishwasher back and told me to call a plumber. Based on my earlier experience, I thought of Paul. He fit the work in within a few days and charged me only slightly more (~$50) than the initial Sears installation fee (which was, of course, returned to me). Once the vanity and countertop were installed, Paul returned to install the faucets and one of the shower heads. He asked detailed questions about how I wanted things installed, and explained any issues which arose patiently. He took his time and was a perfectionist about how things looked when he was done. I would not hesitate to have additional plumbing work done by Paul or to recommend him to others.
Description of Work: - Converted the plumbing for an old one-sink vanity to plumbing for a two-sink vanity - installed a dishwasher (including moving an old vent line) - installed two lavatory faucets - Replaced a shower head

I've used them a couple of times and I was very happy. They did the work in February of this year. It was really good. I've had them do work before and the guy who owns the company usually comes. He's very affordable. He's on time. We also got a new water heater and they were very careful with not making a mess which was good.

The job had a few problems (the house is 80 years old). There were a few leaks in inconvenient places that Paul was able to take of easily. There was a problem at one point where the plumbing went from the basement to the second floor and then back to the basement to the washing machine. Paul stayed until about 10PM on a Friday night to make sure the problem was taken care of. Paul did the work as promised in the estimate and I think that he went above and beyond what I expected.
Description of Work: Paul tore out old plumbing (the house is 80 years old), including old cast iron fixtures and installed new lines and replaced some old worn out valves for a remodel.
