Description of Work: We had Matt come in and repair some ice dam damage to our front ceiling (demo drywall and then replace insulation and drywall). While working on that they discovered a major issue that had to be fixed with our roof, their prompt response to the issue and help in guiding the decision was extremely helpful. This new project added time to to the repair but Matt made it work with his other projects that were scheduled to start when our original repair was to finish. I highly recommend the Sodonis group.

Description of Work: Drywall repair to five areas. Matt was professional and a pleasure to have around. We tried to keep our kids out from under foot, and he was patient and agreeable when they did get interested in his work. Drywall looks great, and was left in paint-ready condition, as requested.

The process went a bit slower than I had hoped, but Matt was also dealing with the fact that the house was being painted at the same time and the fact that we added to the work as we discovered more wood rot ... and spending a bit more time to get a customized product that exactly meets your expectations is a fair tradeoff.
Description of Work: Installed new exterior window molding, customized to match old molding. Replaced rotted beams in pergola, including customized end pieces.

+ -1 moreThe project turned out great! Matt was prompt when he arrived to give us an estimate and we received an email with the estimate in a timely manner. The day the project was started, Matt unfortunately had some unexpected findings after opening up the wall. He immediately called my husband and they reviewed the possible options and came up with a solution. As the project progressed, he kept us updated every step of the way. He was very flexible and adapted to any changed we made in the project. He also made suggestions as to what he thought would look good and was patient as we were indecisive about certain aspects of the project. He is truly a perfectionist and takes pride in his work which shows in the final result. We plan to remodel a bathroom in the near future and plan to have Matt complete this project as well.
Description of Work: Matt created an approximately 8 ft x 5 ft opening in the wall between our kitchen and dining room in order to have a more open feel to the house.

We were hoping to have his services on a few additional projects but he was not available in the time frame we needed. If we do have any projects in the future we will definitely give him a call and highly recommend his services.

+ 0 moreHe said it had been started all wrong and wouldn't be able to do the job to his satisfaction. In a way, I understand, since you can't guarantee the quality of a job you hadn't planned yourself. So, from that, I would say he might have high integrity. Since then, I've worked with others and they have no problem saying they'll do a job and then do it poorly. I could use a little straight talk from a contractor just about now. I can't give him any higher than a B for just the reason I could only evaluate his integrity, but not his work. In other words, if the questions is "does he do good work?" couldn't say. If the question is "will he tell you the truth?" I'd say it's highly likely. Frankly, sometimes the truth is better since I'm not doing the Sistine Chapel.
Description of Work: Had asked him to come by to complete a bathroom remodel and some kitchen work. He came by to do an estimate.

+ -1 moreMatt came to our house to provide a quote - he seemed very professional. He brought a copy of his insurance and licence for our records which I thought was proactive. However, after a few email correspondence I never heard back from him. Last email was that he was still working on our proposal. We obviously went with someone else for the job seeing that a few months have gone by, but I was disapointed with the way everything panned out with the Sodonis Group.
Description of Work: We were tearing down a wall between our kitchen and family room, and also remodeling our fireplace.

+ 6 moreMatt did a great job on our family room. He met with us several times to get a clear idea of what we wanted done. Walls, brick & paneling were removed, replaced by new studs,drywall, doors & trim. All new electrical wiring, fixtures & outlets were installed along with 5 GFI's. A new stair railing was installed and stained to match a custom built fireplace. The hearth & surround were tiled and hardwood columns, skirt & mantle were custom built to match a picture from a designer brochure. The ceiling, walls and trim were all painted with two coats of paint. This was a large 25 x 25' room. The job took 6 weeks rather than 3 due to missing workers & unexpected extra work on the room. But Matt was on the job every day & kept his promise to stay until it was done to our satisfaction. He kept us updated & was easy to work with while problem solving. Bottom line is, everyone loves the room!

He pays attention to details, listens to your concerns and then was very professional with his opinion. We immediately felt comfortable and knew we could trust him to do a great job and it definitely was worth it ! They even cleaned up after they were done .. not just the basement but also the driveway were they had to saw. I can not say enough nice things about them or there work! It turned out Great : ) for a reasonable price compared to others & I feel we got top notch service! The walls look Great ! We will definitely hire Matt and his crew again and are keeping his card to refer him to others. Thanks again Matt !

+ 6 moreSodonis group was great. Matt came out for the estimate, and compared to the two other companies we tried, he really took the time to listen to our needs. He made sure we understood everything from start to finish (my wife and I don't know much about home improvements), and followed up with us a couple weeks after the completion to make sure we were satisfied. The finish product was exactly as we imagined it. My wife and I were so pleased, we had Matt and his carpenter over for dinner after our kitchen was complete. I have already recomeneded Sodonis group to a friend, and would absolutely use them again.

+ 2 moreOverall start to finish went great. Matt first came out and took a look at the basement and we talked about what we wanted. Later that night Matt emailed us a quote. Since we didn't know much about this kind of stuff we called to ask some questions and he sat and answered all our questions in a way we could actually understand. I had called around to a couple other people for quotes too but they acted like they were doing me a favor and the owner at Sodonis Group seemed much more knowledgable and personable and someone I felt comfortable having in my home. When work began Matt was professional, prompt, courteous and very neat and meticulous. The job took just under two weeks start to finish and we are so happy we had this done!
Description of Work: I was referred to Sodonis Group by a friend and did my research on Angie's list and Yelp. The reviews are all true they do an exceptional job! My basement had hold paneling and was completely outdated which was an eye sore as my home has an open concept with no door leading down to the basement. Matt removed all the old paneling and rickety 2x4s and put in new framing and drywall. The basement was also, electrical outlets, painted, pipes boxed out and carpet outsourced. It looks fantastic! It is now my husband's "man cave" and he is loving watching games down there in peace and quiet. Also, when Matt was finished, we were so impressed with his work we had him paint a couple bedrooms upstairs and fix a few odds and ends around the house. I would definitely recommend Sodonis Group. They do a fantastic job!

+ 8 moreMatt Sodonis gave us the most competitive quote of the three contractors we contacted for bids from Angie's list. he was also very honest with us about what was "do-able" and would work with our home. (We initially wanted to build a 1st floor powder room adjacent to the kitchen, but there really was no way to do this well - and Matt gave us his honest opinion on this.) Matt is a nice guy to work with, he was upfront and communicative about the job, progress, and change orders. We discussed our priorities, so Matt worked on those first (kitchen!). We changed our minds about the master bath/bedroom bookcase a few times and he was incredibly patient, helpful and creative with the solution. We are very pleased with his work and that of his crew, esp. John, his experienced carpenter. Matt also brought in subcontractors for specialized work, such as refinishing our wood floors. Matt managed the timing and process for these services. We are happy with the renovations and will definitely contract with Sodonis Group again when we have more work to be done (as there is always something...!)
Description of Work: We bought a foreclosure home in Royal Oak and needed to do extensive renovations. The home had been rented out to various people and had substandard modifications and installations. Matt and his team provided a variety of services including:Complete remodel of the kitchen, building and installation of IKEA cabinets, remediation of mold we found (surprise!) after the removal of the old cabinets (removal of old wall down to studs to get rid of mold, installation of new dry-wall). Sodonis Group also remodeled our master bathroom that had been initially converted from a bedroom on the cheap by the old owners. They constructed a closet, moved the plumbing and vent systems accordingly and installed a new sink and toilet. They also built a custom-made floor to ceiling bookcase in our bedroom. This made ugly or wasted space much more useful and beautiful. Sodonis Group did many other smaller jobs we had requested, such as interior paining, removal and replacement of exterior side door, reinforcing basement stairs, adding an additional step, refilling the insulation in the basement crawl space, correcting plumbing problems in both our bathrooms, re-tiling areas of the bath, and installing ceiling fans.
