How did it go? Not well. Fixed the leaky shower downstairs no problem. Only fixed 1 of three things with toilet downstairs, refused to fix other issue didn't bother to tell him about 3rd . Wanted to replace toilet instead. Wasn't ready to replace toilet at this time. Real problem was upstairs. Had a 32 x 32 metal stall shower that was rusted out and I just wanted it replaced with same only non metal. He replaced with a built in. Not what I wanted. In the course of cutting out the old shower he cut thru the wall to my bedroom and did not offer to do repairs. Because it was now a built-in instead of just a stall there was demolition. Not what I wanted because of dust. I have a 1940 house with a 1960's remodel upstairs after a fire that has not been tested for asbestos! He created such a cloud of dust that it set off the smoke detector. Now I have to clean the whole upstairs not to mention possibly my wife and I exposed to asbestos. And he charged more than he estimated because he had to cut the faucet stem. At one point just before he started I wanted to give him a heads up on my house about surprises. We have been here 14 years it's an old house and every project has surprises. I tried to explain that to him but he became belligerent and didn't want to hear it at one point saying "I am not going to get into a ******* match with you" . Locking back I should have fired him. I don't ever want him back in my house. I don't know if you have any satisfaction guarantee but in the least he should be removed from your list. Thank you Sincerely Bruce Geoffroy 235 South Main St Auburn ME 04210 207 783-3462 kriskringle60@live.com

I was not too pleased with the service. He gave me a price prior to completing the work, but he did not complete the work I was given the estimate for. My husband and I were not satisfied with the quality of the work. He repaired things to his specifications and not ours. I would not hire him again.
Description of Work: He was supposed to fix a drip in my bathtub, repair a pipe, and change a pump in my crawlspace to my husband's specifications.

It went horribly. He yanked so hard on one of the fixtures that he broke all the tiles around it. He never offered any type of compensation or discount or any offer to fix it. It is imported tile from several years ago so there is no way to replace it. The whole thing was really poor. He had just moved into the area so he is not well known. The price would have been reasonable if he hadn't broken the tiles.
Description of Work: I used Acadian Plumbing to change out bathroom fixtures.

Response from Acadian Plumbing
I have no record of ever doing any work for a person by the name of [Member Name]. If in fact I di do work for her the fact that tile came up when I removed a fixture is unfortunate. It is very common for tile to come up when a fixture has been in for many years. I always do my best to keep this from happening but it is a common although unfortunate aspect of the work. There is never any guarantee that when you start taking things apart that have been there for years, t that they will survive the process. Because I have no record of the work I can't comment on any remedies I may have offered her.

Dan showed up on time, answered all my calls promptly (given he is busy one-man shop) , and was consistently polite and cheerful. He was open to my ideas and free with his own, and we had a very successful, collaborative experience. A pleasure to deal with, good work, done in a timely fashion, and all at a very fair price. What more could anyone ask for? Oh, one more thing: a small leak appeared after a couple of days, which he cheerfully fixed a couple of days later, at no charge. My plumber is Dan Giroux- no more searching!
Description of Work: After suffering a flooded basement in June, we needed a significant upgrade to our basement water-extraction system! Dan came to visit and assess the situation. He said we needed to hard-plumb the existing sump pump to the exterior hose. I had a second pump, and I asked Dan to plumb that as well, and set it a little higher in the sump, so that in case the first pump failed, or the influx of water overwhelmed its capacity (which it did in June), the second pump would kick in. In addition, I asked Dan to install a third backup sump pump (driven by city water pressure) that will function even if the power is out.

I called a number of local plumbers to have the work performed. They either didn't return my calls, or they were not licensed to work with gas. Dan Giroux of Acadian Plumbing called back with 30 minutes, and told me he'd stop by in an hour and a half to look at the job. He did as promised, suggested a Rinnai tankless (Everyone I spoke to before or since said that this is by far the best product), and installed the entire system for $1300. (Dead River and Webber Energy quoted us $2400 for the identical installation). He was here the following day as he promised, and did a perfect job. The job took 7 hours to complete as it required some serious pipe relocation and other work. He has installed over a hundred of these systems. Furthermore, he called back in two days to make sure that everything was running as it should. This could not have been a more pleasant experience. He is totally professional, has 30 years of experience, and knows these heaters inside and out. He did the job for about 1/2 the price quoted by the big companies like Webber and Dead River. He is capable to tackling jobs that others are unable to perform, not only working with gas, but other tricky plumbing jobs as well. I'd use him again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Our existing propane hot water heater broke and needed to be replaced promptly. Dan disconnected the old, outdated system, and installed a complete Rinnai tankless propane hot water system the day after he was called.
