I am a new home owner. Someone decided to break into my house cut out all the copper piping and stole the air conditioner outside. I was without heat and water. I contacted J's under the advisement of a co-worker. I explained my situation, Chuck showed up, as promised later that evening. Now, I have to admit I was a little skeptical having had two other HVAC companies come out and immediately say $20k. Chuck gave me so many options to consider, keeping the base board heat or converting the system to central air/heat. My home already had duct work for the central air for the 1st and 2nd level but not the basement. He went into my attic, the basement, and took measurements all over, not like the other two who immediately stated update everything. Right on the spot he told me that he could save me a lot of money if I was willing to convert the system to central air and heat (oh, no I thought....). There were so many options thrown at me, I was not at all overwhelmed. He explained everything in laymen terms, not HVAC jargon. His most expensive option (-way lower than the previous two HVAC people) would have been to convert to gas central heat but would have required him to run gas lines and add more duct work (-adding heat to the basement). The cheapest was to go all electric, no new duct work and suggested a wall heater with thermostat in the basement since it is unfinished and I had no desire to finish it within the next 5-10 years; I accepted. Chuck said he could do the work that Saturday and that it would be done in a day. Not only did Chuck come out on time as promised, he finished before the time he estimated, he said the materials were cheaper than he had expected so he adjusted the price. I almost cried. He was a blessing. I recommend him, its a small mom & pop shop, he does great work. I called him back to ask if he could adjust it because it was working to well, my new home was nice and toasty with the thermostat at 65. He even put some kind of special silver tape on a cracked window I had in the basement and cleaned up behind the plumber that left his trash from the work he did. Thanks Chuck and thanks to you for reading this review.
