Perfect. They actually had the screens ready earlier than promised.

The sales person was very delightful. They also did a very good job. They were very prompt. There was someone who was supposed to remove bars from one of the windows. That person forgot to do that and they were able to deal with that. Normally, it is a requirement that they be taken off before they are started and it was not a problem. They were very good in price in comparison with the other bids that we got.

They did the work quickly and relatively inexpensively. It wasn't any trouble at all. They came when they said and did the work quickly and well. I had to pay $55 up front for the estimate. As it turned out they were able to do the work on the spot when they came for the estimate. I didn't like having to pay in advance for the estimate. I would definitely recommend them. They did a good job and they didn't charge a lot of money.

The gentleman who gave the estimate was very polite. However, I found the office person that took my call to a bit abrupt. Ultimately, I decided to take a different approach because I felt that the screens were not going to work.

Blaine made two insect screens for me. They finished the first job within a week (even though they said it might take two weeks) and the second job was done the same day! I was astounded. Carl and Paul are extremely hard workers - every time I have been there they have been swamped; they were very patient with me as I had a hard time explaining the precise type of screen I needed, even when I brought a sample. They are courteous and professional, and I am grateful to have such an excellent small business in my Silver Spring neighborhood. Thank you, Blaine, Carl and Paul.

Our home inspector noticed that the window sash on one of our double pane windows was broken and told us it was worth a repair. Blaine Window Repair Service came highly recommended by our realtor so I contacted them. They explained that their policy was to charge $65 for an estimate. If we chose to have service completed by Blaine, that would be applied to the cost of the project. There was a minimum one hour of labor charge - this part may or may not have been well explained to me. A very nice serviceman came to my house on the scheduled date at the appointed time. Very cheerful - he spent about 20 seconds with the window, said "yep, you need a new balance," checked out the other windows, took the part with him (which I didn't fully appreciate at the time) and said we should hear back from them in about a week with a proposal. He said he didn't think there would be "much to the repair" and said it would be an hour of labor, tops. The proposal came in the mail about 10 days later...for $217.70. This seemed EXTREMELY high to me to repair a single balance in a single window. There would be no need to excavate into the wall, replace the window, etc. A new window doesn't cost that much more! So I called Blaine and talked to a woman in their service department. She said the minimum charge for a single hour of labor is $145. The replacement balance, I guess, with their markup, made up the additional $80. This seemed entirely unreasonable to me, so I asked if the original part could be returned to me, and that I would not proceed with Blaine. At this point, her friendliness dissipated some, and she said that they "might" be able to get it back to me in the next day or two. She checked the schedule, agreed it could go out with a deliveryman the following day, and that was that. The job was completed by another independent handyman for a fraction of the cost - $50 total, including the replacement sash, purchased at Home Depot. Although no work was completed by Blaine, the process left a bad taste in my mouth. I cannot recommend their services.

First visit involved estimate to do repair and determination of parts needed for three windows. The parts had to be special ordered. When the service man arrived for his second visit and removed the first window, he discovered that the wood in the sill under the old crank mechanism was totally rotted. In spite of his diligent attempts, he couldn't install the new mechanism. Same for the second window. We didn't bother checking the third one. Repair of windows cannot be completed until I find someone to repair the sills. I paid for the parts and the first service call, but not for labor on the second visit, which I considered fair. Since Blaine is the only company I have found that does this kind of work on these windows, I will contact them once the repairs to the sills are complete.

The service person upon visiting my home quickly determined that I did not need the service I requested and referred me to the office for parts. I then secured the parts and completed repair myself. No charge except for the parts. I very much appreciated his professionalism and assistance and advice.

I explain the problem when I called and the serviceman had the part, which he promptly installed solving my problem.

The company responded quickly and professionally and warranted their work. We were pleased and have called on the company since for several small jobs.

Blaine Windows is the most widely known window repair company in the Silver Spring area. They do a good job but can be bit pricey depending on type of job. They replaced the broken glass in the double-hung window very professionally. You can be sure they will do a good job and are very prompt and reliable. I also got an estimate to replace one old double-hung window completely with a new one but the price was around $900 which was outside my budget.

I am not happy with this company...I feel like they robbed me.

They came out, gave me a quote, and did the work. They were fabulous. The took the window down, had a window cut to match exactly, they came back the same day and did an awesome job. It was a big job. I would use them again in a heart beat.

The work went great. They made several trips to the house. They measured wrong one time and they came back to redo it. They handled it very well, and we were very pleased with the work they did. I would use them in the future.

The gentleman was able to have the one window unstuck which I thought would be a major repair. He was able to do it in short-order at a low cost. The other window was repaired satisfactorily with a new part. My experience with them was very good.

It was a custom window and they had to have a custom window insert made and they had to do it quickly. Instead of a three week turnaround, they completed it in one week. They were very responsive.
