Quick and fantastic service. Very reliable and trustworthy.

They told me several things I needed to have done, ranked them by what was needed: for safety reasons ( brakes adjusted and wipers), new muffler ( before next emissions), new tires ( soon). Prices given were reasonable. I had the wipers replaced and brake work done at this visit. No pressure, answered all my questions. I have been taking cars to them for over 10 years and absolutely trust them.

Synopsis for the lazy reader: The customer feedback ratings on Preferred Automotive are excellent for good reason. I give them top marks on integrity, proficiency, value, and customer service experience. Take it from an ex-Army mechanic. You will not find better than these guys. Honesty: Top priority for me. My impression is that these guys are professionals with integrity who are genuinely trying to fix my car in the most affordable way possible. Really that says it all in my book. Proficiency/Timeliness: I got a strong sense these guys know their business well. After describing symptoms of a weird intermittent problem with my car, they had a good idea of possible causes before the diagnostic was done. They had my car fixed, tested, and ready to pick up the next morning. Good thing too because I needed my car back. Price/Value: The price for repairs was more than fair. Also thank you for the 50$ new customer discount. Customer Service: All employees with whom I dealt were friendly and courteous. Fun bunch of guys who seem to enjoy their work. Discovering this place turned out to be quite a blessing. Goes without saying I will highly recommend them to all friends and family needing auto repair.

Timely completed repair service with friendly staff.

Repair went smoothly and the car was ready for pick up ahead of schedule. The car has been working great ever since - 8 months ago.

They did excellent work at half the price that the Toyota dealer wanted to charge. This was our first visit and will definitely return for future work on our vehicles.

I highly recommend this shop for regular maintenance as well as a variety of repairs. They have overhauled a 10+ year old Jeep, found and repaired issues with brakes, turbo, and minor details in our Volvo. They are easy to communicate with, taking time to explain what's going on. We appreciate their candor, honesty and judgement. It's a relief not to have to second guess car repairs!

The owner's Gary and Mike McKee are wonderful, trustworthy, and honest. We were referred to this company by our autobody guy, Tony of Tony's Autobody (another honest, decent service provider). I love that they have a waiting area with wifi, donuts, and decent coffee (a Keurig). I also love that they really do their best to make things convenient for you either by taking you home (if you're reasonably nearby), Gary actually drove me back to my house in his family car once! Unfortunately, they're usually busy running the business end, so they have representatives who take care of the service issues. The representative who used to work with us was wonderful, and we had our cars serviced there for years, and we also referred our neighbor to them, Then there was one representative who just didn't work for us or our neighbor, so we stopped going. I really felt bad as we like Gary and Mike, and I also trust them and know that had I spoken up sooner. I did eventually let Gary know. It turned out that the representative we had difficulty with, didn't stay long. Our neighbor continued to go and mentioned that and that she was once again happy with them, so my husband decided to take his car in for an oil change. He was pleased with the way everything went. My only issue is that their prices while competitive with dealerships, and probably in the range of other high quality service providers in this specific area (I don't know for sure as they're the only ones I've used in this specific area) are on the higher side. Granted, they have a more convenient location as well, so if convenience counts over cost, then definitely worth it. Pros: great, honest, & trustworthy owners, friendly, respectful, convenience, patience, provide senior citizen discounts, coffee, donuts, wifi, helpful, good at explaining things, thorough, Cons: price seems a little high sometimes, but they offer specials which help some...

These guys are terrific. I called them with a bit of an emergency of my own making (I inadvertently activated the valet lock on the trunk- I didn't know that was a thing). They worked me in first thing the next morning, offered to drive me to work, and agreed to add the routine services and have it all done by EOD - around 4. So obviously I'm walking in as another airhead, given the trunk situation. They didn't take advantage of me. Better still was the first time I saw them, I had gone to them on a recommendation from a friend. They told me I needed something done urgently, I said I thought that had been done by the last shop, they went through the mess of records in my glove box, called me and said the last folks said they did it but there's no way they had. He apologized and said, I hate to tell you this but you were ripped off. He even told me I paid double for the tires at the last place that they charge. They even organized my glove box records. Ladies, in particular, I recommend them heartily.

Called early in the morning and Preferred Automotive willingly provided me with an appointment for that day for the time I requested. I was send timely and the service was performed efficiently and thoroughly. I was provided with a summary of what was done and the results. I would recommend Preferred Automotive without hesitation

It was great! I dropped the car off in the morning for the oil change and they called me around 11 am to say it was completed. Found a few liittle things to replace. I have been going to Preferred automotive exclusively for over 20 years and Gary and his crew have kept my cars on the road without any breakdowns. I have had them work on everything: tires, engine, alignment, oil change, wiper motor, battery, brakes, etc and always done right the first time. They even provided me with a rental car when the repair took longer than expected. I recommend them highly. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

Excellent. I have using Preferred Automotive for over 20 years for service on 4 cars over that period. They have always done extremely professional work. I recommend them without reservation. They understand my driving habits and my desire to keep my cars for a long time. On more than one occasion owners Gary or Mike have given me less-expensive options to solve a problem based on how I used a particular car.

I had family driving in from Michigan for a visit and about an hour out from Silver Spring their car started to overheat. A quick search for a reliable mechanic lead me to Preferred Auto. They were professional, friendly, quick and supportive. The bill was a hefty $1,000 that was not planned for in the trip budget and they were able to help out with a $50 off. The vehicle was dropped off at 4:00 PM on Wednesday and picked up on Friday. They called twice while it was in the shop to keep my family in the loop and update our status. Today (May 28) they called my family at home in Michigan to make sure they made it safe and to see if the van is doing well. This is above and beyond as far as I'm concerned and shows a quality shop with great people. I will send all my friends to Preferred Auto and you should too!

I came to Preferred Automotive Associates based on reviews on Angie's List because I had received two ridiculous estimates from both the Lexus dealership and Firestone. Both charged me to inspect the car: dealership ($110) and Firestone ($20). My estimates for repairs were $7,800 at the dealership and $5,600 at Firestone. Firestone read the recommendations from the dealership and simply agreed. I was searching for a third opinion because I felt the information provided by the dealership and Firestone was inaccurate. Once I came to Preferred Automotive, they greeted me cordially and explained everything to me. They explained why the other repair services recommendations were unnecessary and gave me solutions. They repaired everything for minimal costs. After contacting the dealership to discuss the discrepancies, it was discovered that the dealership was recommending things based on their desire for me to have Lexus parts, versus parts from other manufacturers. What was presented as dire was not. I would recommend this shop to anyone who has a vehicle. I am telling all of my friends about the excellent service I received. I am going back to have my tires replaced. They discussed my options, and are allowing me to get the best price I can for the tires from other tire distributors. I am having the tires shipped to them by a manufacturer of my choice- PRICELESS! For years, I have possessed many vehicles. I have never received any car repair service that I wanted to brag about. I got a call today, just to check on how the car was doing. I see why they have several "Angie's List" plaques on their wall. They have earned it. My husband and I are very pleased. This is the type of service that is customer focused and dedicated to quality at an affordable price. Thank you for featuring this company.

Preferred Automotive Services helped us decide whether to repair or replace our Ohio-tagged 1999 Honda CRV with 250,000 miles for tagging in Maryland and did so at a minimal cost. The salient point is that instead of racking up charges for repairs, the company first took the car to a certified Maryland inspection station to determine what was needed to get this Ohio tagged car into Maryland. In doing so, they helped us avoid repairs that would exceed the value of the car. They took our situation into consideration and acted on it in a professional manner. Take your car to them. An overall great experience with great service. Preferred Automotive confirmed that work recommended by dealership was unnecessary and offered some good alternatives. Timing belt replacement and other work was done. Saved 2500$ in comparison to work proposed by dealership. 10 minute walk from Twinbrook metro on the red line is also very convenient. As an unexpected bonus, I was taken by car to metro in the morning and my car was washed. Nice touch!

I recently purchased my mother-in-laws 1996 Honda Accord for my 17 year old daughter and took it to a local automotive shop to have it inspected. The local, unnamed, shop failed the car and listed numerous items which they claimed needed to be repaired before they could pass it for inspection. Anyway, to make a long story short, strongly suspecting that I was being taken advantage of, I decided to have the car reinspected by Preferred Automotive. I told the staff at Preferred Automotive the background story and left the car for the day to have it inspected. Within a couple of hours I was called and told that the car appeared almost new and had passed inspection. I am so grateful that the staff at Preferred Automotive was honest with me. They saved me over $1000 in unnecessary repairs!
