AG Floors

Estimate was slightly more than other places, but AG came highly recommended. We wanted to get the floors refinished before moving into the house but only had a week to do so between closing and the moving date, and AG worked with us to start the morning after closing. They expected to take 4 days to get all the work done but was able to do it within 3, giving the floors extra days to dry and be in better shape before we moved in - much appreciated! The quality looks great, and the guys were very accomodating in sanding & staining a small portion of the floor the first morning to let us choose the stain from home it looked on the actual floor, not paper samples. Our only issue with this company was punctuality - the estimate was done while the prior owner was still in the house, and the estimator showed up 30 min late, inconveniencing multiple parties. Again, on the day the work started, the installer showed up 90 minutes later than he was supposed to. But the quality of the work seems to have made up for the relative inconvenience.

Samual Angel came out and gave me an estimate right on sight. He showed up on time and gave me great advice. The workers were very polite, professional and efficient. They did top notch work. Project took 5 days - first day they sanded. Second day they stained the floors and then put one coating of polyurethane. Third and forth days they put on the 2nd and 3rd polyurethane coatings and installed the shoe molding (which they stained to match the floor finish). Originally they quoted me 2 coatings of polyurethane coating but I went with the third since the house is going to be rented (so more protection). Because the house was empty, we just gave a key to the workers so they would come and go when they needed. Although they were very neat - do expect a thorough coating of sand in your house (walls, etc). There really isn't a way around this. Also expect the smell of polyurethane to linger for several weeks. Samual Angel provided his cell phone and was very responsive to my questions and requests - love the fact that the owner is so hands on! I would highly recommend AG Floors!

They were FANTASTIC! AG floors did a great job of taping plastic around the area to prevent dust from getting all over the house and they performed the job for about $120 under the estimate (in the estimate they thought they would need to remove damaged sections of the hardwood to remove the stain but they were able to do this with the sanding machine so they gave me a discount). The stairs looked like they were a difficult job because they had to be done all by hand. The guys were there a long time and made sure everything was perfect. I would definitely use this company again.

Mr. Angel was on time for the estimate and gave it to me right away, while other companies took 2+ days to provide an estimate. The estimate was slightly lower than the other two I got. The AG crew arrived on time and promptly removed carpeting and did stain samples. They had the wrong polyurethane finish (semi-gloss) listed on the work order so it was changed back to the satin that I had ordered. The workmen determined that the rooms could all be done at once but it ended up the job took 5 days to totally complete so I was away from home longer than planned. For the most part, the floors look very nice and I'm pleased. However, there is one very visible place (about 1/2" x 12") where the filler doesn't match the floors at all and iit's very, very noticeble. When asked, they said it was because the stain was hard to match, but it seemed they were able to do so in other places. Before I left, we looked at the floors and the workman said it didn't look like any boards would need to be replaced. They later called to say that about 20 boards would need replacing. However, the one spot mentioned above where so much filler was needed wasn't replaced. (The workman said it would be too difficult to change the board for fear of damaging other boards.) The men slightly damaged the wall above the baseboard in one spot but I should be able to patch that. The floor is much shinier than I would have expected a satin glaze to be so I'm not certain if satin was used or if it was finished in semi-gloss. There was a change in crews after the first day because a crew member was ill so I wasn't sure if there was a miscommunication about glazes or if my expectation was wrong. I'd advise unplugging the TV equipment yourself so you'll know how to re-connect it since the workmen couldn't get the TV or DVD to work with Direct TV.

In the end, we are very pleased with the work. We dealt with Juan. They were very responsive from the first call ? came within a day to make a quote and scheduled the work within a few days. The crew was supposed to start Monday morning. Juan called the day before (Sunday) to let me know they could not come until the afternoon (by 1pm). I appreciated getting that call the day before rather than the morning of. The 2-man crew was a few hours late the first day, but extremely punctual on all other days. They were very professional, polite and helpful by making sure we were satisfied with the color of the stain. Unfortunately, we were initially disappointed to find some flaws (air bubbles) and rough patches in the finish after they were done. However, Juan came back out at our request and offered to remedy the situation by re-buffing and putting down another finish. So we commend them for standing by the quality of their work. The floor looks much better now. One more general note: for anyone with a gas heated dryer, the vapors from the finish will combine with the dryer heat to create a smell like kerosene, which gets in the laundry. This lasted for the first 4-5 days, even after we thought the house was aired out. Afterwards it was fine and re-washing took out the smell.

AG performed the work over two days, slightly less than they had estimated. The team stripped all of the old finish off, sanded the floors, and then stained them. On the second day, AG refinished the floors. The results look fabulous -- it looks like we have new floors, particularly on the stairs. AG even got inside the closets and into some hard to reach places. The team was punctual, and locked up as requested when they were finished. We were very satisfied with their work.

The workers did a fabulous job. They ended up having to do some extensive repair (50 boards) in the living room because previous owners had totally sanded through the boards in one section of the room. Because the repair was more extensive than we had anticipated, the company agreed to refinish the stair landings and associated closet off the landing for free. Because we weren't sure which stain to choose, the company was willing to paint stain samples on the floor and stop work for the day so I could go by after work to make a choice. Although this meant the job took an extra day, it was definitely worth it because we got the perfect color. The workers did a decent job of containing the sawdust to the areas in which they worked, so only the rooms with the hardwoods had to be washed from floor to ceiling. The repair work blends nicely with the original boards--the only difference is that their work fits tighter together than the original boards. No complaints here about better quality work! We did have minor damage (6-inch scratch) caused by the moving company, for which AG Floors wanted to charge $200 to repair. We decided this was too costly to make it worthwile.

Sam came out and gave us an estimate and they said they could be ready to come in and do the work as soon as a couple of days later. At the end of the week, two men came and ripped up the kitchen floor and laid hardwood. After the weekend, they did the rest of the work in the remainder of the house. It was a tough job that required a lot of trust since the entire process took about a week. I ended up just giving the men the keys so they could come in the house as they needed. They took care of everything well and while there was a little layer of saw dust on the walls, it really wasn't that bad. After the kitchen floor was laid (which took one day), the process went like this; day 1) rip up carpets and sand floors, day 2) stain the floors, day 3) one layer of polyurethane, day 4) second layer of polyurethane, day 5) third layer of polyurethane (just in the kitchen, per our request), day 6) dry. You have to be out of your house the entire time because the polyurethane fumes are toxic. It was a pain to make other arrangements for so long, but worth it in the long run. My only complaint is that Sam went out of the country the week that our work was being done and didn't tell me. I kept leaving him messages with questions and didn't receive any return calls. The men that came to the house ended up answering my questions but not before I got a little frustrated. Kudos to Sam for calling me after he returned and apologizing. Overall, I thought they did a fantastic job for a great price. If we need other flooring done, we'll call them again.

AG floors did a great job. They arrived one time, very professional and only took two days. My floors look great.

All went perfectly (except the first day when the crew was pretty late). Samuel and Juan are really nice, really responsive, and want to make sure that things go well. The floors look terrific!! There is a lot of dust but that goes with the territory. Just plan to spend the weekend cleaning, and by Monday, you'll be glad you took the plunge.

It went great. They were scheduled to perform the job over 4 days and it took 3. They were prompt and courteous. Mr. Angel called me during the process and followed up with instructions after he finished.

I thought they were very good. They were prompt, did a good job and did it all in one day which was surprising to me. I had a few companies give me estimate for the work but I didn't use one of them because their estimate was too high and the other one only did the regular hardwood and didn't finish it. It would have also taken them much longer so that is why I didn't use the others. I thought AG Floors price was reasonable. I would use them again, if needed.

They did the work in two days. They did a terrific job. They did a phenomenal job. We couldn't have been more pleased. The floors were old and yucky, and now they look like brand new floors! They were polite, kind, nice, and accommodating. The quality of work was fabulous. I was a miserable customer for them, and they handled it great. They came in and gave us a very clear estimate. They were the only people who supplied references. They had an FAQ on how to work with your floors afterwards. They had a printout on how to be ready for them to come and do the work. The price was the price that they stated. They showed up on time, which doesn't always happen. We ended up having to give them a house key so that they could get in and out, and we felt good about it.

They were awesome. They saved me a lot of money. The bedrooms were 150 square ft and 120 square feet respectively. The office was 70 square ft and the hallway was about 50 square ft. They also did a staircase and a 6 square feet landing. They also did a living room of $180 square ft. They also installed the shoe molding. They did it downstairs, but they didn?t do it upstairs because I had to remove all the baseboards upstairs. They asked me to call them back whenever I am done with it. They were so awesome that I felt that even if I called them back after two months, they?d come out. Their prices were really good. The guys that they sent out to do the work were probably the most professional contractors I?ve ever worked with. They were polite and did a great job. They were fast. They stayed a little longer than I wanted them to get the job done, though. They did the work in three days. They asked my permission for everything and informed me about everything that they did. I?ll definitely use them again.

Prior to the commencement of the work, we met with a representative of AG Floors at our home. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name but he was very nice. He informed us that we should probably do the hallways because, if not, the colors would not match. Thus, he would basically need to do two floors or approximately 3000 square feet of floor space. I thought, oh boy, now I know why their estimate was low. This had to be a "bait and switch" situation. So, we asked him the price. Wow, were we in for a shock. Not much more than the original estimate. We did not hesitate to proceed. After the work was completed, we could not have been happier. They did excellent work. The floors looked new but they also looked as if it had always been that way. The only thing that we were not prepared for, however, was the amount of dust that was left afterwards. We had to hire a cleaning company to come in and clean it up, particularly since we were having the inside of the house painted immediately after the floors were done. All in all, however, it was still a great experience. Even with the extra cost of the cleaning, the overall price for the job was still lower than other estimates that we received and they did a fantastic job!

Great. Mr. Angel came to our house and gave us an estimate for the work. We received 5 estimates from different contractors. The AG estimate was the highest. I was impressed by the positive feedback given to AG Flooring on Angie's List. I was also impressed that Mr. Angel said they would complete the work in 2 days. All the other contractors said it would take 3-4 days to complete. We have a busy household and time is money, so having the work completed in 2 days was worth a lot to us. I told Mr. Angel I wanted to go with his company but his estimate was the highest and could he come down any. Mr. Angel reduced the estimate by about 5% putting it in range with the next lowest bid. In dealing with Mr. Angel in person and on the phone he was always very courteous and professional. Mr. Angel was also willing to accommodate our special requests. We wanted the flooring in the house for about a week before installation. We wanted to give the flooring a chance to acclimate to our environment. Mr. Angel didn't feel this was necessary but willingly accommodated our request. They arrived on time and began working. There was a minor disagreement about whether the wood would be interleaved with the existing hardwood (in the hallway) or if dividers would be used. This was quickly resolved and AG accommodated our request to interleave with the existing flooring at no extra charge. The workers were very polite and professional. They removed the existing carpet and padding and hauled it away. They worked all day and completed the job in one day. We were thrilled. The wood looked great. It was professionally installed. Our walls were not marked up. The workers cleaned up after themselves, put the furniture back, they were even going to hook the TV cable back up before my husband stopped them and said we would do that ourselves. Wonderful experience. Easiest experience I've ever had with a home improvement contractor. They exceeded my expectations. Mr. Angel also called me the next day to ask if I was happy, if everything was okay.

The workmen were very professional and capable. They worked quickly and efficiently and did their best to minimize disruption. The floor looks better than we expected, and we are delighted with the service.

We had moved into a home that needed new floors in two rooms (including one reaching into the closet). Though the work was a little more than the estimate I was given (didn't figure in the closet), my real estate agent tells me that it was a great price for such quality work. While the young men who installed the floor didn't speak much English, they were very professional and polite. I would recommend them.

AG Floors was the most reasonably priced and the most flexible as we planned to be traveling while the work was done. They were very courteous and the floors look great. We interviewed 5 companies, several recommended by Angie's List, and AG had the best price and had good suggestions for how to take care of our floors, how long to leave our rugs off the floor, etc.

They were very prompt, responsive, and cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely recommend them to others. They take Amex, which is a nice perk. Their pricing is competitive.

We were very, very pleased with the work this company performed for us. Fast, efficient, and very good quality. We hired AG Floors after getting estimates from several other companies. The AG Floors estimate came in at a very good price and they had good ratings on Angie's list. They arrived as scheduled, put the new floor down and the first coat of varnish that same day and came back a day later to finish. The floor and the stain matched very well. At one point my wife and I thought perhaps a wider area should be replaced, and the AG Floors folks heard us out, brought in a supervisor, and advised us to go with their solution after explaining it in detail--and they were absolutely right. The fact that they listened to our amateur viewpoint, and respected us as customers even if we were idiots about floors, made what could have been a stressful situation a very good experience. And the floor looks great--no accounting for wear and tear in the surrounding area of course, but they got the stain just right--you can barely notice the new section.

Samuel, Juan and their crew led by Jose were fantastic. They came to our Wardman-style house, assessed the floors quickly. They took into consideration that a previous owner had put vinyl tiles under the carpeting which would be hard to remove. They really took charge, got up the carpeting, vinyl tile and the horrible adhesive and sanded and stained the floors in record time -- two and a half days! They installed new shoe kick all around and even cleaned up after themselves. They had originally estimated $2900 but one of the rooms didn't have a floor so the additional $1500 was for installing a new floor. We could not be more happy about their work and recommend them highly. As new home owners we only hope that all of our work with vendors will be as pleasant.

Samuel and Juan at AG Floors are great - professional, flexible, and and responsible. After giving me a quote to refinish some existing floors, AG sent a team out and after 30 minutes of work, realized that there were stains in the wood that were not going to come out. Juan let me know right away and didn't charge me for the guys visit. After purchasing new flooring on my own, the AG team worked with us on scheduling (which was complicated due to three different wood orders) and installed the wood the same week. My only hesitation in giving an "A" for quality is that the installation team got some glue on on the baseboards which had just been painted. Overall, we had a good experience with AG and have recommend them to friends who are doing similar work.
