The work was quick and very, very clean. The wool fiberglass equipment and crew arrived twenty minutes ahead of schedule. Their first steps were to make sure everything in the house was kept neat. drop cloths and exclusion sheets of plastic were set up right away before the blower hose and ceiling access hole was even cut. Installation was also very quiet. Even though a significant amount of additional insulation paneling had to be installed that was above the original estimate, Dan did not change the installation price. My 60+ year rambler now has a fully insulated attic and a tidy and convenient ceiling access panel just out side the upstairs bathroom which we needed but did not have before. And there is zero effluent floating around or on the floor of the house.
Description of Work: Fiberglass flow insulation as well as high reflective paneling was installed in the sealed attic of my house.

It was a plesure to work with Quality Insulation. From initial contact through completion of the job everything was handled very professionally. Dan, the owner, was very responsive to my email request calling me immediately on a Sunday afternoon. He was very thorough in his explanation of how the service would be done and provided a cost estimate. He was very complete in describing the type of insulation we would need for this area. We scheduled the appointment in January 2012. I was well out of his normal service area but he was quite willing to make the trip. Dan and two of his co-workers arrived and carefully reviewed the situation and determined the best way to proceed. They carefully laid down tarps so nothing would get scratched or dirty. They brought the hose in through an upstairs window and proceeded to fill the attic with insulation. They sealed the attic hatch door while working so no insulation fell to the floor. Not one bit of insulation was on the floor when they finished. They also put insulation on the ceilings of the dormers in our master bedroom. These eaves were very cold and the insulation has improved them tremendously. They were also kind enough to remove some old heating equipment in the attic that a heating company had left behind when they replaced our furnace. It was too big and awkward for me to get out and they removed it in seconds. When they were finished with the insulation, they showed me the result. Everything was very clean and neat and a whole lot more insulation than I had before! They then sealed the attic hatch door with insulation and removed their working materials. The whole job took two hours, exactly what Dan had said it would. The final cost was exactly what the estimate was. I would positively recommend Quality Insulation to anyone looking to improve their house insulation. It was a plesure to work with Dan and the team!
Description of Work: Quality Insulation added insulation to my attic and dormers. The insulation brought the protection factor up to R49.

It went very well. They arrived, set up, and proceeded to do everything that needed to be done.Everything was cleaned and picked up afterward. At the time of getting the original estimate, Don Roberson was very careful to explain the various options that were available along with cost and utility. I did not experience any hard sell.
Description of Work: Insulation of our attic was installed to R49 standard. Skylights were also wrapped in insulating material. The installers were very careful to keep any insulation from getting out of the attic into the house. The installer actually called before the time of the appointment and said he would arrive a half hour early. No mess was left afterward.

Easy, excellent, am very happy. The house feels much better as well. Thank you Dan.
Description of Work: The owner of the company, Dan Roberson, came out to look at our attic and give us a cost estimate. He was very professional and very comfortable to deal with. There was no pressure whatsoever and he gave us an excellent price. It was literally half of what another insulation provider had quoted us, and at least 40% less costly than another general contractor had charged our friends for a smaller space and lesser quality and quantity insulation. The insulation Dan uses is of the highest quality, the type he uses in his own home. The job was done immaculately and the attic looks like a showroom for insulation. Dan and his son, Ryan, came to the home along with the crew, as they told me they do with every job. My husband and I are just delighted. Dan and his team did a beautiful job. I wish I could have them take care of so many other things. If you do business with this company I don' believe you'll be disappointed. Bravo to Dan, his beautiful son, and their wonderful team. Thank you

Dan Roberson could not have been more helpful or professional. I found him through Angie's List. I had a burst pipe in my basement and had to have the insulation replaced. I had initially arranged for him to perform the work but then went with the contractor recommended by my insurance company which was a mistake. Notwithstanding the fact that I cancelled our prescheduled appointment , Dan continued to give me advice over the phone. I finally saw the error of my ways and decided to have the work performed by an expert who I had learned to trust (i.e. Quality Insulation). I could not be more pleased. His crew is expert and polite. I can not recommend him or his company highly enough and I have definitely learned my lesson -- I will only go with contractors I find on Angie's list.

Dan Roberson was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. He thoroughly explained how he arrived at his insulation recommendation for our woefully under-insulated attic and discussed our options for preserving some attic space for storage (we ended up putting high-R reflective material around the attic access to provide some storage space). On the install date, he and his team arrived on time, worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. Dan also made sure we were aware of a rebate opportunity through the state of VA for part of the cost of the install & labor (actually, he didn't have the details of the rebate exactly right, but it was in our favor--we were able to claim both labor and materials, while Dan's estimate notes a rebate on materials only). A couple months after the install we had an energy audit done on the house, and the energy auditor confirmed that the house had the recommended amount of insulation for this part of the country and that the insulation appeared to be installed evenly.

I called Dan and left a message for him, and he promptly called me back. He gave me a quote on the phone after asking me a number of detailed questions and I really appreciated that. I called other companies and they made appointments and had to reschedule them and such. And some companies would not call me back. They showed up early in the morning as promised. Dan sent his son Ryan and 3 guys. They finished the job before 5 pm. I was really happy because they did not have to drill too many holes in the ceiling, at least not as many as I thought they would. They also repaired the holes with the drywall piece that they drilled out. I really liked that because some other companies that I got quotes from would have used styrofoam to plug the holes which does not sound good to me. I do need to put some spackling or joint compound over the holes and sand and paint. I am in the process of deciding whether to do this myself or hire a painter. They used 1x3's in the ceiling and put 4 drywall screws in each hole. They did miss two spots when they did the drill and fill however Dan did come back and fix that. Overall I have been very pleased with the job that they did. They were very neat with their work. There was very little dust left in my place. I think I could have had the job done for less but I do not think the others would have been as thorough as used as good materials. I got the Climate Pro which is formaldehyde free fiberglass. I really did not want the cellulose which is made out of newspaper. If you ever get a water leak you are supposed to remove the cellulose and since the work was done in a ceiling this was of a concern for me. I have noticed a great difference in the temperature in here and my heat does not run much at all when it gets really chilly out. I am very happy about this. Before the insulation my condo was very chilly on cold winter days. The airborne noise is greatly reduced. I can still hear the walking but I think this is to be expected however it sounds greatly muffled as opposed to how it sounded before. Also the sound from above does not seem to travel as well as it did. Previously for example if I was in my bedroom on the end of the condo I could hear my neighbors walking in the kitchen which is on the other end of the apartment. Now I cannot hear this. I am really happy with the job and I would gladly use Quality Insulation again.
Description of Work: I have a condo that was built around 1970. I really like my condo but I had some major complaints about noise from the unit above and it was also rather chilly in here in the winter. After doing some electrical work in the ceiling it became obvious to me that there was NO insulation in the ceiling! I looked at a variety of options- replacing the existing ceiling, using various sound deadening products and such. After much thought I decided to just blow insulation into the ceiling. It was the lowest cost option and it was the least invasive option. It was also the quickest and easiest option. I did not want to tear the ceiling out and start over. If I was to do that then I figured I would be better off building a new place or something.

From start to finish, Dan and his company proved themselves to be absolute professionals. Dan responded immediately to my request for quotation. He made himself available that very day for a visit. He was clear and communicative every step of the way. The work was performed at my mother's house. She is 90 years old and was always cold in her upstairs bedroom. After Quality Insulation finished their work, ALL of the house is warm and my mother can now freely enjoy ALL of her home. Also, Dan and his team made special arrangements to work the day after Christmas - Monday the 26th - while most of us were off enjoying the holiday - they showed up on time and finished quickly and efficiently - without mess or trouble. I will be hiring them for my own house - and recommend them to anyone interested in attic insulation. They truly are a service oriented company and I highly recommend them.

I called Dan on my day off about 4 hours before I had to leave for work. He happened to be in the local area and offered to stop by and give me an estimate before I left for work. Dan's estimate was quick and to the point and he knew exactly what my problems were and how to fix them. He answered all of my questions knowledgably and without hesitation. Seeing as I had almost no existing insulation in my house I found the price to be very reasonable in comparison to other offers without any haggling etc. Dan came up with the best solution per dollar spent to my problem. After I agreed to use him for the job, he gave me a call and had a cancellation come up that happened to work out with my schedule so I was able to get the job done quickly. Dan and his VERY proffessional crew showed up right at 7:30 as promised and got to work covering my house up immediately. They made sure there was no mess and i mean NO mess. Probably the most clean construction crew I've dealt with in 4 years of doing renovations on my home. Dan left the job for awhile but during the process each time a phase was completed his crew came downstairs and offered for me to come take a look before they closed up so I could see the job they had done and ask any questions. I found this very telling that despite Dan not being there his crew offered to show me their work. To say the least Dan's solution to my insulation has changed the liveability of my home completely. I used to leave my thermostat at 69 at night and the temperature of my upper level would usually be around 62-64 in the morning. Now I can leave my thermostat at 67 at night downstairs and it's a balmy 71 upstairs when I wake up not to mention the heat used to run constantly and now I hear it cycle 3-4 times at night. I can not say yet what the immediate savings on my bills will be but the upgrade was worth the comfort alone, not to mention the thousands it will save me on wear and tear on the furnace, and the A/C during the summer. This was a great experience start to finish at a reasonable price and it provided the best solution per dollar spent to my problems. Would definitley reccomend these guys to anyone.
Description of Work: Insulate 1962 Cape Cod that only had original builder grade insulation " about 5 inches in attic". Insulate side attic (dormers) that run the length of the house front and back. Cut into drywall on knee walls and installed High "R" reflective insulation along knee walls and spray foamed into place. Brought existing (or lack there of) insulation to R-49 behind knee walls and in attic. Add insulation between rafters of my slanted ceiling (cape cod style roof line).

After calling Quality Insulation I received a call back within an hour or so and spoke directly with Dan. He was able to come that same evening and gave quote. On the day of insulation he arrived on time. The insulation was installed without any hidden expenses. Eveything was cleaned, put back, if moved, as if no work had been done. There were pictures taken of the work if you had any questions. He is very personable, professionable and does superior work. He also called that evening to follow up on hiw work. Dan was great to work with throughout the process of the estimate and the actual work. He was honest and fair. Dan and his workers showed up on time for the work and performed the work in a very clean and professional manner. His suggestion to where to insulate our house were immediately felt as the night of the insulation it got down to the low 20s and we felt a noticeable difference on the second floor. He didn't try to sell us on more then what we needed.
Description of Work: Added about 12 in of blown insulation to a large attic that was insulated well. added reflective insulation to the floor boards that we use for storage. in addition the front of our house has multiple dormer windows that were cold, these areas had reflective insulation installed in them and them blown insulation after.

When we called Quality, we got a return phonecall from Dan in a timely manor. Dan came to give an estimate and we were ok with the price. He said he could schedule the work as soon as the next day. His crew performed the work which was blowing in a significant amount of insulation and I have to admit, there wasn't even a drop left on the floor below the attic when they were done. Very clean and neet. I would recommend Dan.

I called and spoke to Dan and he came over to give me an estimate the next day. I had seen other contractors advertising specials, but when I looked at them carefully, it was not for very much insulation (R-19), not for much space (200 feet) and I just didn't feel comfortable with their ads. Dan seemed to really know his stuff and enjoys educating his customers about what he does and how he does it. He suggested wrapping the skylight and putting the radiant barrier on the wall next to the room with a cathedral ceiling. I agreed to his proposal and his son, Ryan, and his crew came out a week later. The entire process took two hours. (They were exactly on time.) They didn't leave any mess. (Tarps on the floor, plastic elsewhere.) The attic looks great!! I was at about R-15 and now an at R-49. Also, Dan made a point of showing me his Virginia contractor's license and bonding documents.
Description of Work: Quality Insulation blew insulation into my attic, wrapped my skylight and put heat reflective material along the wall next to a room with a cathedral ceiling. The entire attic area is around 600ish square feet.

I placed a call into Dan on Wednesday Dec.21st. My call was promptly taken. Dan answered all of my questions and offered me an estimate over the phone. Dan said he could come out the following day if we did not mind an early evening appointment. Dan and his team arrived and spent some time prepping to make sure the house stayed clean! The workers were very quiet and it was like you almost did not know that they were here. When the installation was complete we went up to the attic to look around. The insulation was very neatly blown. The team cleaned up after themselves and left the home as they had found it. Dan was on site for a while at the beginning and then again towards the completion of the job. I would highly recommend Dan and his team for your insulation needs.

I had a very positive experience with Dan and his son Ryan. One of them was present at our house during the project (except when they had to pop out to get more insulation). Dan, the owner, was very focused on making us happy with his services, which we appreciated. While it may take a while for us to recoup the cost of this in terms of lower energy bills, we still feel this was worth the investment. We felt the difference in temperature that night and our house now feels cozy. The playroom is now warm enough for the kids to play in there, which saves us from installing new windows. Dan also helped us by installing weather-stripping for a small fee. I also appreciate the fact that when they cut two holes in our plaster (!) ceilings to blow in insulation, they put us in touch with a master painter named Raul who repaired the holes for a very reasonable fee.

I called on 12/7 for information and/or estimate. I got a call back later that day and Dan was going to be in the area on 12/12 and said he could do the job then. I gave an my estimated attic dimensions and he gave me an approximate quote over the phone. He and his team came on time on 12/12 and added the insulation. They blew insulation through a large pipe which they brought in through a window - and they spent a bit of time making sure that the window screen (which seems stubbornly in place) could be removed without damaging it. There was very little mess while doing the job and they cleaned up everything before leaving. Dan came at the start and end of the job and provided information and the forms for the Virginia tax credit. The whole process went very easily.

My experience with this company was wonderful, from the first conversation with Dan to the last conversation with Ryan. Customer service was great, great and great.
Description of Work: I wanted to have insulation installed in my attic so I called the company that performed an energy audit earlier in the year for me and requested an estimate for the fixes they recommended. One of the fixes was to install insulation in the attic. After reviewing their estimate, I decided to call around and compare prices. The first company I called was Quality Insulation and my search ended there. I spoke to Dan the owner. He explained the types of insulation that are available and that he used the best on the market. He gave me the website so I could read the information for myself. Dan gave me a quick summary of what he would charge to complete the attic insulation. I know the approximate square footage of my home so I told him and he gave me a ball park estimate, with the caveat that they would need to measure once they arrived and so the cost could be slightly higher or lower. The cost came in lower. This is a family owned business with the personal touch that you hope to find with such a business. Dan's son Ryan arrived on time with three employees. Ryan has a wonderful personality and I had the greatest conversation with him for a few minutes when the staff were setting up the work area. He explained what they would be doing and measured the house so I could know the cost. I had no doubt that the cost would come in right around what Dan had given me so I really was not worried. They laid drop cloths from the front door all the way upstairs to the attic entrance point. They ran the insulation tube (can't think of the word to describe it) through the bedroom window so as not to have to run it through the house. One employee got suited up and went into the attic. Once he was in the attic they sealed the hole with plastic and the insulation tube was inserted through a hole made in the plastic. This prevented any insulation from falling into the house. They pumped the insulation in from the equipment outside. The work took about 1-1/2 hours. There was really no "clean up" inside the house so when they were finished they removed the drop cloths, replaced the screen to the window they opened and they were done. From beginning to end the process went smoothly.

Quality Insulation did a fantastic job. It's a family owned business and both father and son are wonderful to work with, taking time to explain and taking great care of their workers. It was a really hot day and they all came promptly that morning to finish the attic before the heat of the day made it unbearable. I appreciated the care they took of the rugs, covering them with canvas before tramping through the house with insulation. They were flexible about finishing the job the next day when I suddenly needed to delay the porch work until my electrician had done some work there. The delay also suited everyone since the day was so hot. They returned promptly the next morning and finished quickly, leaving everything clean.

Dan and his team were prompt, courteous, efficient and professional. Dan came to my home first to look at the attic, discuss my options and give an estimate. Unlike some companies I considered previously he did not do a "hard sell" for any particular product or approach but listened to my needs and accomodated them. For example, I decided to use blown insulation rather than bats, but I wanted to retain a small amount of floor space for storage of boxes, so he agreed to create a platform covered with reflective shield. The team took care to cover my floors and cleaned up nicely afterwards. I was very pleased with the whole experience.
