On the positive side, J was immediately responsive when I called him back to fix the installation of the dishwasher panel which he had not done properly. On the negative side, the dishwasher is no longer aligned properly and he was unable to address that.

JC appliance was hired to fix my freezer as it stopped freezing. He scheduled an appointment and he showed up an hr after appointed time. No call. His diagnosis was faulty fan motor and he was paid his diagnostic fee $50. He came back two days later, installed the part and collected the balance of his fee. He informed me that I have 60 day warranty on work done. The fix did not work. I waited for a day to pass to give the freezer time to cool down before calling JC appliance about the problem. It took us 2weeks before he returned to try and see what else can be done. So far he has collected my money($200+) and he has failed to show up to two scheduled appointments. JC Appliance is not reliable nor is he competent.

The repair on the microwave door lasted but a few minutes despite the fact that I asked him whether it would be safer to change the part (a switch). He said that it wasn't necessary because fiddling with the wire would last a while. Unfortunately, the job done held for 3 days and of course when I called back he quoted me an outrageous amount which I declined. Not happy at all.

When I realized my refrigerator wasn t cooling properly, I checked Home Advisor and crossed my fingers that I d be able to get someone there before the food all spoiled. JT Appliance was there within 20 minutes, diagnosed the problem, and assured me that the refrigerator would be back to the correct temperature by the next morning - it WAS! I highly recommend the prompt, courteous service!

The involvement of Home Advisor confused things but JC Appliance came to the house when he said that he would and completed the repair as promised. Several other repair services failed to show or called after booking to say that they didn't have a tech available. I'll use JC if I need any appliance repairs in the future.

Hold the phone! This guy said he was going to call when he was on his way and he did! He said he would be at my home within a time window, and he was! He diagnosed the problem with our oven, gave us a quote, checked to see if the parts were in stock and said he could fix it that afternoon and he did! Wow. The price was good, and he applied the service call charge to the repair bill. Great. I highly recommend JC Appliance.

Jay requires $40 to show up, evaluate the work required, and to provide an estimate. When he arrived at my house, Jay gave me an estimate for the following work: repair noisy dryer, clean lint from inside dryer, replace flexible duct with a rigid duct, and install a lint-collector cap on the vent opening outside. He did not have the needed parts with him and ordered them on the phone while still at my house. He gave me an estimate of $300-350. He said he would return the next day to install the parts, but it snowed. He had a scheduling conflict on the day after that and did not come. When he finally showed up, he had ordered the wrong part and had to return the next day. He told me that I could do the lint clean out myself, which I did because I wanted to make sure it got done. At this point, five days had elapsed since Jay first entered my house and my dryer was still not repaired. Over the course of his time here, Jay asked me to give him kleenex, paper towels, and duct tape. (What kind of repairman comes without duct tape?) The rigid duct he installed is Jerry-rigged, held together with the duct tape that I supplied, and looks awful. When it came time to settle up, Jay could not remember the estimate he quoted me. I told him the amount and said I expected it to be adjusted downward because he had not done the lint clean out. Jay: 1. Claimed I had not asked for the cleaning (I had). 2. Even if he had done it, he said, it would have been free because he does not charge for cleaning (he certainly did not tell me that at the outset). An argument ensued. I told Jay I did not think he did very good work and was the worst contractor I have worked with. He told me that my house smelled of cat piss (probably does) and when I decided to pay him by check he informed me that if it bounced he would put a mechanics lean on my house. He also claims I am the worst customer he has ever had. I guess his other customers do not mind being overcharged for shabby work and then being insulted. Jay claims it was okay to insult me because I **insulted the quality of his work** Oh well. Another lesson learned.
