Thompson Creek Window Company

A great experience overall &awe are happy with the result. We contacted Thompson Creek when a problem arose 24 months later--they fixed it immediately.

The product is excellent, but the price of $1,400 for one double hung window is outrageous. We also wanted to replace two french doors but with an estimate of $10,000 EACH (after the 30% discount) we decided that we could live with the doors we have. Their method of providing transparency and accuracy in contracting is non-existent. We never received an itemized contract for either job. They never recorded on paper or computer what we were getting and what you were paying for. It is all verbal with only a total cost figure show on a tablet screen that one of the homeowners signs with their finger. Because of this process, and due to a break down in communication between what I wrote down and understood what we were being charged for and getting (based the salesman's verbal quote) and what my husband thought we were getting when he signed the tablet with his finger signature and gave a credit card, we ended up paying exorbitant fees for the three windows. Because I trusted our prior experience I was not concerned about double checking the bill with him for integrity. It was not until the the installer told us that they were coming to install three windows and that still owed more (after paying a third down last month) than I recorded that the entire project would cost. Of course, we contacted the salesperson who assured us that the bill was correct. The windows do not cost $750 with $200 for lattice inserts (as I wrote down based on what he told us), but $1,400 EACH based on what he calculated to bill us. We only put windows on the back of our home this year using Thompson Creek. We will NOT use them to do the front of our house.

It went ok but some things I did not like. The supervisor was suppose to go over the work with me but he never did. They install a drain pipe coming down my roof connecting to the gutter. The drain pipe flowed into the gutter that was screwed down with a bracket on the roof. I did not approved of this because I had just got a new roof put on my house and I did not want any holes drilled into my roof.

Work was performed to our satisfaction.

I would use them in a heart beat. They came out and gave me a great price. They came out and did it exactly when they said they would do it.

They didn't know all the details of the type of doors, so we went with Nova. If I would of known how the work would of came out, I would of went with Thompson Creek Window Company. The salesmen needs to improve what the manufacturer is offering based on the time of the year. It is really, what are the offering, what are they continuing, and what are they discontinuing based on when the door is going to be purchased. He didn't seem to know that as the Nova person did. That is what impressed us more about the sales person at Nova. We figured if the sales person at Nova was that good. The quality of the installer should be the same, but they was not.

We did lots of negotiating. Even though their quote was higher, they saw a quote I got from a competitor and they matched it.

This company could not make it more clear to me that a female was incapable of making financial decisions without her husband present. I had to speak to the supervisor to even get an appointment scheduled, since my husband was not available to be there. I was so upset by their sexist treatment that I called about ten minutes later and cancelled the appointment. If this how they behave before I even get a quote, I can only imagine how they would treat me if I hired them to do the work.

We have a big bay window, the wood was deteriorating somewhere outside and it needed to be enclosed, like a fiberglass or something and then, it was leaking within the wall. Inside the wall, you could just see it, it wasn't actual water on the floor, but it was leaking within. They did a great job. They're wonderful too. Some windows we ordered from them, and then they did this for us too. It was in stages, the first stage was to put the casing up. That was in the summer of 2015. Then the leaking started because they put that casing on and so it was associated with that. So then, we had them come back out and that might have been in the springtime, maybe around March or April, something like that. That's when they fixed the inside and the outside because there were little openings in the casing. When they installed the casing, they didn't do as good a job as they should have or else we wouldn't have had to call them back out. But the good thing about them is that they're very good. When there is something wrong and you call them, they come right away and they fix it, they don't charge you extra. They own up to their mistakes and are willing to fix them. It was reasonable.

The quality of the product is outstanding. The professionalism and skills of the installers is excellent. They arrived early, were very respectful, cleaned up after themselves, and stayed until the work was done. However, the salesperson lead me to believe they could install on a Saturday so I signed with them. I have a really heavy weekday travel schedule. After signing I was then told by the scheduler that Saturdays are not an option. After back and forth between the salesperson who remember things differently, and the scheduler, we were able to work out a solution.

Absolutely wonderful. Prompt, professional, easy to deal with, and very efficient. About 7 or 8 installers and foreman were on sight. All were very systematic and organized in their approach to the actual installation process. Liked dealing with them so much we had them return the following year to replace gutters and downspouts.

They work was performed when they said. The installers showed up on time and were very professional. The end product looks great and I expect to use them again in the future to replace additional windows.

From my experience, Thompson Creek is a very polished marketing/sales company. Great radio, newspaper and tv advertisements with local celebrity testimonials. They appear to subsidize this top-flight marketing campaign by ripping off their customers. Thompson's price was approximately twice the price of similarly rated Angie's List contractors offering the same products. Oh, and this was after they claimed to be offering their lowest prices of the year....ouch$

The sales person was pushy but we were able to negotiate a substantial discount. The guy that came to do the exact measurements discovered that the style of 3 of 4 doors would not work with the size of the doors. He had to come back to revise the order after we picked a new style. Lead time was 6-8 weeks once we placed our order. On the day the doors and windows were to be installed Thompson Creek discovered that they forgot to order the front door. They placed a rush order on the front door, if came in ~3 weeks later but was damaged and had to go back again, took ~6 weeks to get the replacement. One of the exterior doors was missing a deadbolt. Thompson Creek sent a locksmith to install a deadbolt but it was installed 18" above the door knob, the door had to be replaced due to the unprofessional workmanship of the locksmith. The window install went well. We did have some damage to the interior trim which Thompson Creek came back to patch and paint. We are very much enjoying our new windows and door. They are a substantial improvement over what we had prior. It took a number of appointments and phone calls to address the missing front door, reordering the front door which was damaged, dealing with the locksmith who ruined a door, replacing the ruined door, fixing damaged trim/paint touch-ups. We were offered a $125 credit for the multiple appointments. At this price point I would have hoped for a smoother process and less rework. Thompson Creek was quick to address the issues as they arose thus the B grade.

Did not purchase from this company. There prices were much higher than a national company.

We found the sales man to be pushy and condenscending. It was a hard sell for windows that were overpriced. When we told him we needed time to do more research, he suddenly came down in price if we bought the windows on the spot. We again told him we are getting more estimates and suddenly we were offered "last years" model at a price that was still more expensive than the other 3 window companies we got estimates from. We do not respond well to a hard sell and we told him that and he still tried to push his product on us. We went with another company that had a more honest , non used car salesman approach.

They did a great job. The minor problems that arose were resolved in a very professorial and satisfying manner.

Fairly well. There is some weather sealing showing on the door that shouldn't be. It is aesthetic, but it shouldn't be there. The door also squeaks now after less than a year. The last door that was there for 10+ years didn't.

This was the second order of windows for our home that we placed with Thompson Creek. This order went smoothly until installation day. On that day we discovered that all of the window sashes for the home, except for one window, had the wrong grid pattern. There was a bit of pushback from TC about replacing the sashes with new ones, but they did agree to do this. On the day of new sash installation, one of the new sashes did not fit. This resulted in a long wait for a supervisor that we were told would be there within 2 hours, but showed up four hours later. A new sash was again ordered. It in fact took four times, and three month, to get the correct sash for our home. By the end of this experience, we were so frustrated that we wrote a letter to the Secretary of the company and sent it to him via email and certified mail, as well as giving a copy to the installer to hand deliver. To othis day we have yet to hear anything back from him. We did have a sincere apology from our project manager and an apology from her supervisor after we asked for one. The supervisor also said that our case would be used for further quality improvement. In terms of compensation for our frustrations and time, we were given a $75.00 gift card, which considering we have spent tens of thousands of dollars with this company, was frankly insulting. We have still not heard anything back from anyone in the management of this company about our issues. We have heard from salesmen trying to sell us more windows, and a customer satisfaction representive who sent us a tote bag. We replied to this representative that if 1) She was unaware of the issues that we have had, this is yet another example of the poor communication at TC or if 2) she was trying to mollify us with a tote bag that would be advertising for TC, that was more insulting than the $75.00 gift card. I informed her that if we did not wish to hear from TC again, unless they were trying to mend fences and included the letter that had been sent to the Secretary of TC. We have not heard anything back from her or anyone else at TC. At this point we have a significant number of windows and doors to replace at our home, but despite the fact that TC makes a quality product, we will not be ordering from them again. The lack of response from management tells us that they are not interested in keeping their clients happy, and their ham fisted approach towards appeasing us and continued salesperson calls tells us their interest lies in their ledger sheet. If we had heard from management via email, snail mail or phone call, we would probably be ordering from them again, but if they can't be bothered, we are done!

The quality of the product is really excellent. I mean, just the way the windows are put in, how you can, well they're modern, they're definitely more modern than what I had and these guys definitely was impressive as to knowing what the whole experience of putting them in. That's just what I would tell them, they did an excellent job of putting them in. Cleaned up and got everything. They had to tear the old ones out, and redo whatever they do around your seal when they do that. These guys knew what they were doing.

Excellent guys. One was on the inside and one was on the outside. Really professional job.

Perfect. They came when they said they would. Windows were made to fit where old windows were that were being replaced without having to disturb existing inside window molding. The only problem was during the cleanup they missed a couple of white metal pieces that had fallen on my white carpet.

Salesman came by to discuss replacing windows. He appeared knowledgeable. He never gave me his card or any type of brochure. I also never got a quote.
