Description of Work: A man called Ben was cutting a dead tree from our neighbor's lot. He knocked on our door and asked permission if he could fall the dead tree on our yard. I said OK. Then I told him there were several branches on my tree that appeared to be rotten. He climbed the tree and stated that the tree was infected with canker worms and they could spread out to other trees. He offered to cut down the tree for $600 which I thought was a good deal. He had an Ford F150 pick-up truck and 2 other employees working with him. He completed to cut my neighbor's tree and left 3 pieces of their trunk in my yard. On that same day he proceeded to cut my tree, limbs first and let it hanging on the tree. None of my cut tree was loaded in his truck because it was full. He stated that he was leaving (2PM) with his crew to pickup the chipper and unload his truck. He did not come back that day nor the next day. He came back on the 16th and told he had an emergency to remove a tree that fell on a roof. He didn't show up until the 20th and partially loaded up his truck. I have called him many times and his answering service stated that it was full.I never saw him again. In the meantime I have called other contractors to finish the job and I have received an estimate of between $800 to $1000. He left 3/4 of the tree still standing. It has been estimated by several contractors that it will take 7 /10 trucks loads to remove all the twigs and branches. Excluding the tree trunk. I hope he gets caught for doing a dishonest and unscrupolous job. HE IS A SCAMMER . Incidentally he scammed my neighbor too!

I believed this man was referred by another landscape person known to me.That turns out not to be the case. I did not check. He came with his receipt pad, estimated the job (remove two dead trees from in front of my house), took $500 deposit and left. There were days and days of calls back and forth with many excuses as to why he wasn't showing up. There were supposed accidents, people in the hospital, car emergencies etc. finally I lost patience and Ben called me to say that I had been "impolite to his partner" and that they were returning my deposit and would not do the work. I said that sounded good to me. Return my money and call it a day.It is now November and I have not received any reimbursement from this company. For a while my calls were unanswered. Sometimes the phone was "disconnected". Other times the phone just clicked off. Long story short, he has answered my call a couple of times, assuring me that the money is coming. He hasn't forgotten me, etc. I think I learned an expensive lesson here. The first one was to check Angie's list FIRST before dealing with anyone! It was this experience that got me signed up. Sadly, I was a little late. Had I checked first, I would have seen that this was not a company to trust.

Description of Work: Got a knock on our door Wednesday evening, July 25, 2012. A man who looked like he had been working all day, sweaty and dirty t-shirt, said he and his brother were in the tree service business and noticed that a tree in our back yard looked as if it had worms since the tree was not healthy looking. He said he would cut the tree down, trim one other tree and haul the tree away. He said he would be back that Friday, July 27 to do the job. He wrote up a generic contract with all the details we talked about asking for 1/2 deposit ($200.00) at the time and the rest on completion of the job. He signed and we signed it. He put his name and 2 phone numbers on the contract. Friday when we got home from work we saw the trees were still standing. My wife called one of the #'s which was not in service. The other number had a voice mail with his company's name, but mailbox was full. I called a little later that evening and John answered the phone. I told him I was upset that he had taken our money and not performed the service. He said that both his trucks had mechanical problems, but he would try to do it on Saturday and if not on Monday for sure. Monday came and went and the trees were still up. I called again Monday evening and left a message saying that I wanted my money back and if I didn't hear from him I would call the police for which I did. I would NOT recommend this person to anyone, he is dishonest and a thief. We will probably see him in court.I repeat, DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE.

Terrible Experience. See above
Description of Work: We originally hired these guys in January to cut 1 tree down. They completed that job and all was fine there. Then they came back for more business in March. Because the price was good we decided to hire them for a much larger job (March) with several trees. We paid half when they wrote up the agreement and half when they returned to cut the trees. We agreed they would cut them down, cut into pieces, and we would remove the wood ourselves, no problem there. They cut most of the branches down on the 1st tree, not the trunk. In doing so, they knocked down our cable line (honest mistake) and we had the cable company come out to restore the line. They left the entire tree trunk without cutting it down and moved onto 2nd tree. Second tree was a dead, no branches, just the trunk, very easy cut. They left the entire 2nd tree trunk laying accross the lawn uncut, they said it was getting late in the day and would be back the next day to finish "knock it all out". That Didn't Happen. We called and called them asking when they were coming back. Always, we will be back there tomorrow, we will be there sometime this weekend. Finally, we got tired of seeing it lay in our yard and my husband cut it into peices. About a week after that, they just showed up,we thought great, we will finally get the job completed. The only thing the did that day was rake up a small pile of debris that was left on the ground and left without saying anything. We called and called and called, left voicemail messages when the mailbox wasn't full and allowed us to leave a message, all the other times we just hung up. The times they did answer, they said they would be here tomorrow, be here on the weekend, brother is in the hospital, brother is sick, be here next week because it's the right thing to do, they had already been paid, blah blah blah. Here it is May 30th, we continue to call and most the time we can't leave a message because voicemail box is full or it just goes to an automated response saying the party is not available to call back. I am a professional Realtor and could and would have been able to give them many leads for work, I had told them that. I'm not happy it happened to us at all, but glad it happened to us before referring them to anyone else. I am very strongly considering filing a judgement against them in small claims court and probably will. Do yourself a big favor and don't even talk to these guys! I hope they see this and will complete what they were hired to do. If so, I would gladly post that on here as well.

First of all, they limbed the tree as does every other tree sevice - fine, no problem there. But that's where normal practice ended. Instead of cutting the tree into short sections from above and letting them fall, they felled the entire trunk as one piece. This left three15"-diameter x 12"-deep "divots" in the ground, a trench the size of the trunk in the lower yard where we had had sod laid the past spring, and a four-foot tall "stump" big enough for elves to bake cookies in.. They also damaged a retaining wall which separates the upper and lower yards, as well as taking out three large branches of a rather old dogwood tree, which made my wife cry because it's her favorite tree in the yard. After they took down our tree, they cut into pieces and removed them; they also rermoved the branches. Then they moved across the street and took down our neighbor's tree. I kept going over and asking when they were going to come back to cut down the stump and have it ground out, and fill in the divots. They haven't been seen or heard from since. I have to be fair to one young man named Buddy: he was very professional, friendly and had a very good work ethic. Ben was friendly but only did about half of what he said he would, and John was very standoffish. I haven't been able to get in touch with either them or thir insurance company - which is an AUTOMOBILE insurance company.
Description of Work: The contract (written by hand in an office supply store iinvoice book) specified that the "company" was supposed to remove ONE oak tree, remove it from our poperty, fill in any divots and have the stump ground out.
