I paid a $89 fee. The guy just did not do a thorough job. His demeanor was just not very nice. He did a visual inspection. For me, that wasn't acceptable service at all. I would never use them again. He tried to charge me more for a 10-minute visit where he used literary no tools. I called the supervisor while he was there and they honored the rate. But, it was not a good experience. I would not recommend them. The guy was on time. The price was fine. I didn't have a problem with the price. I had a problem with the quality of service provided.

They did an excellent job. Two technicians were out and completed the job in under a week. They were very courteous and professional. They were very quick and efficient workers. They kept the house clean while they were working and were great at cleaning up after each day. It was a pleasure working withe company. It was very easy to schedule the project.

I was very disappointed with how hard it was, to find assistance with buying an appliance. I had sales people walk by me numerous times, without one even acknowledging my presence. I finally went to the cashier and asked them to call the department manager for me. The manager found me a sales person; who happened to be the one guy, that walked by me at least three to four times. I knew I wanted a Kenmore washer, just needed help understanding the difference from one unit to another. I don't know what has happened to Sears over the past several years, but they used to be the only place for me to buy appliances. I bought a washer that day and had it delivered the next day. The delivery crew was great, I was very impressed with their level of professionalism.

I was satisfied Stars customer for decades (currently own Kenmore Elite refrigerator-freezer, KE dishwasher, Kenmore steam washer & dryer) --BUT now I'm an UNhappy customer and will never buy from Sears again. 1) I bought Kenmore Elite bottom freezer Refrigerator (model #795-72189-211) on 12/29/2012 at Sears in White Oak (sale price $2,825, originally $4,199). Very nice salesman. Delivered & installed on 12/31/12, as promised, but kitchen floor was scratched. 2) DECEPTIVE: I wasn't told this is a LG appliance. "LG" not on appliance or in manual. Also not told that 2x/year the water filter ($58) & air filter ($25) must be replaced. 2) POOR QUALITY, SLOW REPAIRS: In-door icemaker broke 7/16/13. Water poured onto floor. Requested emergency service. Ist repair visit 8/3/13 (5 hr window). Ordered 2 valves ($344). Installed 8/10 (5 hr wait; 1 hour late).Still broken. Main panel ordered ($637). Repair scheduled for 8/26. 3) UNRESPONSIVE SUPERVISOR: 2 requests, no return calls.

Sears came out initially, diagnosed the problem, and whatever they fixed had nothing to do with the heating system of the dryer. I had to call another company to really fix it. They charged me too much because they didn't fix it. They charged me for the service call even though they didn't diagnose it right. Sears did allow me to refund the part that they put in that was totally not needed. Why pay for a service call when you have a bozo come to the house who doesn't know what he's doing.

Overall it went well except for the excessive charges described above.
Description of Work: The Sears gas hot water heater is excellent. The installer was professionsal, respectful, and resourceful. However, you get charged excessively for every part that needs to be replaced. For example, the water suppy valve needed to be replaced for code. The price on Sears website for a solder connection quarter turn valve was less than $9.00 but I was charged $105.00. Since the hot water heater and installer was in the house and I didn't have hot water, I had to pay. If you have a chance, go to a plumbing supply, Home Depot, etc. before the installer arrives and purchase new water and gas valves and exhaust gas vent pipe. You will save a lot.

I purchased an oven, a refrigerator and a range hood. The products are all fine and arrived late, but not more so than you might typically expect from a big box store. My issue is with the double charging. I'm actually stunned at how unhelpful they have been, even though I am not dealing with the "executive office." I would strongly recommend against using Sears for appliance purchases.
Description of Work: I purchased several appliances at the Gaithersburg Sears for a kitchen remodel. They charged me twice for the same appliances and have been singularly unhelpful in removing the charges from my credit card. Four months later they STILL have duplicate charges on my credit card. This really goes to the corporate Sears more than this particular Sears. If the models aren't in stock, the stores order online in the same way you or I might from the website. But that means you are stuck dealing with online service people who really have no interest in helping resolve any problems.

We have a service contract on it and it never works properly. Every year we take it into the service department and they keep it for at least a month. The dehumidifier is still faulty; we’ve had it for a few years, and every year we have to take in so that way it will start working again.

I ordered a stove and set up delivery. One day before delivery they called and said it was not going to be delivered. We came back from a trip early and had a plumber scheduled. They finally told us that the stove we ordered was back ordered. We had to order another stove. I wish they would have told us earlier. We have not confidence with them at all.

It was not a good shopping experience. It was a nightmare. The first delivery, they delivered the wrong size mattress and box spring. The second delivery was defective. The third delivery was defective. When we finally received the mattress and box spring that we ordered was on January 17, two months later. The quality was not there, it is second quality and they don't tell you that. We are not angry or hard people to deal with and they never called to give us any update. I can't tell you how many trips we made back to the store and they just hand you off from one person to the next. We had a morning delivery between 9am and 12pm and they didn't come until 6:30pm without them calling. My husband and I had to take turn staying home from work to wait for them to deliver the mattress. The delivery people are just horrible, they want to argue and would not help me with set up. They were beyond rude. I will not use them again for anything.

I purchased a new hot water heater from Sears via their website including installation via a local sub-contractor. The quality of the hot water heater is excellent with great reviews from Consumer Reports, the sub-contractors were very professional, the service was prompt with next-day installation. The issue, however, is with Sears and their hidden costs of $450 in addition to the $1,200 already paid for the purchase and installation. Some of these costs were improvements to bring the installation up to code, but being charged $150 to install a ball valve that cost $5 at Lowe's is inexcusable. To their credit, the sub-contractors were genuinely embarrassed by these markups and provided a contact at Sears to obtain a partial refund. I did contact Sears, but after months of foot-dragging and lack of follow-up a "supervisor" stated that the charges were valid. Yes, they wore me down and I gave up, but I will never shop at Sears again.

Friendly service person, arrived promptly. Diagnosed that my disposer needed replacement and had one on his truck so he could replace it right then. However, he did not use plumber's putty to keep the decorative flange from rotating when he attached the disposer ring to the flange and the flange rotated so the words are kitty-wumpus and he saw that and didn't bother to fix it. Says doesn't need the putty as it won't leak without it. Also the rubber 'teeth' - whatever that part is called that partially covers the hole to help keep things from dropping down in the disposer - they are also out of alignment - instead of being aligned so it also has the teeth lining up with the sink they are also slightly off. The only reason I didn't demand he fix these visual irritants is because I need to get a new flange that matches the finish of my faucet, as he took that one off and told me I get all new parts (hum, even though the flange is brushed stainless look and I had a chrome one in?) Tried to get pictures to show you, but the camera can't catch the details enough for you to see the misalignment I am talking about. And Sears has told me that it isn't their problem. I guess that means they don't plan to come out and fix the issue.
Description of Work: Covered under my Sears Master Protection Plan. Replaced garbage disposer. Only reason I said 'yes' to use again is because I have the Master Protection Plan and I will get someone different each time I call.

I am unhappy with their inability to fix my refrigerator. You always have to wait a long time before they can help you out. I purchased a service agreement and have had difficulty getting service in a timely manner. They put you on a long wait time on the phone and then keep switching you around. Yes, right now I have to use them but would strongly think before you buy a service agreement from them.

Will never purchase a Sears appliance or use Sears Service Repair again. Contacted Sears to diagnose and repair my Kenmore Elite Dryer. Sears scheduled an appointment and gave us a 1-5 pm window. Wife stayed home...Technician never showed up. Contacted Sears and were told they scheduled us for a different date a week later than originally told. I asked how they intended to compensate us for the time wasted waiting for them. They offered a $10 Gift Card. Insulting. They would not discount the service or budge in any way. This is the second time we have gone through Sears. The first time the work was performed but we still had to wait weeks before they could schedule us. Each call to Sears requires anywhere from 20 min to 1 hour of wait/hold time. I contacted a local appliance repair company today. They are coming out the same day. The service fee is half that of Sears and it is applied toward any repairs. I'm so happy that I did not sign up for the extended service contracts/warranties through Sears. I would hate to be chained to them any longer. So long Sears! Another customer lost.

I've had mixed experiences with Sears Home Repair. I've had technicians who have figured out the problem right away and fixed it, and I've also had to have a return for the same problem - getting the return appointment is just as bad as the wait for the first. Doesn't matter that they messed up the first time, you have to go to the bottom of the queue and work your way back up, and that can take weeks. Oh, and how about the times (twice in two years) I've been told AFTER the time frame they were supposed to be there (because I called to see what was happening) just to be told 'the technician called in sick today' and then they rescheduled me and of course dumped me to the bottom of the queue again (fortunately my husband likes to help with the dishes since it was our dishwasher that crumped), just to eventually get them out and declare it DOA and needing to be replaced (oh, my dishpan hands-but we LOVE the new dishwasher, to get off the subject here). I've also been able to get Sears to call about 20 minutes before they arrive so I don't have to sit at home waiting for them and can still beat them to my door. Overall I'm going to rate them Good, since I've had so many experiences on the better side than on the lousy side. I'm rating price Good instead of excellent, since I feel the Master plan is a bit on the steep side, but I keep it anyway because that way I can pick up the phone and call for a repair without having to check my bank account since the repair or preventive maintenance is covered.
Description of Work: I have a Master Protection Plan, which covers all my Sears purchased appliances. I have repairmen/women do both repair and preventive maintenance. I've been using the Sears Home Repair service for over 20 years, but I will report on just the last two years since that's what is important. And I usually have someone out about three to five times a year (except this last year I had someone out five times in three months for my dishwasher - and that five times doesn't include the time I waited for the technician who never showed). I don't usually take advantage of the preventive maintenance plan on some of my covered items (if it ain't broke, don't give the repairman a chance to break it).

I had Sears to my home on November for the annual check up of my three sears extended-warranty products; microwave, refrigerator and stove. While there I had the technican checked out an older (2005) Kenmore Elite refrigerator we keep in the basement that had ice formed in the freezer compartment. He said wasn?t qualified but needed a technican. I called and the soonest appointment was Friday November 26. On Wednesday November 24 we got a call from Sears saying the technican won't be coming on the 26th but the next available appointment is December 16. (remember that date) I called and complain and they rescheduled for the 30th when my 90 year old mother could let them in. When the technican came he said he just used the last part from his truck and we would have to order the part. It would take 15mintues to install and the labor charge would be $240 (He said some people it takes longer; the labor rate is set standard for replacing this module). When the part was sent to our home, we could then get it immediately installed. When the part came in December 5, we were told the installer could get it installed on December 16 between 8 and noon. I also got them to waive the outrageous installation fee. At 10am on 12/16 we got a call that the technican would be coming in the afternoon, (the person I had covering the house had to leave at 2. A neighbor was able to cover. We got a call that we were the next call at about 2:30; he was 15 minutes away. At 3, Sears lost contact with the technican who never showed up. Sears said we would have to reschedule for next year. I asked for a supervisor and told, after a 20 minute hold, that the technican was now scheduled for the next day; 12/17. He was schedule to come between 8 and noon. He showed up at 3 and it took 15 minutes to install. Once i get the ice picked away, I will find out if the problem is solved. Any reason I shouldn't cancel my service contracts with Sears?
