Company was very nice on the phone. The engineer was running late, but still managed to make it to our place on time. We received several phone updates from the service center letting us know that he was running a bit late, and when he could be expected, which was nice. When he arrived the engineer was very knowledgable and friendly, and truly wanted to help us out. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Called Blue Dot for some consultation on our cooling system and thermostats. Simply wanted them to take a look at our very non-standard setup that was installed by the last homeowner and help us to figure out how we could improve it.

Have used company in the past, and had been satisfied even though I knew their prices were high. My first mistake was calling on the day after a holiday. Their call center was overwhelmed. I spent 20 minutes on the phone three separate times over the course of four hours. Twice The line just died. Once I pressed 0 to leave a message like the recording said, and the called dropped. Two other times the call just died as soon as it connected. Around 4:00 I dialed a name on the Angie’s listing directly. She said someone would call back right away. Someone did, and said they were busy with calls, but didn’t seem to understand that the phones were not working right. I also left an internet appointment request in the morning that was never acknowledged. Hopefully that was because I had received an appointment by the end of the day. My wife took a day off from work on Friday. (They could not give a time of day.) At Noon I called to see if they were coming. They said they were. At 5:30 they called to say they would be out in the morning. The next morning they called to say they would be out in the afternoon. The net of all of this is that they are not set up to handle the volume of business they get on peak days, and they overpromise on appointments trying to please. The tech that came was very professional. (He rates an A) He quickly figured the problem, and explained what was wrong with the system. The problem was a defrost board on the compressor that would have to be ordered to the tune of $789.00, and he would have to come back. I have some knowledge of prices, and felt the price to be excessive. I did a quick internet search, and found the EXACT OEM part brand new for $95 including shipping. I checked the price because the last time they did work for me I paid $335 for a capacitor that I found out later I could get for $35. I know the company has expenses, overhead and warranties the part. Some of these costs are or should be covered by the service charge. I run a business with service technicians. I sell parts that I purchase and manufacture. In no way are these reasonable markups. Sorry, I will be using someone else from now on.

Our experience with them was really good. They were easy to work with. The people that did the work here were named Chuck Snyder and Tom Nesvitt. They were very knowledgeable. They do their own specialized metal work also, and I was impressed with that.

The semi-annual check-ups are free. The cost is reasonable. They are punctual and come on time. We never have to call them back after any repairs. We haven't had any major problems with what they have done. We have been using them for about 20 years and we like them.

Called to set up an appointment for a comfort advisor as the business description stated. I was having some issues keeping the upstairs in my townhouse cool and wanted an expert opinion on my options so I called three providers in my area listed here. The other two were very professional and one responded the same day. This company however wanted to charge me 82 dollars for a service call just to come out. I tried to explain that I was looking for a comfort advisor to come out and give me some advice/estimates on upgrading my system but that didn't work 82 dollars or nothing. I opted for nothing.

I put a bid for 4 A/C installers. I received 3 poor responses and one that was great. Here's what happened: 1. put in internet request (they give a discount for internet requests) 2. i was called within 5 minutes. the dispatcher asked when i'd be at the house for the estimate. i told him later the next day and he said they'll come as late as i need. we scheduled the appointment. 3. the estimator came out precisely on time. he reviewed everything, spent a few minutes writing things up, and reviewed my options. They followed up with me the next day to make sure things went ok. I got a couple other estimates after this. All were more expensive with a lesser product. So i went with these guys. The installation went great. The installers were very friendly even with infants crying and the dog jumping around. Everything was done on time. These guys were by far the best, and that's even against their highly-rated competitors. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

He came out, as I got a coupon off the internet for a checkup and he spent an hour cleaning it and making sure everything was fine. He did an excellent job checking it out, he suggested another part, left some information, we called him back, requested the part, he came back, and installed it. I give him high ratings and will continue to use him in the future.

Description of Work: Simple service call for 2 HVAC units with a possible purchase of an annual plan for a recently purchased home. Told me I would be 'First Call" appointment between 8:00 - 8:30. Took time off to meet them at house. Reminder call the day before cofirmed meeting appointment at 8:00. 9:15 - 9:30 no show had to call dispatcher who told me that they had a "meeting" that morning and would be there shortly. Cancelled appointment as I needed to go to work. Blue Dot never called to apologize or try to reschedule the appointment.

This company is now ARS, Rescu Rooter ( which was unknown to me.) When I scheduled the appointment for an estimate, that was not communicated. I received a call, much earlier than the set time range, that the technician was going to the house. Not so much of a problem, as I did have toilet issues to address as well, and he was able to accommodate that service as well. The Diagnostic cost for the water heater turned out to be $151.00, was not informed ahead of time that that would be the case. The cost for repair of Toilet was $269.00 which I found to be quite high. Total bill of $420.00 for diagnostic on water heater and toilet repair is too costly to have this company return.

We woke up in the January morning to an exceptionally cold house. I checked the thermostat and it said 50 degrees. I checked the furnace and sure enough it was indicating that it was in a lockout condition. I tried resetting the furnace twice to get it to ignite but to no avail. I called Blue Dot a little after 7am. They told me that they could get a technician to me sometime between noon and 5pm, and that they would call a half hour before he would arrive. I arranged to take the day off work and waited for the technician to arrive. Shortly after 4:30pm, I got the call that the technician was on his way. He didn't arrive until after 5pm. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem, and luckily for us he had a replacement piece in his van. As our furnace is entering its 20th year, he recommended that we think about getting it replaced, and helped set up an appointment for us to do just that. Once the technician was there, everyone was great. I am a little annoyed that it took so long for him to get there, especially that it was after the time that they originally said he would be there and it took longer than a half hour once I got the phone call. But we've worked with Blue Dot before and they've been good, so hopefully this is an isolated incident.
Description of Work: The technician inspected our furnace, diagnosed that the problem was with the hot surface ignitor, and replaced it with a spare he had on him in his van. He also recommended to us getting an estimate on installing a new furnace, and helped us set up an appointment to do so.

Excellent....from the sales rep, Chuck C., who came to give us a bid and thoroughly inspected the old PTAC and even went to the basement to inspect the wiring and fuses ( other reps from other companies did none of this) to the installation that was 3 days later...the installers were quick, friendly and cleaned up perfectly....the price quoted was excellent and beat every other bid we received from other companies.

The gas had recently been turned on at our rental property but we only had it on for the stove. We wanted the heating unit and water heater inspected to make sure it was in working order before hooked up to the gas. Ali showed up and noted a smell of gas, which we also noticed. He determined that there were some leaks around 4 of the gas pipe unions and his recommendation was to replace the unions. We also had an old, broken thermostat that needed to be replaced. His estimate was $650 to do the gas line work and $250 to replace the thermostat. I told him I thought it sounded like a high price and he explained that it was price based on the extension of the work involved in replacing the gas pipe unions and making sure it was correctly done to avoid any future leaks. He also said the thermostat price was as low as he could go. He did eventually knock $50 off the gas line work. I agreed to have it done because not living near the property, it was inconvenient for us to go back and forth to try to find someone else. Later I discovered we could have gotten a Honeywell digital thermostat for $50. So while we appreciated their promptness and reliability, I felt like we were grossly overcharged. It doesn't feel good to be taken, so we won't use them again based on that.

In addition, if you are a Blue Guardian or Blue Guardian Plus policy holder at Blue Dot, all of our parts and labor for repair work are covered with a 1 year warranty. See earlier explanation. I would strongly recommend that you look elsewhere. I normally don't send reviews, but the true failure on Blue Dot's part has motivated me to warn later potential customers.
Description of Work: I made an emergency service call to Blue Dot to request service on my furnace. I was very clear on the phone that I wasn't interested in their services unless they were able to send a technician that day (as there are a number of companies who provide emergency furnace repair on weekends and I can't take off work during the week for a tech). The representative assured me that the service tech would call within 15 minutes. One hour later, I called back. Operator then assured me that tech had gotten held up and she would page him. 2 hours later a different operator made a "firm commitment" that the tech would be calling any minute. I waited around my house all day to get a call; no call. DO NOT use this service. If their word is their bond, Blue Dot is selling junk debt.

As mentioned, numerous appointments by several different groups of Blue Dot employees and dozens of hours assessing the system before someone finally discovered the leak. This comedy of errors was too extreme for me. They did lots of replacements and changes until the fix was discovered. At one point they had overfilled the unit's coolant by so much pressure that a technician who discovered it was worried about the health of the system, but the owner said it would be fine. It's six years and I still worry about the health of the system. As a result, I cannot recommend this company and will not be calling them ever again. This is a system they designed and installed. If it had not been their system and was not in the warranty period of my new home, I wonder how much money I would have paid as they made changes and replacements before finding the real problem. As a plus, they were always professional, took great care while in the home, and were friendly. I just don't the technicians are properly trained in diagnosing problems, at least for new systems.
Description of Work: Purchased new home and Blue Dot had designed and installed the two systems making up the main house. When the summer hit, AC upstairs just didn't do the job. Best we could get is cooling down to mid / high 80s. Builder and Blue Dot blamed each other and it took numerous visits for Blue Dot to find the culprit: leak in the coil in upstairs unit. Blue Dot maintained tried to pass the buck many times and I spoke to owner of company who said on high 90 degree temperatures, mid 80s wasn't a terrible temperature for a system to achieve. Builder installed attic fan to alleviate heat problems.

Blue Dot has provided AC services to me over the last couple years. In the midst of heat waves, they were able to immediately come out and service my faulty air conditioner when other companies were going to take several days. Once I committed to replacing the unit, their cost was signficantly under the other 3 bids that I got for an AC-only unit. They have been very punctual every time they've been here.

My air conditioner broke. First I tried to fix it with another company that charge me $500 and didn't fix it. Then I call sears that had a very good time response, but a really bad price ($8000). Finally I called Blue Dot. Good sales man, two very good technicians and a fair price. Very satisfied with the installation.

At first, the unit did not pass inspection, and we had some difficulties getting Blue Dot to make the necessary adjustments. However, they did come out in the end and made the repairs.
