Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

They did a good job. My mother-in-law has used them before, so we just went with them. I would use them again.

We called them for a clogged toilet on Saturday 5/24/2014), they stated that they will come on Saturday evening before 9 PM. When we called them back at 9 PM as they had not come or called they stated that we were mistaken and that it was for Sunday. We gave them the benefit of the doubt. So Sunday (5/25/2014) it was between 6-8 PM. At 7:30 PM they called us that they were running late and that will not be able to come before 10-11 PM that night! That is too late.. It is a large outfit.. send someone else. Plan with more staff. We are looking for another plumber.

I was washing dishes Friday evening, when suddenly I felt water on my toes. My garbage disposal had rusted out completely and given way, and water was flooding my kitchen cabinet. I called Roto-Rooter on Saturday morning to replace the garbage disposal. The person I talked to was courteous and explained to me that there would be no cost for the technician to come out to my house. She also explained that the technician would assess the situation, give me an estimate, and perform the work on my approval of the estimate. A technician was at my house within an hour after I called. He looked at the garbage disposal, then consulted a price list to tell me how much the job would cost. He gave me costs for labor and parts. The price was in line with what I'd seen in my quick research the night before, so I approved the job. The technician was very courteous and professional, and once he completed the installation, he checked everything three times to make sure it was working properly. I am very happy with the punctuality and professionalism of Roto-Rooter, and I would use them again.

They were really nice on the phone and told me that some one would come out any time frame I needed at "no extra charge." Do to my work I gave them the time frame of 7-9 pm. They would not give me an estimated price over the phone when I scheduled my service, just said it was a free estimate and I was under no obligation. They called me while i was at work to see if they could come a little earlier, which was fine. My drain clean out is in my basement, really easy to get to, no need for anything above and beyond. The plumber quoted me a price of $479. I asked what he was planning on doing, he said "snake the drain." They say there is no up charge for evenings but that seemed extraordinarily high. I told they guy "no thank you" and went to Home Depot and rented the same tool he was going to use for 80 bucks and did the job in an hour. I was hoping to get the drain scoped at some point but it will not be by this company.

Roto Rooter has the most extraordinary customer service of any plumber we've ever used. They came out the same day I called at no extra charge which amazed me and everyone I dealt dealt with in the office as well as the plumber who came to the house was was extremely responsive, polite, efficient and well-organized. The entire staff excels at customer service and they all clearly know their tradecraft. A ++ on this front. They are pricey though. We used an Angie's List Big Deal to get $250 worth of work done for $79 and ended up paying another $111 past that for a total of $190 cost to us for 2 faucet fixes. The job itself was originally billed at $361 before the coupon. I contacted them again that evening by e-mail to be sure that I had the prices right and the manager was very cordial, efficient and accommodating and made sure that we were satisfied with the price and the work. He even called us on Saturday to follow up. We have had this Roto Rooter franchise do major plumbing repairs at our house before (sewer line collapse) and their work is definitely top quality. Other plumbers we have used were cheaper but some of that cheaper work had to be re-done so those were false bargains. For major work that I wanted to last for a long time I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

The appointment was made promptly. The technician showed up on time, located the issue and explained the work that was to be performed as well as the cost. The job was completed on time and to our satisfaction.

We ended up having to go with Len the Plumber (cost-wise) because we needed to replace the sewer line.

After looking at the drain they realized that the pipe that was installed by the previous owners was incorrect and not proper for household use. They explained this all to me, and told me that they would have to dig up the concrete (Luckily in a closet!), and remove the inferior pipe and install the correct one that would take care of the problem. They also explained that the work comes with a 10 year warranty. They honored the original estimate, even though it was a lot more work than they originally thought. After they dug up the floor, they showed me that when the previous owners installed the plumbing, they crushed the air flow pipes to my downstairs vents. I always wondered why some vents didn't have strong airflow when the A/C and heat was on. They offered to correct the problem if I supplied the parts. This was important since the pipe was also under the concrete. I purchased the parts at Home Depot and they completed both the plumbing repairs and my air vent problem. This was superior service. The technician, Duane, was extremely helpful, and explained everything that was being done, and why. I think Duane, along with Roto-Rooter, did an excellent job, and I would recommend the Jessup office to anyone that needs plumbing problems solved by a dedicated and professional team.

Easy to schedule. Arrived in time. Check the power room leaking faucet and gave recommendations on what's the best way to do it. I wanted to do some more rather cosmetic changes and he said that because if the pipe age it could cause more problems down the road. I was glad that he was honest and professional.

The only problem was the amount of time it took for him to get the needed parts. About two hours.

The service turned out well. They did this at a rental property for me. The scheduling was very easy and they were on time. They called as I asked them to do that before the service. They were efficient and great to work with.

They called me at 7:45am and they didnt show up till after 11:00am. All we wanted was two faucets to be replaced and a drip in our shower to be fixed. I had all the parts here. He wanted to charge me $600 over the Big Deal we already purchased. We ended up not using him because of the price. He went back to his truck and brought the price down to $250. We got the Big Deal refunded.

Firstly, I purchased a Big Deal for $79 for $250 worth of service and I cannot stress enough that I am in no way shape or form a handy person or even pretend to be. If it weren't for the fact that I only came $79 out of pocket, I would have a more serious rant. Apparently, the cost of removing the tank from the back of the tiolet and replacing a washer and making sure there was a tighter seal includes a $205/hr labor cost and $45 for parts. How do I know this? Because the technician who was sent to my house told me about 5 times. After I repeatedly told him that I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List, he kept telling me what the labor cost was and how I should just have my contractor fix it. In hindsight, I assume he was trying to tell me that I could fix it myself (but I didn't know that), but at the time all I heard was it is $205 per hour for labor and the rest is for parts AND why not have your contractor fix it. My contractor was tiling my floor and bathroom walls, he was not a general contractor. Needless to say, if I hadn't purchased the Big Deal for $79 I would have gone with a different plumber. $250 for the 10 minutes of labor they actually put in is outrageous. Lastly, when I spoke to the lady who called to schedule the appointment, I told her that I needed to have the faucet in my bathroom looked at as there was a leak when the shower was turned on. When I mentioned this to the technician, who came to my house, he said he would have to charge me to look at it. I argued that to look at it should fall within the $250 worth of service as this issue was presented at the beginning when I scheduled the appointment. After a lot of back and forth, I told the technician to fix my tiolet and I would call another plumber to look at the leaking faucet. Fifteen minutes later, my tiolet was fixed with no leak, and as a favor he tightened the faucet in my bathtub, so I no longer have a leak there either.

Worst experience ever!! Do not EVER use this company for any work unless you like being taking advantage of and completely ripped off. I am disgusted with how I was treated!!! They are bascially robbing you of your money.....after the line was snaked, I called 3 other plumbers to check prices. Not a single one of the other plumbing companies charged over $250 for the same job.

Initially the appointment did not go well. I had purchased the Angie's List voucher for $79 for $250 worth of labor, meaning I get $250 of credit towards whatever work needed to be performed. The technician arrived on-time and diagnosed the issue- he believed I had a huge back-up in my main water line and the cost of repair would be $479. That seemed very expensive to me, so I was grateful for the $250 credit. The technician then quoted me a total repair price of $308, which did not make sense when the price should have been $229 after the voucher. After several minutes of his insisting that he was told to collect another $79, I requested he call his dispatcher, and meanwhile I called their customer service line. Several minutes later customer service agreed with my statement that I should not have to pay the $79 again, and all was well from there on out. The work was done professionally and in about an hour. He cleaned up after himself, which was nice. The field manager on duty called as a follow-up to the "extra $79" complaint and explained that there are so many vouchers out there that their technicians do not know them all. As a consumer I find this disconcerting, as I did not appreicate having to explain several times to the technician, whose English was not very well understood, that my voucher was valid. If Roto-Rooter reads these reviews, I would ask that they better educate their technicans as to what coupons/vouchers are attached to a job before the technicican arrives on-scene, as there are bound to be customers out there who are not as patient as I am. Overall I would use this service again assuming I had a coupon or voucher.

It was great. They were very prompt and had everything taken care of in 24 hours. I got to spend a little bit more but that was fine. I purchased a Big Deal for 79 dollars yet the work was worth about 250 dollars.

I thought I had a problem with a sink but when he examined the faucet and took off the handles couldn't see a problem at all. I was so happy he didn't fix a problem that wasn't really there.

I scheduled them last week and they had a Big Deal they were offering. They had $79 for $250 of labor that I have previously scheduled.. I told them I had the parts when I scheduled them. But, when they guy came over and gave me a list for parts and labor. I told them I had the parts again. I told them I wanted the deal. He said he spoke with the scheduler and said it was going to be $57 more. I didn't have them do the work. They did come on time, but didn't do anything else right.

The service turned out good. They came out right away, there wasn't a delay on it. There were additional charges for the part which was a faucet, and two shut off valves. He didn't come with a new one, although they told me that there would be no problem, matching that up, but when he came here, he didn't have one, and he had to go and find one. I had told him before it is a mobile home, and it is not the same as a house. They had said it would be no problem at all, and going to find one took a couple of hours. He had it fixed when he came back, and we had to let it dry because he had to put sealant on it. The service was fine, but it was expensive. I would use them in the future, only with a guaranteed price.

very well. the tech had to go get some supplies after making an estimate of the job. he returned in about an hour and completed the job in about an hour. he cleaned-up and took away all of the remaining debris. very business like. the cost was very close to his estimate.

He did a good job and the communication was good. He did what I asked be done.

Through the whole process of diagnosing, repair (replacement), and cleanup Roto-Rooter was always very cooperative, timely, friendly and professional in all aspects of my problem. Costs are always a problem. They are in the process of working with my homeowners insurance company to minimize costs. They totally replaced main sewer line between the house and the county sewer line. They will guarantee the work for the as long as I own the house and 10 years after a sale of the home. As far as finishing the work due to plumbing problem they performed up to my expectations. There are some things that I must do outside of the work they performed like some yard repair, fence repair, basement paneling, and carpet replacement.

I was incredibly impressed with their customer service!! Within a few hours of scheduling an appointment online a representative from Roto Rooter called to confirm. They maintain an open schedule that accommodates all schedules.

Everything turned out good. Scheduling was easy and they could get it done immidately since it was an emegency, they were able to come out the same day I called. There were atleast four people doing work on the line and it took about 3 days to complete.
