Sila Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical

We signed for a special deal offered on Angie's list. When I called to make the appointment, the first date available was 31 days from the date we initiated the deal. When the gentleman came to do the maintenance, he refused to do it based on the age of the burner. No problem with that, however when we asked for a refund from Angie's list we were told there was a strict policy that refunds had to be requested within 30 days. Sila agreed to give a refund and never did. We were very, very disappointed in Angie's and vowed to never accept a special deal again. The message we received from Angie was very negative that there would be no exceptions to the 30 day rule even though it was Sila who couldn't provide a date within the 30 days - it has the feel of scam on the part of Sila. Fortunately, we had paid through PayPal. They opened a claim, were honorable, listened to the facts of the situation and refunded us.

Called Sila and they were quick to answer and give me a time when someone would arrive. John G arrived on time and was very professional, courteous and even wore shoe covers to not track snow in the house. He fixed the problem quickly and had the heat back working in no time. I also appreciated how up front he was about the cost so there were no surprises at the end.

Technician Guy arrived on time, and did a great job testing and patching up the furnace. Fixed a problem with a hose clamp, which completely rusted away, and was leaking water. Testing the current of the motor, which showed that it is getting old. Also noted the whining sound, another indication that the motor (or furnace) will need to be replaced at any point. Guy made recommendations for the replacement motor, alternative furnaces, with ballpark costs. I appreciate his advice.

Fast and John ( tall and bald ) was fabulous. He's done both my gas and oil burners for maybe 4 to 5 years now

Had the company two years in a row and both times the worker was prompt, courteous, and thorough. Since I have had no problems with the furnace which is 25 years old then I am happy.

It went very well, he got right to work and was finished promptly and on his way. Great service. Great value.

The service technician who arrived, John Gulstrom, correctly diagnosed the problem, replaced the valve (as well as a failed expansion tank we weren't aware of) and spent time making sure the system was properly bled and operating. He was cordial, professional, and explained the workings of the heating system and its components as he went along.

John G, who had worked on our heating system a few days earlier, arrived first thing in the morning to adjust a valve setting that was keeping our system from peak performance. He was done in less than 30 minutes and there was no charge for the call.

Guy came out and did a very through job (it's a new home and the heating system clearly hadn't been inspected in years). He let me know how to take care of my unit and let me know how to best extend it's life (it is much older than I was originally told). He gave me some great advice on how to help pay for a new unit since his inspection showed the heating system was heading on the way out. He wasn't pushy about it but just very helpful.

Sila performed routine maintenance on my furnace. This was a Big Deal from Angie’s List. Sila uses big deals for “upselling” and increasing number of excellent reviews. Please check “D” and “C” reviews as well. During the maintenance the technician took out a capacitor and recommended to replace it with a new one. He told me that he could install a new capacitor or reinstall the old one. I agreed to install a new capacitor. He charged me $121.50 for the new part. Now I learned that the price of this capacitor is in the range of 6-10 bucks. I discussed this with general manager Jake. He explained to me that Sila’s prices reflect overhead, training and excellent customer service. Well, I already paid for service and they still charged me at least 12x for part. The tech proposed replacement for my 11 years old 40 gallons water heater that has a 12 years warranty with a new one with 6 years warranty for $2954. Way overpriced! Manager Jake, tell me that this is not a Robbery!

John is very knowledgeable. One furnace has a puzzling problem going one since changing control board last year. He knew the issue right away and helping looking for fix.

Could not have gone better; Brian McFarland was extremely personable, professional, knowledgeable and efficient. He had a new associate riding along (as I had no prior knowledge he asked me if it would be ok if she entered with him which I appreciated). Additionally, he replaced both the pressure regulator and the expansion tank (had prior knowledge that they both required replacement) at a cost of $630.

They checked furnace and radiators. Cleaned out furnace.

It went very well. Guy Cilluffo was our technician, he was very knowledgeable. He made sure we knew what to expect and what to do with our furnace in the near future as it is on borrowed time. I highly recommend Sila and will continuing to use their services again.

I was at wit’s end – my boiler was out of commission and I was having trouble finding anyone with time to fix it. I called Sila and they sent John G. right out. He was professional and incredibly knowledgeable. John G got right to it. He identified then fixed the problem. And then he took time to test the fix to be sure. Wow! I was extremely satisfied with the whole experience and would recommend them to anyone who needs someone to service their furnace.

Techs pleasant and professional. John G. fixed the problems and thoroughly explained what was done. Had other techs here also and all very helpful. Price very good, lower than I expected. Quick service and arrived when expected.

The service was done well. Towards the end of the 'window' when they were supposed to arrive they called to say they'd show up later than the window. I told them I had a commitment and couldn't wait. They at first said they'd reschedule but shortly after called back and said they freed up someone to come over. So in the end, Sila came through.

I have been using Sila for over 2 years and so far everything was good. Yesterday however it all changed, while servicing my boiler they told me the co2 emissions were too high. So a second tecnician came out to check. He mentions a problem with water coming out of my boiler, had not been happening before the service. He doesnt check why or attempt to fix this new problem instead tells me co2 emissions are too high and so my heating is shut off and apparently I need to replace the boiler. My boiler is only 5 years old. The red flag went up when he told me replacement is $21,000. I paid that to put in a whole new system, ducting and a.c. 5 years ago. So I got a second opinion. My boiler is fine, in fact I discovered why the water was leaking and fixed that myself. I plugged in a couple of extra co2 detectors as well as my hardwired system. No readings. I would warn others always get a second opinion.

Was delayed but kept us informed of when he would arrive. Was very professional and went over what he did with us. Would us again.

Two electricians arrived to perform the upgrade on day one. Both men were gracious, friendly, and professional. The upgrade was extensive, so they were here the whole day. On day two, one of the electricians returned to replace all non-grounding outlets with grounding type. I am completely satisfied with the results of their work.

Guy was gracious, friendly, and professional. He replaced the water heater and vent pipe and explained the work done. He left the work area neat and clean.

Everything was connected to my sink or the furnace. They were here for quite a while they arrived at 7:30 and left at 9:25. They clean up very well and they took of their shoes when coming in. They are very nice and very professional. I would hire them again in the future if needed.

John did a great job! He is very knowledgeable, professional, suggested delaying oil filter upgrade to be monitored next year for soot-up, that's when I requested if we can get it done.

Jay was very punctual, knowledgeable, professional, and thorough. What more could you ask.
