Servicing to furnace was OK. However, when they serviced my humidifier, it started leaking. The technician was not aware until I went to his truck to point this out. He tried to fix this with some sort of paint application and a clip and left. He did not stay to see if it leaked which it did again requiring me to clear up the mess. When I called to have someone fix the issue, another technician came the following day and I was told that it would cost $340 to replace $10 for a small tube and a clip. In addition, the returning technician did not put everything back as he found it leaving the humidifier filter and cover on the floor. Very poor service and no resolution to my issue. Will not hire again

The person who came suggested that we needed a new heating unit, but would not give a quote until my wife assured him that we would go with them. He even said that it was not worth his time if there is no assurance that we would go with SILA. We called an independent person who worked on the baseboard heaters and made them work.

After reviewing the ticket from our Service Managers visit to your home in November, we found a few things we'd like to explain to help clarify the issue. He found that the system was 15 years old and past its life expectancy. The repair work that would be needed to help address all the issues would have been costly to the extent where it seems more efficient to install a new system as the repairs needed may not guarantee a fix for the issues you were having. We always strive for long term repairs, rather than short term, costly band-aid repairs. We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you, this was surely not intentional. Don't bother with special coupons they offer for AC maintenance, they will try to tell you that you need a new system when you don't and not do the maintenance that's necessary. Incompetent people, wish we had never called them.

Worst company ever! I had an appointment scheduled over a month in advance. Called less than 24 hours before to cancel the appointment due to no available techs. I asked how this is possible they said because people have no heat. Wouldn’t it make sense to leave some available to service the customers you promised to see that day? Only makes sense but they don’t care as the emergency calls create more profit for them. I’ve been a customer for years and this is how they treat them. Plenty of smaller companies would love the business and I’m sure have a better business model. This place chases $$$ and cost me money for taking the day off! I was warned by people in the business that they are pushers for sales guess because I have a newer system I’m not a priority. Good way to start 2018 off Sila!

Unfortunately due to the long streak of below freezing days here in the Boston area, we have had to move our schedule around to accommodate customers dealing with no heat, no hot water, frozen pipes or complete breakdowns of heating their systems. The past 2 weeks have been the coldest it's been in Boston since 1924, and with that comes an increasing amount of breakdown calls for us which take priority for us as we work to get these customers back up and running with heat in their home. Our intention is never to push a customer away or cause any inconvenience in your everyday life, we understand and respect that our customers are busy and have lives they need to commit to as well. With that being said, we genuinely apologize for this inconvenience while trying to get to your home for the routine maintenance of your heating system. If you will allow us, we will come out in a week or two once this cold snap ends and do the tune-up for you, free of charge. We never want to upset a customer, we realize sometimes these things happen and we always try to do the best we can to rectify the situation going forward. The gentleman from Sila was on time and took a look at my oil burner in the condo I bought this summer to do a tune up. There is some corrosion around the plate that needed to be removed and he explained that opening it up could cause more problems, and described the issues that could arise. In the end, I decided not to go forward with the tune up in case it caused an immediate need to replace the whole thing and they refunded my money. Very happy that the guy was honest and gave me all the info I needed to make the best decision possible.

thanks to the responsiveness of angie's list i got a refund as soon as i learned this company could not service they agreement.. .. but I would suggest not booking this company..
Description of Work: don't waste your money.. booked for heating checkup at beginning of December.. could not make it out till Jan.. once date arrived they call and cannot make it till feb... if you want your heating checked before the end of winter.. plan in july... cannot commit to a date and cannot follow through book another company...!

Although the time period was set at between 12 & 3, John G arrived around 3:50 which was acceptable given the many people who may have been having the same problem that day. He came in, put on booties to protect floors and carpets and set straight to work. I have to admit that, having had close to 40 years of experience with oil furnaces, I am pretty much at sea with gas furnaces. The furnace itself was ok and he got it working almost straight away, but it was pretty much a guess as to why it had stopped. I was advised how to keep it going until any repairs might be made given the fact there was no guarantee it would start again if set normally plus we are in the middle of an extended cold spell. I was very happy with his work, and would definitely call Sila again if needed.

We have a service contract with Sila, which is expensive. However they are really there when you need them. Early in the morning as the temperature outside dropped to 7 degrees, our thermostat died and our heating cut off. We called Sila and they were able to get Guy, their technician, to our home within 3 hours, well within the promised time window, on a very cold holiday season weekend. They also gave us 30 minute advance warning so we were able to go out for breakfast in a warm restaurant instead of waiting at home in the cold. Guy did a thorough check of the whole system, verified that the problem was indeed the thermostat and replaced it. It all took less than an hour. He was friendly and professional throughout. I marked the cost as $0 because this service was covered by the service contract. I gave Sila a "C" on the cost because they are not cheap. However you do get your money's worth. We have had several emergencies over the years and as contract holders Sila have really come through for us consistently.

Price was fair but importantly I knew they were reliable, honest, and professional. From previous services. With the replacement of the units also included lifetime checks twice per year and call to remind me to make the appointment. They also call to advise when the crew will arrive and they were punctual. I would recommend Sila and use them again. They were neat, professional and thorough. After the install they went over what was done and how to operate the new thermostat No complaints

The Sila company sent John Gulstrom. John is very professional, customer service oriented and knowledgeable about Weil-McClain gas boilers. He answered my questions simply, yet completely. Multiple diagnostics were run and John showed me what he was doing and why. My boiler has 230k btu capability, which is too much for my house which is 1550 sq. ft. The pipes were only designed to use 120 btus. I need a new boiler and I understand why. When I purchase the boiler and have it installed, I will be using Sila.
Description of Work: My Weil-McClain boiler has never worked correctly, would not fire up and an orange light was flashing. None of the other plumbers I called would touch the boiler or if they did, it was primarily by getting it to restart , which only lasted for a few months. No one ever took the cover off the boiler. The last plumber I called was able to help some and recommended that I call Sila.

Everything went very smoothly. John G. came to our house twice. The first time he evaluated the problem and figured out what part(s) needed to be ordered. The second time he installed the new circulator and made sure everything was working properly after the install. John arrived right on time for both visits and I found him to be extremely professional. Since I have a service plan with Sila, there was no charge for the two visits.
Description of Work: Needed to have the circulator replaced on our heating system because it was making a loud noise and showing early signs of failure.

John arrived exactly on time. He walked us through initializing the thermostat and offered helpful advice on operating the new system for best performance and most economical use. There was no charge for this service since it was included as part of the system replacement.
Description of Work: This work involved the final set-up and testing of a new heating system installed a week ago. The work included initiating the WI-FI enabled thermostat and testing all functions of the system.

The tech. was thorough, and informative. He discussed the service, and answered questions about an HVAC-related issue I had, and provided some ideas on possible solutions and ballpark pricing.
