Description of Work: First I called and checked with Sila Plumbing & heating to ask a question regarding the offer on Angie’s List the customer service rep would not let me discuss the service or address the issue I was having until I paid for special which was fine was told I couldn’t use it on my boiler so set up appointment. The guy did arrive few mins late which was no problem I greeted him very pleasantly was happy to see him. He did not even say hi was rude and he said he needed to get to thermostat. I said ok was not told this when I purchased it even I called n told them it was for tenant boiler. I had to notify my tenants. Then he came back asking about lights again very rudely I asked if he came with a contractor light like plumbers n other contractors. I have a plug in hallway. He was so rude again giving me an attitude regarding lights. Told him that house had been re-wired n that the electrician was coming back to do the basement however there are plugs to look for them. He came back again he was so rude and disrespectful to me like I didn’t know anything I was a woman n complained about wires again told him that there was nothing down there working that panels were in units that’s why no lights. By this time I had enough and asked him to leave n was going to call his boss he said go ahead his name is Jake who I was unable to reach because the number you call from Angie’s list is customer service n they could care less it’s just a way for them to get to your house then I’m sure there would have been an issue with 5 yrs old system...don’t use them it’s a scam no refund of my money n no call from “JAKE”!

Initially based on her experience, I have called on them, now for several years, for my own HVAC maintenance requirements and most recently the installation of a completely new system . Both my neighbor and I have found them to be highly skilled, absolutely reliable, and reasonably priced. + -1 moreI woke up to no heat. Called Sila at 7:30. Technician showed up at my house at 10. Everything went smoothly. I don't usually write review before the job is complete. But I feel compelled to do so because this was the most awesome service call ever. Bill was knowledgeable, courteous, professional and is most reassuring in dealing with him and Sila. Everything was handled with uttermost care. He got my heat back temporarily, waived the service call fee for me, wrote a detailed report, scheduled a follow up appointment for next day on the spot, and gave me a quote for repair. Many of those he went above and beyond. Thank you Sila. Thank you Bill.

+ -1 moreThe technician, Jay Williams, showed up on time. My partner was there and he instantly asked if her bf or husband was around. Women can handle this stuff too. A bf or husband is not needed, thanks. We do not need the misogyny he was showing towards my partner. He also broke a light bulb. He said he would clean it up and replace it, he did neither. We also asked about the flowing water sound in our heating systems pips. I have lived in many places with same system, never hear the water sound. He said it was normal, did nothing. Just said it was common thing and doesn't effect anything. But, I have also had people say it is just a matter of air in the lines. So, why not adjust it, liked I hoped would happen. I will admit, I will not use this company again.

First repair didn't work (and they didn't charge me); they said they would come back in a week to fix it, but it took weeks (they had to order a part, but did not contact me to update about when it would arrive). I called several times and was told the part wasn't in. Would have preferred if they had kept me updated by calling. I understand if it takes awhile to get a part, but better communication would be helpful.

I am going to go with them from now on. I have purchased other items from Angies list and they have not shown up or did horrible work. These guys are GREAT!! Highly recommended.

+ -1 moreWe have a very old house with an old forced hot water heating system. All the pipes had to be thawed and some parts needed to be replaced. Dave and Ray spent five hours working on getting us heat and then returned at 6:00 am (during a snowstorm) to finish! They were excellent!

+ -1 morePurchased an $59 boiler maintenance ticket from angie's list for Sila Heating to come and do a maintenance service on my hot water boiler. Appointment was scheduled to be Friday 1/11/18. SIla called on Thursday afternoon saying one of their technicians is freed up and if he can come this afternoon. I said ok. Technician came at about 5pm. He pointed out a few things on my boiler and gave me a quote of $280 to replace an igniter and he had the replacement igniter with him. I told him that I just needed his opinion on what needs to be fixed and a quote because I have another HVAC guy who I work with for repair work. That technician seemed a little upset. But he moved on and worked on the boiler for about another 10 minutes, while I was working on my laptop in the first floor kitchen area. Then he stepped up and said they didn't want my business and I could call angieslist for a refund. After he left, I found the boiler was turned off. I called Silar immediately and the manager said the boiler wasn't working before their technician stopped by. And he stood behind his technician and will mail a refund check to me. It turned out that the technician forgot to turn on the boiler before he left. I've been working with my contractors over the past 10 years. Today's experience with Sila was - how do I describe it - outrageous. I think other customers looking for HVAC services should know about stories like mine before working with Sila.

+ -1 moreThe Sila repair man arrived within a few hours of my call. Sadly two of the large main components needed replacing and those parts were not immediately available. The next morning a Sila representative came to my house and went over details with me. I decided it would be more cost effective and wiser to choose a new furnace from a brand with a better warranty (Lennox) that could be installed immediately. I also chose to install central air, and had additional air ducts (one hot air and one return) run to my upstairs rooms which have always been too cold. They installed 9 inch insulated ducts that ran from the furnace in the basement, across the basement ceiling, through the corner of a first floor bedroom (that corner still needs to be boxed off with sheet rock) and up into the knee wall area on the second floor, where they were able to run the ducts across the knee wall space to new vents. The work was begun the same day with the heat on by the end of the day, and the additional items finished the day after. Now I don't have to use space heaters in the upstairs rooms, and we are very satisfied with the new furnace and thermostat. They also helped me apply for several rebates and were responsive when I called with questions.
