I called several local companies, nobody would commit to a data and time for a service callI got on AngiesList and found Sila. They gave a commitment to a time and date. Jarrod showed up per the agreed upon schedule.He quickly diagnosed the issue,explained what needed to be done and made the repairs.Very satisfied with the service.

Excellent - except we didn't get the loan we wanted so we had to stop everything.Brian was very good. He came several time, emails, phone, always here to answer my questions.The price was good, I think : 20K to set up AC in an old house, when other companies told me that nothing was possible because of the lead paint.I will contact them next year.

Great experience. This guy really knows his stuff. We will definitely use this company going forward. He advised us to consider replacing our central air system since it is 15 years old. Although we can't afford to do it in this economy, he was understanding of this and generously shared his knowledge and advice for what to buy when we do replace the system. Great company!

I had purchased an Angie's List coupon for an A/C tune up. We are also new to the area. Appointment set up was easy and timely; received a phone call advising that technician was on the way and will arrive in 30 minutes (great!); the technician, Peter, was on time, professional and thorough. Made a recommendation for a float switch which I purchased (had a ceiling leak in previous house, so this was a good addition). He was great. Would recommend and will definitely add this group to my list of preferred contractors.

While the job took a couple of days more than anticipated, they started when they said they would start and kept us informed of their progress on a daily basis. Their technical staff was professional and responsive to our questions and requests. Probably a little more expensive than others, but the layout of the equipment and 4-zone pump system was a work of art!

I called their office and had an appointment for the next day. Not long after they call me back and tell me that they can send a technician out the same day which was great because the air handler for the 2nd and 3rd floors was not working. They started on the basement unit, they inspected and serviced it. They also noted that the duct work was insufficient for the amount of the house it was supposed to cool down. Next they went into the attic to get the air handler working again. It ended up just being a cardboard tab that should have been removed by the installer; the tab was preventing the condensation pump from turning on so the system turned off when the pump was full of water. They told me how bad the duct work was for the 2nd and 3rd floor, it was severely undersized which made sense since when the air conditioning was working it wasn't keeping the 3rd floor cool. The technicians were very nice and sympathetic. Note: The initial review was a transcription by an Angie's List worker from a phone conversation. The Angie's List transcriber did a poor job writing the review; it didn't make much sense and they stated things incorrectly. I recommend you check your account reviews, find the ones that are transcriptions and fix any errors Angie's List made. Sila Air deserved better than that transcription, I wish I had caught it sooner.

Unable to clear drain. I had a coupon for 1 hr of plumbing for $49 and I had used this company previously for tune up of my heating/furnace and was very pleased with them. This time the tub/shower was draining slowly so I called them again. The plumber was very nice and arrived on time. My disappointment was with the work. He removed the plate in the tub and attempted to to snake the drain with a manual snake. He was able to go in 6 ft. but no blockage noted. He then suggested it might be that there is an elbow which the snake could not accomodate. That was it! He suggested that I try some liquid plumber gel or something similar to see if that would work. With about 30 minutes left on my hour I also asked him to check the water pressure gauge as i was getting some thud noise when the faucets are turned off either shower or kitchen faucet at times. He checked the pressure guage in the cellar and said it was set properly but adjusted it a bit. It didn't help. But to get back to the tub drain, I subsequently tried following: strongest liquid plumber I could buy,baking soda/vinegar/hot water treatment, purchase of 2 lb bucket of BioClean and followed directions with 5 day treatment, all to no avail. I finally called another plumber listed on Angies List. He came and power snaked the drain under the bathroom sink which cleared the blockage, a lot of gunk and hair and now the drain runs smoothly. He charged me $120 and it took him about 40 minutes. My frustration is in the fact that I spent $49 for the coupon, $4.00 for the liquid plumber, $60 for a 2 year supply of BioClean,and finally $120 for the second plumber totaling $233 and a lot of aggrevation. My impression is that this could have been accomplished by the first plumber in the allotted time and it cost me $184 to find that out. Addendum: I might use this company again for heating but not for plumbing.

I had purchased the Early Bird A/C Tune-Up & Inspection coupon to have Sila Heating & Air Conditioning come out and service our AC unit back in March 2011 but due to my other commitments I was not able to call and setup an appointment until May. When I was finally able to call, Sila was very accommodating and I was able to setup an appointment for May 25th for 8am. That morning Sila was right on time, maybe even a few minutes early. I walked Anthony through the setup where he did a thorough inspection of both the indoor and outdoor portions of the AC unit. I had mentioned that we did notice from time to time a small leak, in hopes he could find a cause. Thorough the course of the inspection, Anthony was able to identify the portion of the system, and provided a visual via his iPhone, that was most likely causing the leak as well as other items that probably should be addressed. When we moved to the outside, he continued to view the outside unit, recommending some items that needed to be addressed. At the same time, I also met Jarrod from Sila and offered some helpful tips with regards to maintenance and landscaping that may affect the performance of the system such as trimming back some of the shrubs and not pushing mulch right up against it. Since the service, I have take the advice and followed the recommendations. Now, going into the service, I knew there would be issues as the AC is an old model and it had been at least 5 years since serviced (owned the house for 5 years so who knows on the previous owner) so I sort of prepared for the worst, but in talking through the recommended changes with Anthony they all made sense. There were some items that need replacing, a good vacuuming and fixing the leak. Rather than give me a laundry list with a giant bill, I was provided a series of options. Each option with more items to work on, but some of those more nice to have vs. critical. I appreciated this because they gave me some options. This was my 1st experience and certainly won?t be my last as I plan to proceed with having them fix some of the issues. I would definitely recommend them.

I spoke with a real person yesterday (can't remember her name, but she was great) She gave me a window of 1-4 today ...Jake himself called @ 12:00 as they could come early but I could'nt get home... Craig B arrived just before 1;00 and was finished in less than an hour...he was courteous and explained everything to me in a professional manner...too often I've found service people (men) are condescending to women in these situations - but not Craig B - he was great. I'm an inexperienced homeowner....so I can't speak to pricing...but I'm confident I was treated fairlly...

This is my second time using Sila and I cannot overstate how good of an experience I have had. Jerrod is more of an air conditioning surgeon or engineer than a technician. He knew what the problem was before even looking at the unit and took apart my unit (a 10-year-old Samsung ductless) with precision. Sila is definitely not cheap, but well worth the cost in my opinion. I 100% recommend Sila.

Great experience. PLumber was courteous, efficient, and extremely competent. Would defifinitely use in the future.

I contacted Silva for an estimate for installation of a central AC unit in my home. A representative (Nick) came to my home and seemed very knowledgable and was very professional. After looking at the home, he told me that he would run some numbers and then get back to me. About a week and a half later, he emailed a range of prices ($9000 to $15000) depending on the grade of equipment I chose. He wrote that if that range worked for me, I should let him know and he would work out a detailed proposal.I have emailed him SEVERAL times over the past two weeks and I never received a response back. I don't feel that as I customer I should have use my time to call the business to track him down or talk to a manager, especially since they used email to contact me.From other Angie's list reviews, this seems like a recurring problem. Silva seems like a good company according to Angie's list, and Nick was very professional during the visit to my home. I might have even hired them for my AC installation. However, they are completely unresponsive to email and unfortunately that is why they will not get my business.

Note: The only reason I give them "B" for quality, rather than "A" is that I haven't had a chance to evaluate the work they did, and I'm also not really in a position to judge. Note: The estimates seemed very high. This said, I have to acknowledge that I did not get other bids, so have no basis for comparison. The technician, Jarrod, came on two occasions: once to evaluate my two AC systems (I used a coupon from Angie's List), and a second time to do the repairs. Jarrod was pleasant and seemed very competent. He respected my request that he take care to not let my cats out when going in and out of the house. (This is very important to me, as I have had a couple of scary cat escapes in the past). He is very communicative, both in explaining the work he is doing, and whatever other topics come up (cats, cars, kids, etc., In fact he likes to talk, which could bother some people, but I found talking to him very pleasant, and it didn't seem to hinder his work on either of the two occasions when he was here.). He wore booties in the house, or stocking feet, so as not to track in dirt. I was actually surprised to learn that they are a very large company, because I felt as though I were getting a level of personal attention and care that are often a characteristic of smaller firms. I don't know if this is Jarrod, or if it's an overall company policy, but in either case, I was impressed. The only thing about the experience that bothered me a bit was that Jarrod refused to leave the estimate and itemized repair list with me because he said that I "might take that and go to a cheaper firm and get them to do the work." I said that I couldn't possibly make a decision without studying the options more closely and consulting my husband. After all, I said, I could always get bids from other firms anyway. So they e-mailed it to me from the office, which was fine. I found the two best options quite expensive and chose the 2nd best (repair all the defects plus 3-year maintenance and no-cost emergency service) because the deluxe option was too costly. Altogether I enjoyed having them in the house and, although I'm no expert on A/C systems, everything they said made sense. Based on their rating from Angie's List, I have to assume they did a good job. I haven't yet had to use the A/C, so won't really be able to evaluate this for a while. They left everything clean and neat, and Jarrod wore booties in the house to avoid tracking in dirt. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

They were very professional, showed up on time. Called to make sure I was there. I would highly recommend them.

We are selling our 2-family house and were required by the buyers to have units serviced. Craig was an hour and a half late for the appointment. I also didn't receive a call, as promised, when he was on his way. That was the only downside. Craig did exactly what he was scheduled to do, was friendly and professional, and gave me helpful advice about maintaining HVAC in our new home. This was only a maintenance call with no repairs, but I would use them again. Price was exactly as quoted over the phone minus the Angie's coupon that I handed him.

We had recently moved to our house and during the inspection, our inspector instructed us to have the HVAC system checked out further for maintenance. I bought a deal through Angie's List for $89 for each a/c unit. Sila was very thorough in their maintenance check.

Initial contact and setup of the appointment was promising (I got a call-back within 3 days and I had an appointment for someone to show up to gather information for an estimate within 1 week). The technician showed up and I spent aproximastely 1 hour showing him everything and walking through the house/basement. I was promissed and estimate within days; when I didn't hear basck for mor than one week, I called the company ... at which point I was told that the pre-sales individual that met with me is in Midwest for a week at some training and that they will try to reach him (???). I didn't hear back for another week and when I did, the company representative is refusing to provide an estimate ... he insists that he must meet with me in person to discuss all the options I have. this raises red flags in more than one way. Why refuse to provide an written estimate? (No explanation was provided ... except that "I'm not comfortable".) Who has the luxury of meeting with vendors again and again before you even decide on who will be awarded your project? This is not the type of customer service I'd expect from a company rated "A" on here. They wasted my time and put me behind the schedule with my quest to obtain multiple estimates, compare them and award the project to the most qualified company.

Steve, the project manager, was creative in figuring out how to best configure and install the high-velocity A/C. The installation team was very professional, showed up when they said they would. They called ahead once when they knew they were going to be a bit late. (How many contractors do that?!) The neatness of their work both during and after each day's work was stellar. They had great attention to detail and addressed all my questions and concerns.

I had called and scheduled an appointment for 8 am, and was confirmed for it. The appointment was to come take a look at our central air conditioning. We most likely need to replace the compressor, so we were asking for a confirmation of that diagnosis and an estimate to replace it. I got a call the day before the appointment asking if they could come at 7am instead. That wasn't going to work for me, so I asked if I could keep the 8am appointment. They said sure, no problem.Later in the day, I got a call saying due to a scheduling issue, the person assigned to come to my house wouldn't be able to make it at 8. They asked if they could instead come over between 4 and 5 on the day of our original appointment. That was acceptable, so I said sure... As 4:00 approached on the day of the appointment, I got a call saying the technician wasn't going to be able to make it at that time, and that I would have to reschedule for the following day. That wasn't going to work, as I had already made arrangements with work to be available on the day we chose. So I just cancelled the appointment altogether at that point. I was thoroughly annoyed at this point, as we were going on vacation two days later, and we really wanted the estimate done before we went on vacation so we could have the compressor ordered while we were away, and then installed soon after we returned. I could have called someone else and had all this done, but now it was too late since we were now a day away from vacation. I understand these sort of things can happen from time to time, but the multiple reschedules was quite annoying... especially when I agreed to one of them... ultimately they couldn't meet that time either.

Everything was great, work was effective.

Excellent. Peter showed up pretty much exactly on time for my appointment, and had shoe covers for his boots when he walked into my house, rather than just leaving footprints everywhere.He explained what he was doing and the reasoning very clearly, and also was able to give some recommendations on whether or not to replace the system, since the information sticker on the inside is missing. The system is fine, and the whole appointment took about 45 minutes.

Jim did a great job, and was able to do everything within an hour. He had a very reasonable price, was very efficient, and I would highly recommend him.

Just finished scheduled appointment with Jarrod from Sila. All I can say is "WOW". If only more companies were like this, then the consumer would have no concerns. Bought coupon from Angies list for seasonal tune up for $89.00 and it was definitely worth the price. First the office called (Jim) letting me know what time to expect the technician. Jarrod arrived in the time frame, very personable, professional and inspired confidence. He was respectful of my home,wearing booties and vacuuming up any debris that accumulated. Jarrod not only explained issues concerning our attic A/C unit but also took pictures and was able to visually let us see what was happening with the drip pans. Our attic A/C, about 25 years old, did show alot of rusting on our primary drip pan but also on our auxillary drip pan. Jarrod let us know that out A/C unit was still working but a potential problem could occur with water issues down the road. Absolutely no pressure was put on me to buy a new unit, but because of the experience with Jarrod and SIlva, I will more than likely, to use this company to replace the unit. A estimate will be sent via email. I felt more educated about my central A/C unit and potential issues about the service visit. What is amazing to me is at the end of the service call, I was asked by Jarrod if he could have done anything to make the call better, either being more personable or professional. Good old fashioned "Customer Service". It may sound "corny" the that's what the customer likes, to be appreciated. I would absolutely recommend Silva Heating & Air Conditioning! After the A/C unit is installed I will post review on Angies List.

Sila came in and installed two Ductless air conditioning systems into our house. When they came to give the estimate they were very professional and explained the Ductless system. They gave us a huge list of references in the area to call .They came on time and it took them about a 1/2 a day to install the system. They were clean and very professional.I have been recommending them to friends and would absolutely use them again.

They were on time, and Bob, the serviceman was polite, professional and informative. I will definitely use them in the future.
