Setup appointment using coupon sale. The technician came when scheduled, was professional and offered a service contract which I purchased. I used to have my unit serviced by NSTAR but they would only do the PM's in the middle of summer. I'm hoping I can schedule my next PM when I want it with Sila.

I emailed to schedule the HVAC maintenance. Marisa was always extremely prompt in her reply. After I scheduled, I noticed an Angie's List Deal and emailed her. She immediately applied that discount. We ended up having to reschedule because of the heat wave and they had a lot of A/C non-functioning emergencies. On the day of the service, they were punctual, professional, cleaned up after. The technician checked out everything, cleaned out the drain pipes which were starting to get clogged up. Everything went smoothly.

Called them to get the AC fixed. I was shocked with a bill of over $550 to simply refill the freon. He had it diagnosed in less than 10 minutes. They charged $90/lb -- and it took them 1.25 hours to get it done at $180/hr. When I asked about the $90/lb, he said it was an old freon, and that's what they charged for it. After the shock wore off, i called around 2 other businesses. They both stated that they would charge $50 or less to refill the freon (I stated the specific type). They also said it would not take 1 hr or less to "fill it". I applied an Angie's list coupon and got $30 off. I called the next morning, and they refunded me another $50. The guy also explained that i needed to change my filters (first house with an AC!). So bottom line -- good service, and they seemed responsive when I called back. Should YOU use them? Sure, if you are willing to pay $89 for someone to drive up to your house and charge you almost double what others do for "parts". Will I use them again? i would probably not. This was my first Angie's list experience -- and I am simply disappointed. I could have done better on my own.

Called Sila in the AM at 8. The tech arrived @ 10.30, diagnosed the problem as a capacitor failure in 5 minutes. Had the spare with him, replaced it and verified the unit was working fine and cleaned out the filter. Also checked compressor pressure and assured me that unit was in good condition. The job was done in 45 minutes. Outstanding expertise and hassel free service. Thanks.

They were prompt and responsive - very proactive. They actually contacted me to schedule an appoint after I had purchased my Big Deal. They were also pleasant and friendly.

The guy who came was very polite. The only thing is that they never showed up during our first appointment so I have to schedule another one.

I wish we had used Sila from the start. Our A/C unit, which is located in the attic, would not turn on and someone from another company came out to try to diagnose and fix the problem. They found that a wire in the catch basin was broken (probably chewed by a squirrel). Because the wire was broken, the A/C unit was falsely sensing that the catch basin was full and would not turn on. They fixed the wire and the A/C started working. However, they didn't noticed that the styrofoam buoy at the end of the wire was missing. Without that piece of styrofoam, the wire can't float to the top of the catch basin if it becomes full of water. It is when the wire floats to the top that the A/C knows to turn off. It turned out that the A/C had another problem that we didn't know about and the first company didn't find (because they only focused on the wire and didn't actually even look inside the unit.) The problem was that the drain was blocked and the condensation from the A/C had nowhere to go but into the catch basin. Athough the basin was full of water, the wire didn't float to the top and trigger the A/C unit to turn off. So, the A/C was running for several days without us knowing that the water was overflowing from the catch basin into the attic. We only discovered this when the ceiling below started leaking and falling down. That's when we called Sila. They were super responsive and sent Jarrod out right away. He was very nice and sympathetic to our situation. Despite that it was already the end of his work day, he did not seem to mind carrying his ladder up 3 flights of stairs and then climb into our attic (which was now damp and moldy). It took him less than 5 minutes to discover that the styrofoam buoy was missing. He then did a thorough inspection of the inside of the A/C unit and found that it was filled with insulation that had somehow been sucked into the system. He needed a strong type of vacuum cleaner to clean out the insulation, but didn't have one. So, he walked to the corner hardware store to see if he could buy one there (which he said he would have charged to his company not to us). The store was closed, so he had to reschedule a time to come back. He came back 2 days later (his company would have sent someone else out the next morning, but we wanted to stay with the same person) and he spent about 3 hours cleaning the A/C and the drain and installing some safety parts so it should never overflow again. He also made sure insulation would not get sucked into the unit. He stayed after finishing his work to observe the A/C working and make sure the problem was solved. He also took before and after photos of the A/C unit, which was helpful because we haven't acutally gone into the attic ourselves (you have to climb a 6 foot ladder and then pull yourself up through a hole to get in.). Sila was expensive (about $180 per hour for labor), but if we had used them from the start we would have saved ourselves thousands of dollars in damages. I feel the cost was well worth it and we would definitely use them again.

Previously wrote about fantastic service in obtaining estimate for central A/C replacement. Have hired SIla to replace our old unit and work has been done. The workers arrived on time and were respectful of my house, covering the wood floors with tarps and removing any furniture/pictures that might potentially be harmed. Jarrod from SIla arrived first and showed the workers the area to be worked on.All the employees we have encountered from Sila have been very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Our old A/C unit gave the workers some "headaches" and the temperature in the attic didn't help but they persevered and finished the job. Only complaint I can add is my front door was left opened all day and the flies took advantage of this. We were chasing flies for a few days! The company and Jarrod called after the installation to see how the unit was functioning and Jarrod (god bless his Holmes on Homes attitude) did a follow-up on the unit to make sure everything was perfect. Just a tweak was needed. Very SATISFIED with the equipment and the SIla company. Extremely SATISFIED with all the employees we have encountered and of course our favorite: Jarrod. Please don't lose this employee! For others thinking of hiring Sila A/C & Heating, don't even give it a second thought, just do it!

Purchased the a/c tuneup and inspection Big Deal, which I thought was very reasonable for the service performed. I'm embarrassingly bad at preventive home maintenance, so this represented my attempt to get back on the ball (having lived in my home for 5 summers now with nary a tuneup of the central a/c unit.) Scheduling the appointment was convenient and easy. They actually had to call and reschedule because of a scheduling issue on their end, but were very apologetic. On the day of, the technician called ahead to let me know when he was about 30 min. away and arrived promptly. He replaced the air filter on the unit, checked everything over, and cleaned and checked the outside fan, as well as cleaning it out. Basic service, but done well. I appreciated that he wore booties each time he came in the building.

Bobby showed up on time. He was friendly. He came to clean one gas boiler that was scheduled. He called to see if his schedule would permit him to do the other while he was there. He pointed out out potential issues and we talked it out and I agreed to have the preventive worked done then. Overall a good service visit.

For the second time i took another day off from work to have service from Angie's List Big Deal special.The second time I am been blown off. First time, did call and cancel me because of other calls. Second time scheduled from 1-4. No call and No show. Lost 2 valuable vacations days for work i though would be done. A phone call would have been nice.Didn't go at all. No one showed up.

No work was done. The interface with the office person, as described above, was poor.

Peter arrived on time yet did not call 30min in advance as had been promised when I scheduled the appointment. This was my second try with Sila as they had canceled a previous appointment due to overwhelming demand during hot weather. Since our unit was in need of repair, cancelling an appointment scheduled a week in advance seemed a poor way to convince a new customer that your company is service-oriented; however, I do understand the need to please current clientele. Regardless, Peter quickly diagnosed the issue with the broken unit and gave me his opinion. He was very professional and never tried to use pressure sales to increase my bill. I ultimately agreed to have a salesman come present detailed options to fix the broken unit... we will see if the quality of service provided by the salesman is as good as Peter.

My call to Sila was answered by a person, not a machine, and an appointment was made within a week. Since this was for annual service and not for any problem, the timing was fine. I was give a 2-hour window (!) and got a call when the service person was leaving his last job and heading for my house. He arrived when he said he would. Bobby was thorough, professional and knowledgeable. He explained everything that he would do and everything that needed to be done. Work was done both in the attic and on the unit outside. He looked at our entire set-up and made recommendations regarding getting more efficient cooling to a problem area. We probably won't make the investment he suggested, but it is nice to know that we have options. We had to replace a fairly expensive part in order to qualify for a service plan but since it was likely that the part would have failed this summer, it seemed like the right thing to do. The service plan is much more expensive than the one we had with our previous service provider, but they did go out of business and maybe that is why!! The service plan we have with Sila is very comprehensive and I am satisfied that we will receive prompt, professional service if necessary.

very pleased with my experience. they were able to meet me at my condo within 2 hours of placing the service call. very professional. technician was on time and thorough. he diagnosed the problem right away and fixed it promptly. would definitely recommend this company and will use them again.

I suppose that calling an AC repairman on a 90 degree week is looking for trouble. They were able to come out within 2 days. The repairman (Peter) was extremely professional and diagnosed the problem within minutes of arrival. The initial service call was $89 which seemed fair. Initially I was told that the board would cost ~200 and that I would be charged for 1 hour of work. When the call came in with the actual quote it was $585. When I asked how the cost had doubled, I was told that the initial quote was mistaken. When I asked for them to break down the costs for me, they said that they marked up the part and were charging me for 1.5 hours of work at $180 per hour. This is more than my Orthopedic Surgeon makes. Needless to say, the serviceman replaced the part in less than 20 minutes (no change in the bill). Overall, they did fix my system the same day, but it was clear that the high level of service came at a cost. For any major work I will be getting multiple quotes in the future.

The AC service tech: Craig was very professional. He when to the attic to check out the unit there. He checked the drain for the condensate water and the over flow alarm. He took the time to explain how the system works and what to look out for in the future. Suggested that a cover for the condenser would protect it in bad weather and the wintertime. He didn't try to sell me one. Just wanted to make sure that the cover would help add years to the units life. I would highly recommend this company for anyone that needs AC work done. And like I stated earlier, Craig the AC service tech was GREAT!!!

I phoned Sila at 8AM and by 9AM my call had been returned and the technician was here. I found him to be very polite and friendly and he knew just what to do to repair the AC. He also gave us great information on future options for the unit. I would definitly use Sila again!!!

The guys arrived close to the time I was told. They took their time servicing the units and were thoughtful, mindful and professional.

Central air stopped working last night after a couple of sweltering days; I called Sila first thing this morning and they told me their technician was in the area and could be here in an hour. He actually arrived 30 minutes later. It turned out to be an electrical fault of some sort unrelated to the a/c, but Greg did a full tune-up and signed me up for a service contract, as well as pointed out how more insulation and insulated vents would improve efficiency and gave me a quick proposal for doing the work.

I called for an appointment. I was scheduled the following week. Repairs were then scheduled within days. The service providers were prompt and courteous. After the repairs were done, I had more problems which occured over Memorial Day weekend. Despite the holiday, the person on call returned my call promptly and was at my house within an hour. The problems were taken care of and my air conditioning unit has been working fine since.

The guy basically told me everything that I already knew. I felt I didn't get much from this big deal. It wasn't that beneficial for me.
